He said: "There's no words to describe it. The g-force on that was real. It was stressful.

"The first lap was aggressive and good and then when he took the traction control off I thought I was going to die.

"I'm stressed. I'm stressed. I need to take five. I was not ready for that. I was screaming a little bit."

While Hamilton revelled in the delight at scaring the eight-time Olympic champion, but declared in trying to frighten Bolt, he almost crashed on multiple occasions.

The Brit said: "That was probably the most fun passenger ride I've ever done. I was on the limit. We nearly crashed several times. I wasn't watching where I was going. Don't do that at home.

"It was so good. I pushed the car to the max because I wanted to scare him to death.

"He talks about being the fastest dude in the world, but I can still make him scared a little bit."

Apocalypse coming September 23?

Webmin

end-times.jpgSeptember 23 this year is set to mark the beginning of the apocalypse, according to several conspiracy theorists and doom-mongers.

The 'Rapture', set out in the Book of Revelation, will see 'worthy' Christians lifted into heaven by Jesus, while those remaining will be left to face the end of the world.

Now, an apocalyptic theory known as Revelation 12 Sign predicts the Rapture will soon be fulfilled with the appearance of 'a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.' Conspiracy theorists think an astronomical alignment involving the constellations Leo and Virgo, along with various other planets will fulfill this prophecy word-for-word.

The Rapture is the second coming of Jesus Christ as prophesied in John 14:1-3 where those who have lived 'sin free' lives meet the Lord.

Proponents of the outlandish theory say the women mentioned in the prophecy represents the constellation Virgo, while the crown of stars represents Leo.

oldest-person-photo-1.jpg

The oldest person in the world who was the last living subject of Queen Victoria and worked for 'masters' on a Caribbean sugar plantation has died aged 117.

Violet Mosse Brown died in Jamaica at around 2.30pm on Saturday.

She became the world's oldest person on April 15 this year at 117 and 38 days, taking the title from Italian Emma Morano, whose life spanned three centuries and was born in 1899.

oldest-person-photo-2.jpg

Mrs Mosse Brown was sent a plaque by Queen Elizabeth II when she became the oldest citizen of the Commonwealth.

She was also the last person who lived under the reign of Queen Victoria, as Jamaica still formed part of the British West Indies in 1900.

In her early life the supercentenarian worked on a sugar plantation and as a maid in the 'post slavery period', according to her family.

She went on to buy her own home and became a successful businesswoman selling bread from the only depot in her district.

Following her death, 117-year-old Nabi Tajima, of Japan, is now the world's oldest person.

shericka-jackson.jpgThis is sure a 'what the hell' moment. The two woman dem go all the way a World Championship inna London and FIGHT?! Over uniform?! REALLY?

So we heard Technical Director Donald Quarrie speak briefly to a local reporter who is in London about the madness in the camp and how an argument escalated to the point where he had to physically position himself between the two quarter milers quarter-milers Stephanie Ann McPherson and Shericka Jackson to prevent a huge fight. This confrontation took place right before the women's mile relay final at the IAAF World Championships in London on Sunday. Reports are that it all stemmed from a uniform issue. Quarrie did say that the argument started over something small and insignificant and then it escalated to the point where one of them - Stephanie Ann McPherson - said she wasn't running if the other was on the team.

"It (argument) started with a uniform thing, and I don't remember exactly why, because when it was beginning, I made sure I got in there to keep things normal. It escalated a little bit, but the main thing I was concerned about was keeping them apart," said Quarrie.

mc-pherson.jpg

McPherson was subsequently diagnosed with an injury and withdrawn from the team by relay coach Paul Francis. Naturally, Quarrie is now seems to be questioning the authenticity of the information he was given.

"My main issue right now is the fact that one young lady said she was not going to run, suddenly. I show up at the track and her coach is telling me she has an injury and will not be able to run. The doctor did check with her and said it was a grade one something - I can't remember what it is - but I find it very strange that between the hotel and here (warm-up track), an injury could have occurred," said Quarrie.

"I am not going to put the blame on the young lady only. The coach is the one that said she cannot run, just as he said Elaine could not run. He gave me a reason that Elaine did not run in practice to the extent which he wanted should in case she had to push herself. She had not done that, so it was his decision," Quarrie continued before sharing the circumstances around the altercation between the athletes.

"There was a verbal altercation between herself and Shericka. She (McPherson) said it (that she would not run). I told her not to say so and that we should move on. In the heat of everything, I could forgive the young lady, but I would like to know why, in such a short space of time, I show up at the track, and she is not running." Anneisha McLaughlin-Whilby was a last minute replacement for McPherson in the line-up alongside Chrisann Gordon, Jackson and Novlene Williams-Mills. The former Holmwood athlete however, suffered a leg injury 100m into her second-leg run before crashing to the ground and ending Jamaica's hopes of defending the title.

(In a recent letter to Dear Pastor, this is what a young man had to say.)

