Zumjay got hitched to his high school sweetheart, Aviesha in a small intimate ceremony involving family and friends yesterday at a cathedral in Manhattan, New York in the United States.

"We tied the knot at about 1 p.m.yesterday. It was a small ceremony, just close friends, my bredrin Cassette Jones was there as the witness, my deejay bredrin Ice from New York, and also, a couple of the bride's friends, Adanna Thomas and Sean O'Connor. 'Lenky' Marsden, my producer, friend and manager was there was well; he was the best man," Zumjay told YardFlex.com.

The couple met 10 years ago, while both were attending Hydel High school. After graduating, Zumjay entered the music business while Aviesha attended Cornell University where she majored in Economics, Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Zumjay popped the question on October 29th, two days after his 'Red Carpet' dance in Jamaica. The two had got recacquainted with each other a few years ago when they hooked up over the Internet.

...when we met again, the world stood still and it was all about me and her, we knew we had to tie the knot," he told YardFlex.com.

"I knew it, no one made me feel the way she made me love, it is a match made in heaven, I have never loved any other girl in my life. She is the only girl I have ever loved, I was fascinated, I liked other girls but I was never in love with any other girl. She is the one," he said.

Jamaican Public Health Guru Makes Global AIDS History

By: Janice Dayle

Deloris_Dockrey_beside_dress_made_of_condoms.jpgThe Global Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS (GNP+) elected Deloris Dockrey as Chairperson of their Board of Directors at an August 2006 annual general meeting held in Toronto. "Never before has a woman or a member who originates from the developing world been elected to lead this group," Dockrey explained while gearing up to face a term of successes and inevitable challenges. Her election occurred prior to repeated calls during the recent International AIDS Conference - that signalled a need for more women leaders in the fight against HIV/AIDS - the unprecedented global challenge that puts everyone, but particularly women, in overwhelmingly vulnerable positions.

Hailing from St Elizabeth, Jamaica, Dockrey, 46, is no stranger to pioneering roles, as she is a founding member of the Global Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS North America (GNP+NA), and has been working in AIDS since 1999.

Residing in the United States since 1987, Dockrey speaks candidly about her experiences and is absolutely dedicated to not only facilitating HIV/AIDS awareness within global communities, but also more specifically to addressing the unique and sometimes oppressive or complicated situations that face people living with HIV/AIDS in their everyday lives. Dockrey described the GNP+ mandate as being, a mission to improve the quality of lives of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) by adopting the global advocacy agenda that focuses on access to treatment and care, issues of stigma and discrimination and the greater involvement of PLWHA (GIPA) - in the decisions that affect their lives.

Citing a return to normalcy as the dream of every PLWHA, Dockrey recounted the devastating affects of her own HIV diagnosis in 1994, which included dire trepidation of disclosure, not only to family members, but also within her professional community. Armed with a Masters Degree in Public Health, Dockrey quickly realised her unique position and made the decision to put a positive spin on what seemed to be a world of disillusion, condescension and often mayhem for PLWHA.

To date, Dockrey's long list of achievements in the HIV/AIDS struggle, includes being the Executive Director of Newark Ryan White Planning Council and she was recently selected to represent GNP+ and the International Community of Women living with HIV/AIDS (ICW) on the World AIDS Campaign (WAC) Global Steering Committee. The WAC steering committee is the driving force behind the annual internationally recognised World AIDS Day.

As she takes hold of the massive reins that steer GNP+, Dockrey is undaunted by the task at hand. "We need to galvanize the network, becoming a professional voice in prevention, treatment and care," she stated. With a commitment to evidence based policy approaches, Dockrey is eager to continue moving GNP+ forward as a network rooted in communities of PLWHA from around the world.

In mirroring GNP+, its 6 regional networks - CRN+ (Caribbean region), APN+ (Asia Pacific region), GNP+NA (North American region), GNP+Europe (European region), NAP+ (African region) and REDLa+ (Latin American region) achieve their goals by lobbying, linking and sharing. Lobbying for inclusion of PLWHA and their interests, linking PLWHA through diverse local, regional and global communications strategies and sharing knowledge with capacity building efforts at all levels.

ICC Cricket World Cup - progressing smoothly

By Melton Williams

westindies-cricket.jpgWith less than 100 days to go before the start of the biggest sporting event in the Caribbean and the third largest sporting event - the ICC Cricket World Cup, Jamaica's preparation is progressing smoothly.

This was revealed by Robert Bryan, executive director of Jamaica Local Organizing Committee at a press briefing at Jampro's training room.

The World Cup will be played in eight territories in the region, each receiving different packages. Jamaica was granted the Yellow Package and will host the Opening Ceremony, one semi-final game and six first round matches. The seven games in Jamaica will be played at Sabina Park. All territories must be ready for handing over to the ICC Cricket World Cup, three weeks before the start of the event.
Jamaica was mandated to construct and refurbish two stadiums and following a recent ICC Venue Tour, the island was giving passing grades.

Bryan said 'this obviously was confirmed by the comments and assessment of the CWC and ICC tour officials. We however are very mindful that with less than 100 days before the start of the events here in Jamaica there is still a lot to be done. We must avoid complacency and stay focused on the job at hand. There is absolutely no doubt that our stadiums will be completed on time for handing over to the ICC CWC 21 days before the start of the event."

Bryan also said that the LOC has cemented agreement with other critical sites for the venue operation at Sabina Park. These include Emmett Park, the Holy Trinity School grounds and the lands to locate the search park on South Camp Road. He noted that the LOC should take possession of Emmett Park from December 1.

The other areas of preparation are also progressing at a good pace according to Bryan. The Volunteer Programme has received over 2000 applications; the Sunset Legislation was passed thereby establishing the legal framework for the hosting of the event, the Transportation Plan is being finalised, having received assistance from the United States Department of Transport. This was arranged by the assistance of the USAID office here in Jamaica.

