West face of the United States Supreme Court b...

A US Federal Court on Wednesday morning denied former Tivoli Gardens strongman, Christopher "Dudus" Coke's motion to have the wiretap evidence against him excluded from his trial.
Coke, who was extradited to the United States in June, last year, is charged with conspiring to distribute marijuana and cocaine in that country, and conspiring to traffic in firearms.
The motion to have the wiretap evidence thrown out was filed on June 13  in the United States District Court in the Southern District of New York.
The move was aimed at suppressing the controversial wiretap evidence which assisted in Coke's arrest on gun and drug trafficking charges.
According to the Court's order, the Supreme Court in Jamaica issued a series of orders authorizing interception of Coke and his co-conspirators' cell phones in Jamaica,  beginning in 2004.
The court found however, that Coke fell short of establishing that the conduct of US or Jamaican officials had violated his due process rights.
Coke's trial is scheduled to begin on September 12.

Khajeel Mais laid to rest

The Right Reverend Robert Thompson, Bishop of Kingston on Saturday urged family members of 17 year old Khajeel Mais to take comfort and reminded them that they had the support of  many others who had lost loved ones to violent circumstances.

"We lift you up because in many ways we know that you are mourning not only for your son but you are mourning for the thousands of innocents and the blood that flows from their lives because of violence in this country," he told the Mais family during the thanksgiving service for the life of Khajeel at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kingston.

The incident surrounding the late former Kingston College student's death came to prominence two weeks ago following a bizarre shooting incident in which he was shot in the head.

The case has since sparked public outcry of an innocent life cut short.

Family and friends described Kajeel as "kind and full of promise" as they paid tribute at the thanksgiving service.

The teen was shot dead on July 1, while driving in a taxi, in Havendale, St Andrew.

Khajeel was reportedly heading to a school fete, when the taxi collided with an X-6 SUV.   The driver of the SUV allegedly fired on the taxi in which the teen was a passenger.

Ziggy Marley releases pro hemp/marijuana song

Ziggy Marley has released his latest song, a pro-hemp anthem entitled "A Fire Burns for Freedom".

This song will be offered as part of a larger set of free downloads, called the Wild and Free Singles offered by the reggae star and his record label, Tuff Gong Worldwide.

The Wild and Free Singles available at www.ziggymarley.com, indicates that the songs are freely available but also highlighted what Ziggy believes should be the natural state of marijuana and the related plant hemp.

"We need to enlighten people about the multiple uses the plant has beyond its recreational, spiritual and medicinal uses. This plant in both its forms, hemp and marijuana, is a gift from nature to us.

It has medicinal value, environmental value, nutritional value, as well as energy value.

The seeds of the plant could cheaply provide nutrition for malnourished children all over the world. We should free the plant in all aspects of its uses," Ziggy said.

In the song, he goes further to make his point, "Denied the tree of life, sold us your lies, this damned hypocrisy costs so many lives."

"A Fire Burns For Freedom" is the second song released in his Wild and Free Series, and comes on the heels of his first release, "Africa Land", which supported another historic moment: Africa's hosting of the 2010 World Cup for the first time.

Ziggy Marley is a five-time Grammy winner and reggae icon, whose early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father.

Then, as front man to Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, Marley released eight best-selling albums, generating three Grammys, with such chart-topping hits as "Tomorrow People" and "Tumbling Down."

Marley's solo debut, Dragonfly, was released in 2003.

His second solo release, Love Is My Religion, which was released on his own record label, Tuff Gong Worldwide, won a Grammy to much critical acclaim in 2006.

His third solo release, Family Time, also on his own label, scored him his fifth Grammy.

His next album, slated for release in the summer of 2011, is tentatively entitled Wild and Free.