I am 25 years old and I got married in January to a woman in her 40s. It was not an official marriage. We did it because both of us attend a church and the rule is, we must get married before we can sleep together. I do not have children, but my wife has three.

Now that we have got married to fulfil the requirement of our religion, we would like to get married the legal way.

But, pastor, I have found faults in this woman and I don't want to go through with the legal marriage. Another thing, this woman doesn't want to go out and work.

She wants me to take care of her and the children. I told her they are not my children and she said they are mine because we are married.

When I told my mother I was going to get married, she told me I was crazy. Now I cannot tell my mother what I am going through.

She doesn't bathe every day and she wants me to sleep with her. She says if I love her, I must accept her as she is and don't complain.

Her children are respectful. I don't have any problem with them, I am having problem with her. I want my wife to be clean and smell good.

Male rompers anyone? NO! Fyah Bun!

romper-battyman-garments.jpgRompers...the all-in-on blouse and shorts combinations...has traditionally been something for females, both little girls and adults.

However, one designer ACED Design, has decided to put men in these female garments. ACED comprises four Chicago-based business school buds who came up with the idea for what they call the RompHim.

"Turn heads and break hearts when you take your RompHim for a spin," reads the product description. "Is it a romper specifically designed for men? Sure, but it's also so much more."

Well, locally, we are having none of that and the comments internationally has not been good either. Acording to one reader, "In the hood, that what we would call the JumpHim". Simply put, the reaction has been: "Fyah bun pon a funny guy garment!"

And we couldn't agree more.

Damion Crawford, former MP, writing on Facebook, said "if u are a man and own/owned or intend to own a romper unfriend me NOW ... not only on social media unfriend me in real life".

Jesus Alarcon, a Facebook user, said that "With every year that passes man get gayer and gayer."

Reginald C Mcgee, another Facebook user, said the wearing of male rompers is a sure telltale sign of homosexuality. "Ladies if your man wears one of these ... he has a boyfriend," he wrote.

"Weh romper a go??? Not here," user Jerome West wrote on Facebook.

Women were also indignant at the idea. Millicent Needham posted: "Real man nuh play romper, leave it to the ladies".

Aneisha Smith wrote on her Facebook page that: "If I ever have a man and him wear this kmt".

MBJ Airports staff members volunteer with Change for Children at the Montego Bay Autism Centre.

Sangster International Airport operator MBJ Airports Limited continues giving back to Jamaica in 2017 by maintaining its focus on the nation's youth under its "Change for Children" initiative.

Since 2011, Change for Children has disbursed more than JMD 5m to a number of local organizations, the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf, Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club, Scout Association of Jamaica and Montego Bay Autism Centre being the major beneficiaries.

"We are proud to be able to contribute to key non-profit organizations that make a positive impact in the lives of countless young persons across Jamaica," commented MBJ Airports CEO Rafael Echevarne. "It's critical that Jamaica's youth are nurtured so they can realize their full potential," he said, noting that Change for Children reflects the airport operator's commitment to the country's long-term socio-economic development.

Contributions to local non-profit organizations have been used for instructional material, computer equipment, and to support teambuilding and leadership programs. Change for Children is funded by unsolicited donations made by departing passengers using coin collection boxes located in the departures terminal at Sangster International Airport. In addition to the monetary contributions MBJ Airports has made to help sustain organizations that assist children in need, the airport operator has also provided support through the donation of furniture.

Nicholas Headley, Operations Manager at Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf, said the funds received thanks to Change for Children would be used primarily for equipment to upgrade the computer lab at the organization's Montego Bay campus. "It comes at a really, really good time as we are doing refurbishing of the facility," he said, adding, "We really are very grateful."

The Scout Association of Jamaica uses the funds for trophies, transport and food integral to the group's activities. "We depend solely on the private sector to support us with our funding. The donation from MBJ's Change for Children initiative is very important to us. It's been twice now that we've gotten assistance through this project and it's been very, very helpful, said Scout Association of Jamaica Chief Commissioner Maurice Brown.

Change for Children began with a proposal from US-based Richard Lackowitz of Island Health Care Services and Mark Kerr-Jarrett, Managing Director of Montego Bay real estate developer Barnett Limited. These two individuals remain instrumental to the initiative. In 2016, a mentorship component was launched with MBJ staff members volunteering their time to Change for Children.

warren-weir-screen-shot.jpgSo, Olympia Warren Weir got called out by his baby mother on social media over the weekend and he in turn took to Insta live on the verge of TEARS! to offer some kind of explanation? Yes, T-E-A-R-S. Is this guy for real?

Anyway, the story is that the 27-year-old Jamaican sprinter has a daughter who he has been keeping very secret. The daughter is not the child of his newly-broken-up-ex-girlfriend. The baby mother and Weir are seemingly not together, but she and Weir have a weird kind of relationship. So baby mama, who is not the girlfriend, took to Instagram on Sunday, May 7 to speak publicly on their situation for the first time.

warren-weir-baby-mama.jpg

According to her, Weir needs to make time and effort to see and bond with their nine month old daughter. And Gabrielle, the baby, is such a cutie pie.