He also noted that the Park and Ride locations have been secured with the exception of the National Heroes' Park. A medical master plan has been developed and approved by the ICC.

Bryan said "We are still trying to negotiate an affordable fee with the National Solid Waste Management Authority. The LOC is presently out to tender for the supply of the required transport services."
Bryan further noted that the ICC CWC 2007 needs to be marketed and promoted internationally more aggressively than now appears to be the case.

He said "for our part here in Jamaica and within that context we have developed in association with the Jamaica Tourist Board an extensive programme.

"This programme focuses on three areas - firstly, the normal destination marketing of the board which successful bring two million tourists per year to Jamaica; secondly, on opening new market opportunities arising from Cricket World Cup, Ireland and India and thirdly, the Jamaican Diaspora.

He said that the LOC feels that Jamaican Diaspora needs to also take ownership of the event and as an integral part of the host nation see it as their responsibility to come home and help Jamaica host the event in the best possible way.

Ras Ptah a.k.a Gala P says 'War is Not the Answer'

RasPtah-Reggae-Dancehall-SexyGirls.jpgRas Ptah a.k.a Gala P is very concerned about the violent content of dancehall music today.

"It come in like in dancehall today, if you nah say yu will kill a man, and cut out him heart, yu not getting any respect...yet still the radio ah flood with these bloody songs, ah just killing and violence that is being fed to the people daily, and you can see the effect of that on our children and in the ghettoes," Ras Ptah told YardFlex.com.

Unperturbed by the bias towards 'gangsta music', Ras Ptah has pressed along with his cultural agenda of peace and love, throwing in a couple of 'party songs' as well.

"I have a new party song, 'Shake Baby Shake' which mash up Asylum Girls Night this week. The streets love it, even mi friend Colin Roach call me from foreign fi hail me up, people ah respond to me on the road, me ah get mad love from the artiste, even Elephant Man hail me, the thing ah soak in to the people, ah just mad love. Right now, mi feel 'Tell Everybody' ah the real reality tune fi the people dem, the amount of people who call me 'bout that song, it is unbelievable. Me ah go tek it to dem fi the Christmas," he said.

He will be performing at Mavado's Birthday Splash at Arizon Inn, and on Sunday, Stone Love Anniversary.

Third World & Dean Fraser Rock at Jazz on the Bay

By: Janice Dayle

thirdworld-DeanFrazer-ReggaeMusic-Jamaica.jpg

Reggae icons Third World and Dean Fraser had crowds in a frenzy on November 26 at the City of Miami production - Jazz on the Bay Brunch. Joined by the equally celebrated and outstanding Winston "Merritone" Blake and Earl Grey, these life long hit makers and crowd thrillers afforded organisers and sponsors immense success as they blazed the Peacock Park Coconut Grove with hit after hit.

Pleased with their overwhelming success, Third World Band members expressed their delight at having such longevity in the Reggae music business. "We have just celebrated 33 years in the business and 2006 was the busiest," Bunny Rugs said. Recently back from a European tour that stopped in Australia and Japan, Third World is performing throughout the United States for four weeks. Every weekend they have been taking their electrifying music to different islands - as there is just no slowing down their stimulating sound.

Bunny Rugs spoke in praise of all Reggae musicianship and in making specific reference to modern controversial lyrical content he said, "Different audiences like different things." In his view the business of music hasn't changed over the years, but rather grown to match an ever evolving world of artists, music and fans.

Jazz on The Bay audiences were served an exciting repertoire by Third World that included a tribute to Bob Marley with a few of his hits. Eternal number one Third World songs, "Now that We Found Love" and "Committed" gained tumultuous applause.

"Artist appeal determined our selection for this show," Garfield Price, of Infinite Market stated. Being one of the elated sponsors, Price projects there will be more joint promotions with the City in the future.

Celebrities sighted at the production included, Jamaica Consul General, the Honourable Ricardo Alicock, Shottas star, Paul Campbell and Kenyatta.

RASE TV getting "In The Zone"

By: Janice Dayle

Rasetv-ReggaeSoca-Dancehall.jpgMONTREAL:
With a quarter of season two behind them Reggae And Soca Entertainment TV (RASE TV) media production company in Canada is proud of the evolution of their groundbreaking programming, eloquently called - "In The Zone." Airing this season through Toronto based SUN TV, "In The Zone" is being accessed by a wider cross section of the Canadian audience.

Born from merging the talents of two passionate and gifted Montrealers, Lisa "Lisa J" Joseph and Valentine "Prymtym" Latty, RASE TV opened its doors in 2004 with the release of a DVD and an opening statement that said - "We need to have Caribbean content on mainstream media in Canada, since there is a demand for it," Prymtym explained. The DVD was proof of an existing strong Canadian content in the Caribbean genre. Prymtym described the DVD production as one that demonstrated how a well designed blend of reggae and soca from international, regional and national levels could be presented from a Canadian perspective, enhancing its relevance in Canada.

Both media aces Prymtym and Lisa J, have shared the job of lead show host for the annual Montreal International Reggae Festival and recognized the immense enthusiasm and demand for Caribbean entertainment from audience response to that festival. With all this encouragement "In The Zone" DVDs became a 30 minute television segment that progressed to include "In The Zone" radio program heard on CFMB 1280 AM on Saturdays between 9:00 and 11:00PM.

Season two of "In The Zone" television is a bit different from last year’s season one, with a shift in lead and co-host - as Lydia Patel takes over from Lisa J as lead host and Don Smooth relieves Prymtym who has moved behind the camera. Lisa J is wrapped up in administrative duties as she takes on co-producing the Canadian Reggae Star segment that augments not only "In The Zone" program but the spirit of reggae music in Canada.