Color Him Father

The Winstons

There's a man at my house he's so big and strong
He goes to work each day, stays all day long
He comes home each night looking tired and beat
He sits down at the dinner table and has a bite to eat
Never a frown always a smile
When he says to me how's my child
I've been studying hard all day in school
Tryin' to understand the golden rule

Think I'll color this man father
I think I'll color him love
Said I'm gonna color him father
I think I'll color the man love, yes I will

He says education is the thing if you wanna compete
Because without it son, life ain't very sweet
I love this man I don't know why
Except I'll need his strength till the day that I die
My mother loves him and I can tell
By the way she looks at him when he holds my little sister Nell
I heard her say just the other day
That if it hadn't been for him she wouldn't have found her way
My real old man he got killed in the war
And she knows she and seven kids couldn't of got very far
She said she thought that she could never love again
And then there he stood with that big wide grin
He married my mother and he took us in
And now we belong to the man with that big wide grin

Think I'll color this man father
I think I'll color him love
Said I'm gonna color him father

A song for mom

Sometimes you want to find the right words to say ‘thank you’ to all those caring moms, but words just eludes you. Good thing there are songwriters out there who can effectively capture your thoughts and put it to sweet music. For all the great mom’s out there, this one is for you.

A Song For Mama

Written by Babyface

Performed by Boyz II Men

You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life, yeah
There isn't anything
Or anyone I can be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side

You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You'll always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times

Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

You're always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong

Yes you did
And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on

There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life

Hook

Never gonna go a day without you
Fills me up just thinking about you
I'll never go a day without my mama

Where were the mothers?

Yardflex commentary

We listened with horror the news about little six-year-old Evon Spencer whose life was brutally snuffed out when his throat was slashed. The Frankfield community is now in a uproar and everyone supposedly affected by his death.

For all that they could lead various news teams to the hell hole he was living in, they had horror stories to tell of the hard life the young child was living.

A graphic description came in yesterday’s Gleaner where neighbours claim to notice his “little eyes peeping through the hole” from time to time.

The sad reality about all this is that everyone seemed to have a clue what was happening and there was no one who felt concerned enough to help rescue the child.

Where were the mothers who should putting young Evon in the place of their child and therefore feel moved enough to do something about the situation.

A phone call to the police, a call to the Child Development Agency, a talk to the pastor…anything in an attempt to aid a helpless child.

In our eyes they are all just as guilt as the man who placed the knife at that little boy’s throat. They all KNEW what was happening and no one choose to do anything. That is the greatest sin of all. They should be ashamed of themselves now coming forward to talk about what was happening.

Young Evon is no ore but sadly there will be other cases of abused children with adults choosing to sit by and do nothing.

Our prayer is that the cycle will change and everyone will be everyone’s neighbor and do the right thing.

Happy Easter for you and yours

Yardflex takes this time to wish one and all of our readers a happy Easter season. Remember it's not all about bun, cheese and fish, it's really about the great sacrifice Jesus paid on the cross when he died for our sins.

Take this time to reflect on the supreme sacrifice and if you can try and spread that love to your fellow man.

Caltariba system - Etana

Verse One
There is a little place in Africa
Where all the children died of aids
And there is a little place called Jamaica
Children loose their lives in first grade
And there is a little place in Asia
Children loose their lives to bombs and grenade
And there is a little place called America
Children are growing up being afraid
Caught up in the system

Chorus (x2)
Don't wanna be caught up
Don’t wanna be caught up in deh oh oh in deh
Don’t wanna be caught up don't wanna be caught up
In deh oh oh in deh.

Verse Two
Were are living in a crazy lazy word
Most people fight for power not peace
And we are living in a crazy lazy world
Only Jah can save us from the belly of the beast
Caught up in the system
Don’t wanna be a victim

Chorus (x2)
Don't wanna be caught up
Don’t wanna be caught up in deh oh oh in deh
Don’t wanna be caught up don't wanna be caught up
In deh oh oh in deh.

Verse Three
Say there is no more chains
Round their feet or round their necks
But the trick is it’s all in the brain
Fighting everyday that's the price you have to pay
For the birth right that you gave away. Gave away.