Baby mama also blasted his on-and-off-now-ex-girlfriend Lexi for repeatedly trying to sabotage his relationship with the child.

In his Insta live Warren also plays the blame game - blaming everybody, except himself. Fans urged his to keep his composure and his silence, so he eventually signed off.

family-park-william-grant.jpgThe KSAC recently broke ground with the CHASE Fund to commence the construction of a Family Park at William Grant Park.

According to Senator Mayor Brown Burke "The Family Park will not only be a place of fun, relaxation and togetherness, but will also re-emphasize the celebration and importance of The Family where parents and children, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, religious organisations, students and adults will come to enjoy the facility, and feel a sense of belonging, a sense of pride and a sense of love. Where children of all ages will come to play, and they will learn through play: developing social and cognitive skills as they learn how to be kind to one another, how to look out for each other, how to negotiate their differences; gaining self confidence as they master new skills and teach others what they know."

Mayor Brown explained that "This idea was born out of the necessity to have a facility for children and families in Downtown Kingston, where families living in close proximity wouldn't need to go very far to enjoy a world class interactive park with distinctively thematic activity and play areas that are 'attention-grabbing' yet educational."

The full project is estimated to cost in excess of $50.0 Million Dollars the CHASE Fund will take up a major portion of this project to the tune of $20.7 Million Dollars which will go toward the building of the Mother Hen Corner, Journey to Africa and The Seashell Amphitheatre.

The KSAC will be actively engaging other partners to assist in the funding to funding of the other themed areas which are:• The Mosaic Space• Reggae Avenue• The Main Family Monument• the Tuck Shop• the Walking Trail• the restroom facility Structural Engineer Scheed Cole will be responsible for the execution of these area.

"Over 95% of the material to be used in the construction of the facility will be recycled material and it is for this reason that we I am using this opportunity to launch our plastic bottle collection drive and appeal to residents of Kingston and St. Andrew and the wider Jamaica, whether at the

level of the household or large companies to donate! donate! donate! as many of your plastic bottles as possible to help us with the completion of this awesome project, approximately 3million bottles will be needed," says Mayor Brown Burke. serena-williams-builds-school-in-jamaica.jpgJamaica looks set to benefit from a visit by tennis queen Serena Williams in more ways than one, with the sports star rolling up her sleeves and whipping out her chequebook to help build a school on the island.

ESPN reports that the project is funded through the 34-year-old sports icon's foundation in partnership with Helping Hands Jamaica to help build the Salt Marsh Primary School.

Apart from assisting with funding, the tennis ace is getting hands-on and doing some of the manual work herself, moreover.

On Tuesday she shared a short video on Instagram showing herself clad in an "I built a school with Serena" T-shirt and wearing goggles, gloves and a tool belt while painting a door at the new school.

The charitable work comes amidst some well-deserved downtime in Jamaica following the American champion's surprise defeat at the Australian Open last month.

Williams, who has won 21 Grand Slam titles, is chilling out on vacation at a luxury beachfront villa in Old Fort Bay near Ocho Rios, according to celebrity website TMZ.

Her US$20,000-a-week, three-acre vacation rental boasts a 10,000 square foot home with seven bedrooms, eight-and-a-half bathrooms, a thatched roof gazebo and outdoor bar, as well as the convenience of a nearby helipad.

The plush property also comes with a full complement of staff, including a butler, a chef and assistant-cook, housekeepers, a laundress, a gardener, and a pool and beach man.

Fit for a sports queen, the palatial getaway also comes with a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, a putting green, gym, massage room, kayaks and other watersports equipment

The oceanfront villa would not be complete without its clay tennis court, enabling Williams to maintain her winning form.

Cuthbert who is married to marketing executive Levaughn Flynn, and is a mother of a 27-year-old son, will turn 52 on April 9.

napkin-with-proper-table-etiquette.jpgAfter watching the video with a certain female deejay happily enjoying a spice meal onboard an aircraft and holding her utnsils - knife and fork -- in the wrong hands, we here at YardFlex decided to do a little feature on table etiquette:

The continental table manners style prevails at all meals, formal and informal, because it is a natural, non-disruptive way to eat.

Hold your fork in your left hand, tines downward.

Hold your knife in your right hand, an inch or two above the plate.

Extend your index finger along the top of the blade.

Use your fork to spear and lift food to your mouth.

If your knife is not needed, it remains on the table.

At informal meals the dinner fork may be held tines upward, American table manners style.

trial-of-governor-eyre.jpgExactly 150 years after Paul Bogle was hanged, Governor Edward John Eyre was yesterday found guilty of conspiracy to murder Bogle, George William Gordon, Leticia Geohagen, and Mary Ward.