Talent searches in Canada have become an artistic tradition, but the brand new Canadian Reggae Star competition, broadcast within the final 15 minutes of each week's "In The Zone" television show - is unique. Hundreds of singers audition from across Canada and judges wind it down to five finalists who will compete for the Reggae Star title. With that title comes prizes that include a recording contract to produce a single with Shocking Vibes of Kingston, Jamaica and the chance to appear on The Montreal International Reggae Festival.

Catch "In The Zone" on Rogers Cable, Rogers Digital, Bell ExpressVu Starchoice and Videotron each Thursday at 11:30pm in Canada.

Reggae songstress Alaine - "I feel God is directing my life"

By: Claude Mills
Photos by: Carlington Wilmot

Alaine-Singer-DancehallSexyGirlsxxxxCarlingtonWilmot-YardFlex.jpgReggae songstress Alaine never gets tired of people coming up to her and saying with complete innocence:

"I love your song, yu have any more?".

The song everyone seems so hopelessly enamoured with is the breakout charmer carved in lover's rock oak, 'No Ordinary Love'.

And even though she is an established force in the business, what some artiste might have misinterpreted as a 'complisult' (compliment and insult in one) never rubs Alaine the wrong way because the song occupies a special place in her heart as well.

"That song has wings, and I got a lot of promotion from people who have heard and loved that song, I get comments from people who say that song made them fall in love again, and that's an incredible feeling," she told YardFlex.com.

The song charted on the New York Reggae Charts as well as on various Caribbean and Jamaican charts, and the music video has also quickly become a favorite among viewers and was the number one requested video for five straight weeks on one of Jamaica's largest video request shows called the E-Strip.

"The video also got play on MTV Tempo, and was one of their top ten most requested songs, and that has given the song more wings because people in the Caribbean are hearing the song and seeing me," Alaine said.

Alaine pauses here as Razz, the selector from the dynamic duo, Razz and Biggy, enters the Red Hills Road studio. As he squeezes past her, she reaches out a demure hand and rubs his belly in sisterly sort of way. We're not sure if he misinterprets the gesture, but he giggles like a schoolboy intoxicated by the first blush of love.

But it is easy to understand Razz's reaction. The American born, Jamaican-raised Alaine is a 5'8 stunner. To spend a few minutes with her is to be captivated. Being in the corona of her presence could inspire you to quote Shakespeare....the brightness of her cheek would shame those stars (Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II). It is easy to be impressed by her intellect, her authenticity and to be blown away by the steely ambition and passionate drive beneath those soft curves and bedroom eyes.
Alaine-SingerA-DancehallSexyGirlsxxxxCarlingtonWilmot-YardFlex.jpg
She spoke to us about her decidedly Jamaican 'out of many, one people' origin.

"My father is a mix-up black man from St. Elizabeth who looks like Haile Selassie" while my mother is a mix-up Jamaican black woman. My great-grandfather was Jewish, and probably that's why I don't eat pork, just bacon," she said, smiling.

However, it is her drive and ambition which defines her. After all, how many persons do you know who would quit a high-paying job after securing a coveted promotion merely because this turn of good luck would take them away from their one true love?

Alaine did.

After graduating from the University of the West Indies, Alaine moved to New York in 1999 where she juggled working in an Investment Bank (JPMorgan) while pursuing her songwriting career. Her efforts resulted in her songs being recorded by artists signed to major record labels such as Bad Boy and Jay records. She also worked with artistes from the Philippines such as Rachel Alejandro as well as Lynden David Hall of England. Alaine has also sung hooks for Roc-A-Fella Recording artist Cam'Ron in the songs 'Live My Life' from the album 'Come Home With Me’(Roc-A-Fella 2002), and Yeo from 'Music Inspired by Scarface' (Def Jam, 2003).

"It was rough, I would work from 7:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m., and then I was in the studio from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., I got no sleep for almost one-and-a-half years. And then I got promoted again, and I realized I would have to start traveling to represent the bank, and I would have no time for music. So I quit my job with its security and retirement plan and moved back home," she said.

BREATH OF FRESH AIR

Since returning to Jamaica in July of 2004 Alaine has worked with some of the island's top producers including the internationally acclaimed Sly Dunbar, Donovan Don Corleon' Bennett, Arif Coper, Leftside and Esco, Daseca, and Mikey Bennett.

In an industry gone rancid from stale samples and stagnant beats, many critics regard her as a breath of fresh air who pushes the genre's soulful horizon with her candy cane harmonies, and pastel piano textures.

"At Sumfest 2006, I was able to show that I am a musician as I played the keyboard, and people were very receptive to that. I had rearranged 'No Ordinary Love', got three background singers, and created a R & B vibe with a piano intro. The beginning was slow and moody, the second verse was a one-drop and then I slowed it up and brought it back down. The crowd loved it," she gushed.

Alaine is an accomplished musician in her own right, having studied classical piano for four years. As a child, she secured roles in numerous Jamaican television programmes and commercials, radio jingles, and theatrical productions. Industry insiders remember her as the one who sang the jingle for the super-popular Victoria Mutual Building Society television commercial in the early 1990s.

This overachiever had by the age nine, been a Red Cross Ambassador, performed in several cabaret shows and national events, hosted a popular children's television show, and landed herself a role in the movie Clara's Heart starring Whoopi Goldberg.

But despite her accomplishments, she is no primadonna.

"I am a work in progress, I just feel that Jamaican and Caribbean people are talented yet they are under-appreciated, and a lot don't get the opportunity to do what they want to do. I want to eventually help other people with similar ambitions to fulfil their ambitions and work hard at what they want to achieve," she said.

Alaine manages herself, but her booking is handled by Headline Entertainment.

She is now collating the singles for her debut album.

"I have a lot of singles, several of them are unreleased, and there are a lot of sides to me, reggae, R & B, neo-soul influences, but at the same time, I am not going to be all over the place with my material," she said.