In a two-hour-long re-enactment of the trial, including a less-than-five-minute jury deliberation, Eyre was lifted from the pages of the history books and dragged to the Morant Bay Resident Magistrate's Court to be tried by the people for the hangings which he ordered in response to the Morant Bay Uprising, led by Paul Bogle.

Bogle and his friend, George William Gordon, were hanged on October 24 and 25, respectively.

on Sunday, Eyre, described as a wilful, stiff, austere, puritanical son of a Yorkshire clergyman, took responsibility for hanging George William Gordon, who, he claimed, was responsible for the uprising. He was a bitter enemy of Gordon.

A Royal Commission found that Gordon was "illegally tried and wantonly hanged". Governor Eyre was recalled to England, where he was prosecuted before a grand jury, but was acquitted. In 1872, he was refunded the cost of his defence by the English government, and in 1901 he died.

Eyre was resurrected by attorney-at-law Bert Samuels and others who felt that justice was not served when he was acquitted and not tried for the deaths of the other martyrs. So Samuels wrote The Trial of Governor Edward John Eyre on behalf of the National Commission on Reparations, so that justice could, in fact, be served.

In a production directed by Michael Holgate, six witnesses took the stand to recount the atrocities of 1865.

Eyre, played by Bob Kerr, was defended by attorney-at-law Carlisle (Able-Don Foote), but also spoke in his own defence, declaring his innocence.

He rejected responsibility for the deaths of the four people, in the process referring to Paul Bogle as a ringleader and troublemaker. "In my role as governor of this island, I took the steps necessary for the protection of the colony," Eyre said, making reference to the martial law that he declared.

In summing up, prosecutor John Gorrie (Peter Abrikian) said, among other things, to the jury, "The declaration of martial law against the people was premature, brutal, and unwarranted ... . This indecent haste, where people lost their lives, must be corrected by you in your verdict."

In comparing the trial to the court martial, Eyre's attorney declared, "This trial is unfair. It's an unfair process ... and if you are fair, send a message of justice, a verdict of not guilty."

It was a message of justice, from the perspective of the people, that the jury sent when the foreman, played by Dennis Brown, found Governor Eyre guilty on all four counts. He was then led reluctantly from the docks, a dejected man, back into the annals of Jamaican history.

april-jackson-and-bolt.jpgApril Jackson 26, or Miss Jamaica Universe 2008 reportedly had a secret relationship with the world's fastest man Usain Bolt.

Jackson and Bolt 29, are said to have dated back in 2013 after meeting through a mutual friend.

"They were introduced in 2012 but it wasn't until the following year they got closer and started to date," a friend told popular UK tabloid The Sun.

"It was more than a fling and they developed feelings for each other. It was tricky because of Usain's busy schedule.Whenever he was in London they enjoyed going to clubs and having fun," the source reportedly told the Sun.

The pair reportedly ended their relationship because of Bolt's busy schedule.

Apirl Jackson represented Jamaica at the 2008 Miss Universe pageant in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She now owns her own boutique in the UK where she resides.

She is also a competitor on this season of The Apprentice, a popular UK reality show aired on BBC 1 in which a group of aspiring businessmen and women compete for the chance to win a L250,000 investment from British business magnate, Alan Sugar.

During her audition, Jackson made it clear that she has what it takes to win this season of The Apprentice.

"I'm Jamaican. We come first, we win on the track and we will win in the boardroom," Jackson said.

usain-bolt-stops-interview-for-us-national-anthem.jpgA true sportsman transcends nationalism; sportsmen respect each other no matter what. This is a glorious example of that kind of sportsmanship--Usain Bolt, the fastest man ever, stops an interview to pay respect a national anthem.

david-cameron-pig.jpgBrith Prime Minster David Cameron, who incidentally is still smarting from a "Pigsgate Scandal" after a tell-all book reported that he once placed his genitals in the mouth of a dead pig, wis coming to Jamaica next week.

His imminent visit to the island was confirmed by a Government source, however no reason was given for the visit, leading to much speculation.

Cameron's visit comes a few months after United States President Barack Obama's visit to Jamaica in April this year. Obama met with Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, members of her Cabinet as well as with CARICOM heads of state during his brief visit to the island.

Well, whatever the reason for the visit, we hope that it was plainly communicated to Cameron that he must not come to Jamaica without the reparation cheque. One suggestion is that Cameron must stop by Buckingham Palace and have the queen herself signed it. The value of the cheque should be about 10 billion pounds

Please and thank you Mr Cameron.

marcus-garvey-photo-2.jpgThe house in which National Hero Marcus Garvey grew up, in St. Ann's Bay, St. Ann, will be refurbished and transformed into a heritage site.

This was confirmed by Lisa Hanna, Minister of Youth & Culture Minister, during a ceremony to commemorate the 128th birthday of Garvey, Jamaica's first National Hero, held on the compound of the St. Ann Parish Library, in St. Ann's Bay, on Monday, August 17.