She writes and arranges all her vocals, which sparkle with her R&B/hip hop influences, and the buzz on her on the street and in the industry is incredible

"It's good that people are talking, that means I'm relevant. At the same time, I appreciate the positive vibes, and happy to be recognized. People embrace me on the road, and I am just havin' a great time," she said.

"I feel God is directing my life, I step out in faith a lot, and if you do that, and trust in Him, you can't go wrong. It is now the time for singers, both male and female, and the risk seems to be paying off and that my career will continue to grow."

Ragga Hop Queen Ms. Triniti - "Eminem is real, I am real"

By: Claude Mills

MsTriniti-DancehallReggae-Beenieman-SexyGirls.jpgTo the casual observer, Ms. Triniti may seem like just another pretty face. But this young woman has got soul, wit and class, and through her unique hybrid sound, she is introducing a whole new generation to Caribbean music.

Ms. Triniti who was born to a Trinidadian father, and an American mother, was raised between the UK and the Caribbean and now resides in Los Angeles, California. A seasoned performer, she has recorded with almost every major producer in her genre. She has put the disappointment of having been signed to and released from Sony/Columbia behind her, and continued to plough along to be a frontrunner a new genre of music - 'ragga-hop', which she defines as an outsize melding of West Indian soca, dancehall, US hip hop and R & B. It is a sound that can be expected to bedazzle and befuddle the uninitiated for here is a girl who looks Caucasian but sounds Caribbean black.

"When I do dancehall, they do a little double-take, they don't get it, but the bottomline is that if you believe in your heart in what you're doing, there is no need to convince yourself, Eminem is real, I am real, I don't feel like I am putting up a front, this is me," she told YardFlex.com.

Triniti is not afraid to show her sensitive side, a no-no sometimes in the rough-and-tumble world of dancehall. On her album, you will find her hybrid of cute, sexy dancehall with pop-like chorus hooks almost disarming. Songs like "Uptown Top Rankin" featuring E-Dee and the nostalgic 'Virtual Reality' shows that she's got good pipes, and great versatility. And she never stops working to finetune her sound.

"I have recorded four songs in 10 days in Jamaica, and it has been a good experience so far," she said during a poolside interview at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, Jamaica.

During the interview, she would lapse into her pseudo-Jamaican accent. She laughed when we pointed it out to her.

"Sometimes, people ask me why you speaking Jamaican? I use the slang, I speak a little bit of patois, but I do use a bit of Trini slang because I have to rep where I'm from," she said.

Environmentally conscious, she divers a VW which is all at once "energy-efficient, safe because it's got that steel cage, and humble".

Triniti has been steadily gaining recognition for her work. She was 'Itunes Artist of the Week' worldwide during November 2004's downloads. One of her videos, 'Bounce Along' is enjoying favourable rotation on HYPE, while another, 'For the Love of Dancehall' is being broadcast on BET Jazz and MTV Tempo.

She has toured with Ja Rule and Sean Paul, opened for D12, Elephant Man, and Kevin Lyttle. She was recently sought out by Mario Winans after he came across her independently pressed CD.

"Being on the Sean Paul tour was an important thing for my career because I got to play in big stadiums in Japan, and introduce my music to a new crowd who didn't know me. At some of the venues, the crowd knew my music, and they sang along...the energy of the crowd is like a drug, that energy when you connect with the people, it's amazing," she said,

Ms. Trinity has been working on a number of collaborations with Jamaican dancehall artistes. Earlier this year, her song, 'Bling Bling Eyes' with Beenie Man was slated to be on the deejay's recently released 'Undisputed' album.

"However, there was some politics with the producer so it never did. Anyway, I am doing something with Sean, who is now working on his fourth album, so I am looking forward to that experience," she said.

Lust, Betrayal and Friendship - "yuh can tek the AIDS weh him gi me too!”

Just Ask Ms Jackson

MsJacksonsexygirlsnude, xxxbeeniemanseanpaulrihannadancehallphotobabycham.jpgWhat's the deal Dear Reader! This one hot off the presses and it ain't no joke neither! Mi fren Shemi call me and gimme dis one (big up to Shemi and the artist for reminding us all that "Love is a beautiful thing!")

So, you all know how college life is...nuff booze, nuff new friends, nuff schoolwork to do. Well, may I present to you our three characters in this story of lust, betrayal and friendship which I have chosen to call...

"Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get IT"

Tekia and Lavely were two young ladies who met on campus while they were both attending UWI, it just so happened that the two friends fancied the same fella, a bright young Arts student named Orin. Orin was quite taken in by Lavely with her dark hair, chocolate complexion and banging body, not to mention the fact that she was hard-working and placed most of her focus on keeping up her grades. So he started dating her and yuh done know how the Yard man dem do it, likkle ice-cream here, likkle movies and Chiney food there. Not too long after Lavely and Orin became a full blown couple.

Now even though Lavely was one of her good sistren, Tekia was not so happy about this situation, no, no this red-eye biatch knew that Orin's true place was between HER thighs, making sweet love to HER, so she decided she wouldn't stop till she got him to that very place. What aided her plan even more was that Lavely wasn't giving Orin the attention he deserved, instead Lavely go-getter that she was, was most consumed with her studies, because she figured that she and Orin were working towards the same goal...you know, graduating top of the class so that they both could get really good jobs that would secure them for their future. But oh lawd here it comes! You know fellas always be intimidated by a woman who has her act together and you know that usually opens the door for needy, trifling women to prey on these men and say stuff like "oh she doesn't have time for you well can I come keep you company". Next ting, Tekia never knew Lavely had it so good, Orin (aw poor lonely baby) gave Tekia some of the most intense orgasms she ever had. Well need I say more? Him lef lovely Lavely for her friend and the two of them all end up marrying each other.

Well I don't think I have to tell you Dear Reader just how distraught Lavely was, betrayed by her friend and her man, she never forgave them for what they did, especially Tekia because that was supposed to have been her girl (or so she thought). Needless to say this whole experience made our Lavely quite a bitter person, yup anytime she would run into Tekia she would gwaan bad, she'd say things like “I wonder who for man she trying to take way now" or "Is that you man-thief? I don't know how you live with yourself". She would say this even when she'd see Tekia with the kids she and Orin had together. It really made for an embarrassing situation more so for Lavely cause all the while Tekia would take the insults in stride, for after all she did have the man, the house and the kids. So if homegirl wanted to act the fool six years after the fact then that was her problem. You snooze you loose kid that's the name of the game!

Fast-forward two years later when big UWI reunion party a keep and the two rivals meet again. By this time Lavely is an investment banker with lots of success and friends but she felt she was missing one thing, the thing that now that her career was in place she yearned for most. Come on, ya'll know what I'm about to say...yup! She wanted her a man and some kids. So, she and Tekia buck and after all these years she can't hold it any longer. The following conversation ensued:

Lavely: "Are you happy that you livin up in yuh big house with your beautiful husband and yuh beautiful pickney dem? I hope you are because all of that was supposed to be mine. Yuh tek weh mi man and yuh tek weh the life that was supposed to be ours. You make me sick"

Now this went on for a while. In front of people and all and yuh done know seh yard people fass so everybody ah wait fi see what Tekia goin say. Then they notice seh Tekia getting a bit nervy till she couldn't tek the talking no more and blurt out:

"If you want him tek back him raas and while you at it yuh can tek the AIDS weh him gi me too!"

Wow....that's gangsta!

This is a true story.

Moral of the story: Lef the people dem man alone! And ladies sometimes you just have to trust in the Almighty, everything happens for a reason. Lavely was killing up herself not realizing that God had allowed her to avoid a life threatening disease. The story also shows just how much we women stick together in tough times, cause same Lavely end up a turn back fren with Tekia to help her through her AIDS crisis and they remain friends till this day. And as for "Whorin Orin" he's just another example of the lame ass negroes we have running around today who want to call themselves men. Men don't give their mates STD's because real men don't cheat and if they do cheat, they ALWAYS think about protecting their partner at home.....LOSERS ya'll aint sh*t and deep down inside you know it. That's why you need a dozen desperate bitches to stroke your egos to help you forget that at the end of the day you aint no king, you just a dumb black mothaf#@$a.

Shout out to Beyonce for giving us the new lady's anthem: "Irreplaceable"!

MS J's FACTS ON HIV/AIDS

* At the end of 2003, an estimated 1,039,000 to 1,185,000 persons in the United States were living with HIV/AIDS, with 24-27% undiagnosed and unaware of their HIV infection.

TAKEN FROM: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillance/basic.htm

* The AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 27,000 lives in the Caribbean in 2005, making it the leading cause of death among adults aged 15-44 years. A total of 330,000 people are currently living with HIV in the region, including 27,000 who became infected in 2005. TAKEN FROM: http://www.avert.org/aidslatinamerica.htm
* The AIDS rate among Black women is three times as high as that among Latino women and 18 times as high as that among White women. Today Black women make up more than half of all women who have died of AIDS.

QUESTION:

Dear Ms J

I am with my boyfriend for over eight months now, and every time we have a fuss he tells me he wants back all he has given to me and complains that I haven't done anything for him. He has done this on numerous occasions, and he later apologizes and says he is sorry and didn't mean it. I am getting tired of all this and have decided to leave him, is this the right thing to do?

From NC

MS J SAYS:

Very sorry for just getting back to you girl, it seems your email was misplaced in my spam. I hope all is blessed with you and your family. Anyway getting down to the matter at hand, simply put "YUH NUH FI DEH WID NO MAN THAT WHEN HIM HEAD TEK HIM, WANT BACK TINGS WEH HIM GI YUH!" He is out of order to say that and you must make him aware of this. It may be because he is immature and acting out or maybe him just selfish, only you know the answer to this, either way this type of behavior should not be tolerated. Furthermore, I believe men give us such a hard time in the first place that they need to buy us stuff, so at least we have something to show for all the bullsh*t!

I cannot tell you whether to leave this man or not, you have to weigh the pros and cons of your relationship. All I'm saying is know your worth and know what you're willing to put up with and for heavens sake if you decide to leave him, make sure don’t be fool-fool like my friend who lef the man and gave him back the jewelry he bought her! And always remember "Independence" is key and once you put your mind to it, you can get the things he buys you all on your own. Sky is the limit baby-girl, trust and believe in the Almighty cause yuh done know "who Jah bless no man curse" - Robert Nesta Marley. Jah Rastafari!

Write to me and let me know what's up at justaskmsj@gmail.com. Until next month...positive vibrations!

Wyclef Jean joined forces with 'Sno Cone'

WyclefJean-hiphop-dancehall.jpgInternational recording star Wyclef Jean has joined forces with Billboard-topping producer Rohan 'Sno Cone' Fuller for a new reggae song, 'Emmanuel' on Sno Cone's 'Peace and Love' one-drop rhythm.

"Wyclef was here and he went to look for Mavado and Foota Hype, and while he was there, a friend of mine told him that he knew me, and Clef said 'get him on the phone'. We talked and I went up there to hold a vibe. Afterwards, him come and then he voiced and sent me the vocals to put on 'Peace and Love'. I worked closely with him to get it right, and as always, it was a great experience working with Clef," Sno Cone told YardFlex.com.

The two had had collaborations before on Sno Cone's dancehall rhythms, 'Gallop' and then later on the 'Rice and Peas' (Gangsta Cause, the sequel to Spragga's 'Warrior Cause'). Clef earned his first number one single to date with his collaboration with Shakira on "Hips Don't Lie", a Latin-pop mega hit that covered Wyclef's 2004 song "Dance Like This", which was not released as a single. Shakira assisted in writing and producing of the 2006 remake. The song was released as the second single from Shakira's second English album, Oral Fixation Vol. 2 this year. The single became a global success, topping the charts in many countries, and was also Shakira's first (and to date, only) number-one single in the US.