Read by Councillor Ian Bell of the Beecher Town Division of the St. Ann Parish Council, the message noted that the property on which the house is located, was declared a protected site in 1992, as the Government moved to ensure that the legacy and history of Marcus Garvey was preserved.

"The Ministry of Youth and Culture remains committed to preserving the legacy of this outstanding Jamaican, as we are ready to start plans to refurbish the house of Jamaica's first National Hero and transforming it into a heritage site," Miss Hanna said.

"We want to create an environment where Jamaicans at home and abroad can visit and pay tribute to a man who left a great legacy. It was he who said that 'a people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots'. Let us continue to embrace our rich cultural heritage and pass on the memories and traditions to the next generation," she added.

Miss Hanna said the celebration of Marcus Garvey's 128th birthday and the 51st year of him being named a National Hero presents an opportunity for the sharing of cultural heritage among the youth.

Ganja brownies anyone?

ganja-brownies.jpgBaker of the ganja brownies, Yah I is thankful for the "liberation" of the marijuana, with recent amendments to the law allowing persons to carry a small amount of the herb without being arrested.

The baker, artist, community motivator, and herbalist who hails from Lodge in St Ann is now seeking to make his ganja brownies into a profitable business venture.

"We have a recipe (just like how Kentucky has their secret recipe) wha we naa give to nobody until we set up an entity with a licence and labelled name. We're in the process of working on it," Yahi I said of his marijuana-flavoured brownies.

"Brownie is a cake that is made from the manifestation of the marijuana, which is transformed into oil, and we combine the oil with the chocolate. We buy Danish chocolate, or French vanilla, or cherry, and we integrate those and make an awesome taste," Yah I explained to Rural Xpress.

Yah I describes the brownie as a "happy cake" that is marketed for adults 18 years and over and which is good for the body.

"We have been eating all our lives just to fill our stomach. Now, the brownie cake is also for filling, but it leaves the internal atmosphere with a happy feeling. We're now having a happy food, so we call it the happy cake."

"We have elders with epilepsy, elders with chronic pain, elders with asthma, who are endorsing the cake and having release (relief) full time. So we give thanks that we could represent these things in this time and represent Rastafari."

Most of his support, however, reportedly comes from visitors who travel through Lodge to reach White River Valley, where attractions such as Wata Land and Blue Hole are located.

Businesses, offices and towns have an opportunity to showcase their creativity and decorative skills by adorning their space with the national colours, during the period of celebrations to mark Jamaica's Emancipation and Independence.

Public and private sector organisations all have the chance to vie for prizes and gain the prestige of having the best dressed window; and the best decorated office or business complex.

Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Stephen Davidson, said the competitions are new features that have been added to the list of celebratory activities for this year.

He noted that the idea is to get persons excited about their culture and to give everyone an opportunity to participate in the festivities.

Davidson said companies are encouraged to decorate their office or buildings using the national colours. They are also asked to use the fashion theme, which has been reintroduced this year - 'Bandana wid Denim, Ketch di Fashion Riddim' - in their decor.

"There is a prize given for the best business that incorporates the fashion theme and the national colours. Also, towns/parish councils are encouraged to decorate their town squares using the same national colours and the fashion theme and a prize will be given for the best decorated town," he said.

Media houses are not to be left out. An award will also be bestowed on the media house that best displays the spirit of independence in their programming, music and features.

"We are encouraging them to incorporate the theme for our Independence and Emancipation celebrations, 'Proud and Free...Jamaica 53'," Davidson said.

Why do some men wear jackets?

Webmin
No Comments

wear-jacket.jpgIn Jamaica, a 'jacket' is a child who is given to a man who is not the biological father. Please note that in most cases, the man genuinely believes that the child is his, even though his relatives and friends may be suspicious and point out their feelings to him.

Of note too is that men are known to wear 'jackets' with immense pride, even to the extent of loving the jackets even more than they love the children who are rightfully theirs.

Statistics show that up to seventy percent of Jamaican men are wearing 'jackets' and with the availability of DNA, more and more men are finding out for sure that the kids aren't theirs.

But, it is interesting that court records also show that many of these fathers, after the devastation of finding out that the child they have loved and nurtured for so long is a jacket, simply bounce back and go through the legal system and legally adopt the children.

So big up to all Jamaican man who love up dem jacket pickney. After all, it's not the child's fault.

If the jacket fits, wear it.After all, it takes more than the donation of some sper to be a great dad.

"Nuff man disrespect Snoop Lion, but dem fi know seh Rastafari is love and love has no limit nor barrier nor face. Snoop Dog dem grow up into a different system. They had people like Martin Luther King and Farrakhan yes," he said.