Peter Tosh's M16 guitar saved - not to be auctioned on Ebay

petertosh-m16guitar-reggaemusic-auction.jpgKingston, Jamaica: - FLASHPOINT FILM FESTIVAL will not be proceeding with the auction of Peter Tosh's acclaimed Stratocaster M16 guitar as previously announced. A legal claim disputing the current ownership has been communicated to Flashpoint, and in the interests of all concerned, it is impractical to proceed with the auction.

While Flashpoint believes the timing of this dispute is unfortunate, Flashpoint has never asserted ownership of the guitar and is therefore not involved in the dispute.

Flashpoint Film Festival was to facilitate the auction of Peter Tosh's M16 Guitar on behalf of Andrea (Marlene) Brown, the late Tosh's common-law wife. Part proceeds of the auction were to go to The Cedar Valley Home and the rest would fund a new charity being set up by Marlene Brown. This new charity, "Lilly of the Valley" would help underprivileged children and the elderly in Jamaica. The auction was due to be on eBay November 26 - December 3, 2006.

"It is Flashpoint's opinion that the Steppin Razor guitar should stay in Jamaica and be available to the viewing public. We hope that the family can resolve this issue amicably and that Flashpoint will still be able to showcase the guitar at the Festival Dec 1-3." Paul Bucknor of Flashpoint stated.

The 2006 staging of the annual Flashpoint Film Festival is set for Friday, December 1 - Sunday, December 3 at The Caves, Negril. Firefly Films, The Caves, Island Outpost, JAMPRO, Phase 3, DB&G, Rockers Its Dangerous, 120DBF FILMS, Women's Film Network, Palm Pictures, Final Draft, Digital Edge, On Que Productions, JTB, CVM TV and HYPE TV sponsor the festival.

Brilliant Luciano shines at Reggae Culture Salute 2006

Luciano-CultureArtiste-ReggaemusicYardFlex.jpgLuciano, Dean Fraser and the Jah Messenjah Band recently performed at 'Reggae Culture Salute 2006' show in New York, USA, which commemorated the 76th anniversary of the coronation of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie.

The show was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, and attracted a huge audience of fortysomethings who came out on a chilly night in the Big Apple to hear quality reggae music. One man, who appeared to be in his early sixties, skanked the whole night to the intoxicating drumbeats, and the driving bass lines of roots rock music, jerking his body each time in deference to the music as the percussion hit him like a sledgehammer slamming on his brain.
At one point, he shouted out: "Ah strictly rockers we want!"
This statement was greeted with much laughter and cheers of approval from other members of the audience.

When Luciano hit the stage, the mood inside the venue changed to one of almost reverent expectancy for here was the Messenjah coming to deliver words of truth and righteousness, and he did not disappoint. 'Looshy' thrilled the audience with a tight creative set chock full of hits such as 'Who Could It Be?', 'Ulterior Motive', and the poignant 'This One is For the Leaders' which seemed particularly fitting given the proximity of the recent US election races over control of the House and Senate. He took time out to accept a gift from the outstretched arms of a lady before berating entertainers who used swear words and degraded women in their songs. Then he launched into the cathartic 'Sweep Ova My Soul' and a forest of hands went up, some donning lighters as Dean Fraser's beautiful sax piped out through the speakers.

Later, one could understand the pull of the Messenjah as a beam of light from the upper deck illuminated his face as he sang Gethsemane. As the fierce lights struck his face, he looked like an Old Testament prophet coming from on high to inform people of God's inside information and His love for the human race. After this soul-searing song, Luciano performed the ganja-ode 'Legalize It', 'All in This Together', the anthemic 'Lord Give Me Strength' and closed with 'It's Me Again Jah'.

Sidney Mills and David Hinds of Steel Pulse also performed at the event. Kenyatta Hill, who replaced his late father as the lead singe of Culture, also gave an inspired performance that rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom into a roots rock hurricane of good feeling and irie vibes.

Ziggy Marley Thrills crowd on ‘Love is My Religion’ tour

Ziggy-Marley-Reggaemusic-Jamaica.jpgYardFlex was in the House of Revolutions last night in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where Ziggy Marley was on a leg of his 'Love is My Religion' tour. Ziggy and his band have been on the road since June '06, and the grueling tour ends next year August 2007.

According to Ziggy, it's a hectic schedule and a lot of work However, he is amped about the experience nevertheless,

"I don't mind the work, I love to work, it makes it more meaningful," he told YardFlex.com.

Last night, he worked a tight creative set which was two-and-a-half hours long. Surprisingly, the band and the background vocalists danced the whole set, their bodies sheathed in sweat. He gave the audience the old, the new, personal favourites and of course, some of his dad's music. His mom, looking evergreen, while surrounded by her grandchildren, also danced the whole two-and-half hours showing she is no slouch either.

The Marley family came out in numbers that night as YardFlex.com spotted Damian, Julian, Sharon and the grandchildren attended the concert. But don't get it twisted, the family was not just there to attend as dignitaries, they enjoyed the show, screaming dancing as the eldest Marley son rocked the house. The sentiment was felt among the crowd, there was not a stationary body in the house.
The high point of the night's festivities was the climax of the show when Ziggy performed the title track of his new CD, Love is My Religion' as a drizzle fell from the black sky.

As soon as he started to spit the profoundly conscious lyrics, the heavens appeared to open, and it appeared that God, in all His mysticism, sent rain and His blessings on this most momentous occasion. It was the most magical sight to see Marley's head tilted back to receive the pleasing showers as he belted out 'love is my religion!'. Just looking at the faces of the audience around the reporter, it was clear that they could almost feel the presence of the Most High.

After the exhilarating performance, Mr. Marley gave an in-depth interview on his new album, the tour and his coming of age. It is evident that he now understands his mission. This one-on-one interview will appear in the next issue of YardFlex Magazine.

Street meets sweet - Cherine's got good love

By: Claude Mills
Editor

Look who's all grown up now.

CherineAnderson-reggaeSinger-Jamaica-sexgirls.jpgLittle Cherine Anderson who most Jamaicans know as the precocious girl from the 'Dancehall Queen' movie from the early 90s is now a bonafide hottie with a smile that can melt the heart of any man. And, oh, she's a helluva singer as well.

You might have already heard her one-drop hit single, 'Good Love' which has been bombing local FM radio into submission like an Israeli air strike on civilian targets in Lebanon. The single, which is sunshiny with soul, got 'good love' from reggae and urban radio stations in Jamaica, the US, Canada, several European countries, as well as internet radio, translating into a lot of buzz about Cherine.

Cherine's main prerogative now is to define the boundaries on this yet-unexplored territory dubbed dancehall soul. But just what the heck is dancehall soul?

"It is a hybrid of reggae, harder dancehall, soul and R&B, where I can incorporating the grittiness of my past with the sweetness of the things I've been exposed to...the world is opening up to the possibilities of this hybrid sound, look at how Rihanna made it to the top of the charts," she told YardFlex.com.

She grew up listening to artistes such as Lauryn Hill, Chevelle Franklyn and of course Lady Saw. "I know what moves me. Chevelle taught me a lot in terms of getting my stuff tight, and making it you. I believe I have grown, when I listen to Tanya's 'Rebelution' which is great, I realize that sometimes you have to live and experience things in order to write about it and bring it across in your music," she told YardFlex.com.

She described her choice to get her degree as the "best decision she has ever made". She graduated with honors from the prestigious Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Music and a minor in Japanese Language and Literature. She also did successful internships at MTV Networks, Interscope and the Chris Blackwell owned Palm Pictures and Palm Records.

Then she devoted her full time to recording music. Although she stands at a mere five feet, three inches tall, don't underestimate this young girl. Her singular ability to marry hardcore topics with radio-friendly cuts such as dancehall-soca-flavoured 'Oochie Wally' shows that she will be on the forefront of the new female movement in reggae.

"You need more than just a pretty face to make it in this business, you have to wicked vocally and tough lyrically. I am not going to be any fly-by-night artiste, I plan to be around for a long time in this business," she said.

Her manager is Patrick Lindsay.

THE COLOUR ISSUE

Certain elements in the media landscape have been touting a new crop of girls such as Alaine, Tami Chynn, Jovi as the next big thing to come out of Jamaica. Concerned interests within the industry feel that there is a deliberate strategy to sideline dark-skinned women who don't have certain Caucasian features which might appeal to the US marketplace.

"I would be foolish to say that it (colour) did not play a part in the promotion and packaging of an artiste, but I cannot attribute the success of our music acts to what they look like. Just look at Shabba, he was a phenomenon in the urban market, when you turn on your TV and watch Saturday Night Live and they are making Shabba jokes, that is great because they only do that when you matter," she said.

Cherine has been working with industry giants such as David Norland (Madonna, Janet Jackson, Dallas Austin), JeekyMan (Lil Kim), as well as prominent Jamaican producers such as Steven "Lenky" Marsden (Sean Paul), Christopher Birch (Shaggy)., and she has forged a creative partnership with reggae legend Sly Dunbar who believes that Cherine "is the real deal".

"She is a truly strong vocalist on hard core reggae riddims with the ability and potential to surpass Jamaican audiences to reach the masses," he said.

Cherine is moving ahead with her career at warp speed, learning at each step of the way.

"A lot of good stuff happened this year, I was on Reggae Sumfest opening for Sly and Robbie, I did Reggae on the River, Sting Miami, and got a good review from the Miami Herald, it's been real good," she said..

She has completed between 12 and 16 tracks for her debut album.

"It is not just dancehall, there is a one-drop on it, I deal with real issue, socio-political commentaries. On one of my favourite songs, 'How We Living'. I give my take on Nannyville, striking a contrast between the community then and now. The album will have a Caribbean flavour," she said..

She has been working with producers like Lenky Marsden on a cut called 'Jealous', and she has done collaborations with Anthony B ('So Sexy'), and with Chuck Fender on 'Coming Over Tonight'. A video for the latter was shot by Kimala Bennett recently.

Cherine is an out-and-out triple threat: singer, songwriter and acclaimed Jamaican actress, having starred in two of Jamaica's most successful films, Dancehall Queen (1997) and One Love ((2003).

"I've got scripts but none of them are stretching me from 'One Love', so right now, it is just the music. I am committed to making good music. It may not be hot and hip, but it will stand the test of time, that's my benchmark for Cherine, everything else is an accessory," she said,

"We're working right now, not getting caught up in the debate about who is blowing up. I just want to make music that will stand the test of time," she said.

We hear you, girl. We hear you.

PAST ACHIEVEMENTS AND HISTORY

Born in Rockfort in East Kingston, Jamaica, her parents Derryck & Barbara Anderson kept Cherine and her two older sisters in Sunday school and any other church activity that would keep them off the unstable streets. It was in church that her musical talent was discovered. Cherine explains, "It wasn't so much the message in the church songs that appealed to me at first...it was the passion and strength of peoples' voices." At the age of 12, she became a touring member of Ashe Performing Arts Ensemble, one of the Caribbean's most successful performance companies, and received professional training in dance, music and theatre. In 2003, Cherine combined her two loves, singing and acting, starring in the film One Love. Her voice lent two heartfelt songs to the film's soundtrack, and her acting talent earned her the MTV2/Urbanworld Film Festival Award for best actress in a feature film.