"So if they (foreigners) see the light wey Rastafarian a show, we can't declare war. Religion is confusion and Rastafari is not a religion. The love of Rastafari don't come with fight, nor bun, nor to invoke physical violence against no human nor no race...Rastafari is love," he said.

malia-and-sasha-photo-1.jpgSure, Michelle Obama might dress in local designer duds wherever she travels, most recently wearing a multicolor knit Missoni dress in Italy, but it's her daughters that truly capture the culture in their clothes choices. Sasha and Malia Obama landed in Milan on Wednesday with Sasha leading the way down the air-stairs in a sweet seersucker mini dress and cognac leather gladiator sandals. Her sister, on the other hand wore an illusion two-piece heather gray jersey dress with white Mary Janes.

And while FLOTUS went off with Chef Mario Batali to preach to Italians that maybe so many carbs and wine without at least a little exercise might not be the greatest lifestyle choice, the teenagers went off to explore the European city on their own (aka with secret service, paparazzi, and an entire posse of other people). Sasha was summer ready in white shorts with blue flowers, a chambray top, white quilted slip-on sneakers, and blue tinted wayfarers. Her sister, Malia, was in a more understated ensemble, wearing tailored black trouser shorts, a white crop top lined with frills, and leather lace-up gladiator sandals.

On Thursday, they visited 10 Corso Como, Carla Sozzani's concept store in Piazza 25 Aprile. Sasha,14, went for head-to-toe white in cropped, distressed skinny jeans, a very trendy off-the-shoulder blouse and slip-on sneakers. Malia, 17, wore a black and white romper and the same sandals her sister had on when she disembarked the plane.

Yet their Italian street style, while certainly cool, makes a bigger statement than just that. Unlike their mother, who wears designer pieces from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Isabel Toledo, and Jason Wu to name a few, and even has many of her dresses custom made, her daughters wear Zara, Brandi Melville, and Vans. Their fashion's not on a pedestal above the rest of their demographic and despite their home address, their perks and privileges don't stand out as special.

Since they stepped on the style scene in J. Crew at their father's inauguration in 2009, they haven't inspired girls to grab for their parents' credit cards, instead they've encapsulated the current market and put it on a national scale. They're not icons, they're just a representation of the masses - and isn't that what everyone wants in a first family?malia-and-sasha-photo-2.jpg

dianna-ross-photo-1.jpgShe may be 71 -years-old but Diana Ross is still working as hard as she was when she first hit the music scene.

The singer has just completed a series of concerts in Hawaii - her first despite having a singing career spanning over six decades.

And decided to take advantage of being in the tropical location to have a break from her busy schedule.

Diana was enjoying the sunshine on Thursday and looked relaxed and happy as she soaked up the rays.

Dressed in a black swimsuit and colorful sarong she went for a walk in some tropical gardens.

Her trademark luxurious locks fanned out in the breeze as she took her sojourn in the sun.

Diana's beach garb featured a floral pattern in cerise, yellow and orange, and she teamed it with a pair of oversized black sunglasses.

The Can't Hurry Love singer seemed relaxed and happy as she sauntered through the beachside resort, and stopped for a brief rest before carrying on.

One thing that was apparent was Diana seems to have recovered from injuries she had to both knees, which saw her in braces in January.

The mother-of-five was snapped wearing the contraptions over a comfy outfit of Adidas trainers, sweat pants and zipped hoodie while out shopping

It is not clear how Diana has damaged her legs, but she had been previously known to use a wheelchair to navigate airports on occasion.dianna-ross-photo-2.jpg

ht-first-church-cannabis-sign.jpgThese aren't your traditional Holy Rollers.

The First Church of Cannabis, established in Indianapolis, Indiana, will launch its inaugural service on July 1, joining an emerging trend of marijuana-based ministries such as The United Cannabis Ministry of California and Hawaii and The Healing Church of Rhode Island.

Though unaffiliated with one another, all are united in at least one principle of worship: Ganja is godly.

"[I was] inspired by love and my compassion for fellow humans," First Church of Cannabis founder William Levin told ABC News, regarding his decision to form the mission. "We had a lot of fertilizer in our state thanks to our governor, so it bloomed quickly..."

Timed to debut the same day the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) goes into effect, the First Church of Cannabis has already attracted more than 42,000 followers on Facebook and is expecting a massive attendance at its first meeting, said Levin, who will lead sermons.

The self-titled "Grand Poobah" and "Minister of Love" said his service format will include four introductory songs, followed by an "interactive celebration of life."

"At the end, we all rise and read the Deity Dozen, and at the end of the 12th Pathway we light up," he said.

Tenets of the Deity Dozen, a sort of Ten Commandments for the church's cannabiterian membership, range from starting the day with a smile to spending 10 minutes per day in quiet contemplation to "Do not be a 'troll' on the internet."

"Cannabis, 'the Healing Plant' is our sacrament," reads the description of the 12th Pathway. "It brings us closer to ourselves and others. It is our fountain of health, our love, curing us from illness and depression. We embrace it with our whole heart and spirit, individually and as a group."

While the church has no legal authority to grow, sell, trade or donate cannabis in the state of Indiana, congregants will be free to smoke on church premises, under the protection of the RFRA.

But attendees should not expect to hear psalms, gospels or feel pressured to even use the words "amen" or "hallelujah."

"We will not use any old books," Levin said. "No guilt, sin or judgement. We teach the teachings of love and life... Same as the old guys did, just with a modern pitch to it."

Many who have gotten a whiff of this message have responded enthusiastically online.

"Please let me know if there is any way I can help with the building of this church," wrote one follower of the church's Facebook page. "Our world needs more love and it seems like this church WILL do that."

"I'm not for religion, personally," echoed another comment. "Much more on the side of spirituality and freedom of choosing one's way from many paths, if need be. However ... I have more faith in this being a genuinely GOOD religion than most other paths in this country. Thank you all for running with this! One Toke, One Smile, One Love, all!"

usain-model.jpgUsain Bolt has seen his rank among the highest paid athletes in the world fall significantly, but not because of a major decline in his earnings.

Influential business magazine, Forbes, estimates the athlete earned US$21 million in the last 12 months, which was enough to rank him at number 73 among the top earning athletes in the world. That was just US$2 million lower than the US$23 million he earned in the prior year which had him ranked at 46th.

Bolt picks up most of his earnings from endorsements with Puma, his chief sponsor, responsible for US$10 million of the amount through to the 2017 World Championships, which is the year in which he is expected to retire.

After retirement, Puma is contracted to pay him US$4 million a year through to 2025.

The top five earning athletes last year were boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, footballers Critiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and Tennis star Roger Federer.

Did you know the Flotus is #TeamNatural?

michelle-obama-flotus.jpgDid you know that the First Lady, Michelle Obama is a naturalista!

Yes, you read correctly. Michelle Obama stopped chemically treating her hair years ago. Celebrity stylist Johnny Wright, who takes care of the FLOTUS' tresses, recently discussed Lady O's hair with The Root.

Instead of relying on chemicals, Wright says that he straightens Lady O's hair with a flat iron. While he wouldn't say for sure whether or not we'll ever see Mrs. Obama stepping out rocking her natural 'fro, Wright says that it's definitely a possibility.

"I don't know. Maybe on vacation she will," he shared. "She is 100 percent natural now. It is a possibility."

While Wright says that he doesn't subscribe to the notion of good and bad hair, he thoroughly supports the natural hair movement, which the First Lady has embraced.

"I think a lot of women are starting to see what type of damage chemicals has caused their hair over the years, and they're really starting to embrace their curls and really embrace the fact that they can be versatile," Wright said.

"They can wear it curly. They can wear it straight. They don't have to really conform to any particular look. They can do it all, and that's one thing that is going to stick. That's the revolution part of it. ... The revolution part will stick. All about curl power."

Love it.

lisa-hanna-and-richard.jpgMember of Parliament and former Miss World, Lisa Hanna looks all set to tie the knot.

She went wedding dress shopping recently and took to Instagram on Thursday to give an update to her almost 200k followers.

"Went to two designers. I'm certainly NOT interested in trying anymore. Did it to see what all the Hype was about," the former beauty queen wrote. "Not me at all.

The KSAC will be actively engaging other partners to assist in the funding to funding of the other themed areas which are:• The Mosaic Space• Reggae Avenue• The Main Family Monument• the Tuck Shop• the Walking Trail• the restroom facility Structural Engineer Scheed Cole will be responsible for the execution of these area.

level of the household or large companies to donate! donate! donate! as many of your plastic bottles as possible to help us with the completion of this awesome project, approximately 3million bottles will be needed," says Mayor Brown Burke. serena-williams-builds-school-in-jamaica.jpgJamaica looks set to benefit from a visit by tennis queen Serena Williams in more ways than one, with the sports star rolling up her sleeves and whipping out her chequebook to help build a school on the island.

On Tuesday she shared a short video on Instagram showing herself clad in an "I built a school with Serena" T-shirt and wearing goggles, gloves and a tool belt while painting a door at the new school.

serena-williams-wimbledon-champ.jpg

Cuthbert represented Jamaica years ago at the Olympics and World Championships where she earned, bronze, silver and gold medals.

But though she is no longer competing in sports, Cuthbert is competing politically.

She is the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) candidate for West Rural St Andrew.

trial-of-governor-eyre.jpgExactly 150 years after Paul Bogle was hanged, Governor Edward John Eyre was yesterday found guilty of conspiracy to murder Bogle, George William Gordon, Leticia Geohagen, and Mary Ward.

Please and thank you Mr Cameron.

usain-bolt-ireland-rugby-team-player.jpgTrack legend, Usain Bolt, after winning three more gold medals at the World Championships, paid a very special visit to the Ireland rugby team ahead of their appearance at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.

The group of 40 players and management were thrilled as they entered the team room to find Bolt waiting to meet everyone and share his thoughts on preparation and performance at major championships.

Bolt delivered a strong message to the team and left them with one fundamental piece of advice - "It's the sport you love, so enjoy the moment."

He added: "When you enjoy what you do, you perform to the best of your ability."

Ireland team members clearly enjoyed the moment with Bolt and even joined the charismatic Jamaican to perform his signature pose. The runner was also presented with a signed Ireland rugby jersey and an engraved piece of Irish silver.

The 2015 Rugby World Cup in England gets underway on Friday, September 18. Ireland kicks off their campaign against Canada at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.

marcus-garvey-photo-2.jpgThe house in which National Hero Marcus Garvey grew up, in St.

If the jacket fits, wear it.After all, it takes more than the donation of some sper to be a great dad.

ras-myrhdak.jpgEntertainer Ras Myrhdak is promoting a new single called Inna Di Business, as well as Big Dread, which is a diss to Fantan Mojah and in the process has made a headline-grabbing statement about it being okay for some Rastas to indulge in oral sex.

Love it.

Apocalypse coming September 23?

Webmin
No Comments

end-times.jpgSeptember 23 this year is set to mark the beginning of the apocalypse, according to several conspiracy theorists and doom-mongers.

This is what she had to say on Twitter, as she posted a pic of her little man sound asleep..

"Nap time be like...???????????? ??????. I love my baby so much words can't explain. It really is something you have to experience for urself to really know the feeling. But having him and loving him beyond verbal expression makes me wonder about the mothers who mistreat their babies and how insane they must be, and it also makes me aware of how great God is to bring parents through the pain of loosing a child. Anyways, whether you're experiencing the challenges of raising a child or if your child has gone to Heaven, it is only by the grace of God that we are able to make the decisions that are right for ourselves and our loved ones each day. #LifeChanging #SelfLesslyLiving #SuperBabyPowers #AllinAdaysLove."

serena-williams-builds-school-in-jamaica.jpgJamaica looks set to benefit from a visit by tennis queen Serena Williams in more ways than one, with the sports star rolling up her sleeves and whipping out her chequebook to help build a school on the island.

On Tuesday she shared a short video on Instagram showing herself clad in an "I built a school with Serena" T-shirt and wearing goggles, gloves and a tool belt while painting a door at the new school.

serena-williams-wimbledon-champ.jpg

The oceanfront villa would not be complete without its clay tennis court, enabling Williams to maintain her winning form.

trial-of-governor-eyre.jpgExactly 150 years after Paul Bogle was hanged, Governor Edward John Eyre was yesterday found guilty of conspiracy to murder Bogle, George William Gordon, Leticia Geohagen, and Mary Ward.

He was then led reluctantly from the docks, a dejected man, back into the annals of Jamaican history.

usain-bolt-stops-interview-for-us-national-anthem.jpgA true sportsman transcends nationalism; sportsmen respect each other no matter what.

Please and thank you Mr Cameron.

usain-bolt-ireland-rugby-team-player.jpgTrack legend, Usain Bolt, after winning three more gold medals at the World Championships, paid a very special visit to the Ireland rugby team ahead of their appearance at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.

If the jacket fits, wear it.After all, it takes more than the donation of some sper to be a great dad.

ras-myrhdak.jpgEntertainer Ras Myrhdak is promoting a new single called Inna Di Business, as well as Big Dread, which is a diss to Fantan Mojah and in the process has made a headline-grabbing statement about it being okay for some Rastas to indulge in oral sex.

"Nuff man disrespect Snoop Lion, but dem fi know seh Rastafari is love and love has no limit nor barrier nor face. Snoop Dog dem grow up into a different system. They had people like Martin Luther King and Farrakhan yes," he said.

"But Martin Luther King and Farrakhan dem nuh grow up to the roots like Rasta wey sey thou shall not bow, thou shall not eat meat, thou shall not nyam vagina ... . nobody told them that it's wrong, so they see it as right because they grew up in that livity."

The artiste pointed out that Rastafarianism is not a religion and should not be treated as such.

"So if they (foreigners) see the light wey Rastafarian a show, we can't declare war. Religion is confusion and Rastafari is not a religion. The love of Rastafari don't come with fight, nor bun, nor to invoke physical violence against no human nor no race...Rastafari is love," he said.

"If he is speaking love and speaking positive, we endorse him. We have artistes like Papa San and Stitchie who seh Christianity. Who are we to reject Snoop Dogg when the almighty did not reject us? Any man under locks weh a talk bout bun Snopp, yuh wrong because love is love."

malia-and-sasha-photo-1.jpgSure, Michelle Obama might dress in local designer duds wherever she travels, most recently wearing a multicolor knit Missoni dress in Italy, but it's her daughters that truly capture the culture in their clothes choices.

Love it.