Some Cherine Facts

* Cherine co-starred in the film Dancehall Queen playing the sexually molested teen daughter Tanya in 1997

ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 - Poor ticket sale

By Melton Williams

CricketBoard-Jamaica-WorldCupCricket.jpgDelroy Taylor, the project officer for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2007 is not happy with the purchasing of tickets by Caribbean cricket fans.

The second phase of public ticketing will close on Thursday, November 30 and with three months to go before the Opening Ceremony on March 11, 2007 --- ticket sales have been described by Mr Taylor as 'moderate'. Mr Taylor added that the poor ticket sale is as a result of misunderstanding regarding the price for tickets.
He said: "What we have found out is that the tickets for matches that
involved West Indies are going a lot better.

"We have learnt that Jamaica and Caribbean persons on a whole have not come to the party in the number that we have anticipated. I guess that is due to a couple of things, one of them is that there is a massive degree of misconception, misunderstanding regarding to ticket prices. People are saying that the tickets are priced at US$300.
Checks revealed that ticket price ranges from a high of US$120 to a low of US$15.

To witness the Opening Ceremony, which will be held at the Greenfield
Stadium in Trelawny (north-western Jamaica), cricket fans will have to fork out US$120 for a category one seat. A category two seat will cost US$80, while US$50 will be charged for a category three seat.
Ticket sale will be closed between December 1 and January 2007, during this time specific seats will be assigned to all purchasers.
The third phase is where persons can buy tickets even on match days, but this is only if tickets are available. Ticket offices will be set-up in and outside of the stadiums. Each person can apply for a maximum of four tickets per match, and two persons from one household can apply. Mr Taylor is urging cricket fans to support the Opening Ceremony against the background that it will be a world-class experience.

He said, "the opening ceremony for all major events is really the spectacle, the starting point and something that everyone look forward to and they should look forward to this one.
"This is the largest event that has ever to come to the Caribbean shores and this in itself is an experience. Person in Jamaica, person across the Caribbean must realise that everyone has a part to play in this event and maybe your part is as a supporter or maybe your part is just giving correct information to persons and encouraging people to be a part of it."

The ICC Cricket World Cup will be played in eight territories in the region, each receiving different packages. Jamaica was granted the Yellow Package and will host the Opening Ceremony, one semi-final game and six first round matches. The seven games in Jamaica will be played at Sabina Park. Barbados (venue for the final), Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis and Grenada are the other host countries for cricket's most prestigious tournament.

Carlington Wilmot Photo

Vegas_awards_Dancehall_Reggae_Beenie_man_Sean_Paul_Rihanna-hotwuk.jpg

It's catchy, it grabbing and before you know it you are chanting along to 'Lean Wit It' like you heard it a long time ago. This song gives you the perfect vibes to get on the dance floor..."Yuh just lean wit it, rock wit it, hot funk wid it..."

Produced by sly & Robbie for Taxi label on the Darker Shade rhythm it is really creating a vibes right now in the dances. The minute the selector draws for this one from Vegas, the place goes wild! Lighters flaring shouts of 'pull up' and fans goes crazy on the dance floor.

Vegas is really coming hard, especially as the Hot Wuck is still a rave in the dancehall. The video for this song, which was directed by J. Wilks is still one of the hottest thing on cable and local TV.

What next is Vegas coming with? You can be sure it will be something to vibes up the dancehall.

Steve Weltman - Greensleeves' plans for Dancehall-Reggae music

steve-nasio-Greensleeves-Dancehall-reggae.jpgSteve Weltman, CEO of ZEST Group Plc, spoke to YardFlex.com in an exclusive interview about what Greensleeves' plans are for dancehall-reggae music. This is part one of that interview he did with Claude Mills.

What are your plans for dancehall reggae in the upcoming calendar year given all the complaints that artistes such as Macka Diamond and Vybz Kartel have against Greensleeves?

I am 40 year veteran of music in all forms, our company bought Greensleeves, and we're working on it daily to reorganize the company. When things aren't going right for artistes, it is always the record company's fault, and never the artiste's fault. How would it be if record company began to speak to the media about things that are wrong with artistes. In any debate, regardless of the subject matter, there is always two sides to the story, you cannot make judgment until you know what both parties think.

In Fantan's case, he has a legal agreement with Downsound and we understand from both sides that there is a breakdown in their relationship, until that is solved, we cannot do anything. Our agreement is with Downsound for Fantan. If he is not giving product to Downsound, then it is a problem for Downsound and one for Greensleeves. We believe in Fantan, but we cannot deal with him direct, and that is not me copping out, this is just how the business is.

Gussie's comments are absolutely correct, with regards to Vybz saying he is changing his name. How sad is that! How pathetic is that! If he does try to do a record with another co, he can't because he is signed with us exclusively, I had a positive meeting in May with Vybz, I talked to him about realizing his potential, two records he made recently were OK, but not globally going to excite the world. He is capable of making that record, he needs a complete 360 circle of creative input and if Vybz wants to put a record out with someone, we have to take legal steps. I like him, don’t want it to come to that, his potential is fantastic. We have offered him a new deal, to extend our contract with him. I see a big potential if he wants to focus on making great records, promoting them and take a break, start over again. But is a problem dancehall acts have.

Met with Macka, coming up with ideas for Macka at the moment, she is an absolute delight, she works very hard, she is in a male-dominated genre of music, does not mean there is no room for girls, I'd like to see more girls coming through, it's a male-dominated business,

How can Greensleeves resolve the contractual problems with Fantan?

We're trying to resolve the issue between Downsound and Fantan, but they come to an understanding, and he moves on, then we can help. We have a good reputation, and we're not about to change that?

What about Macka Diamond, her manager has said that a certain A & R passed on 'Bun Him' the first time it was presented to him?

In terms of our future, we're going to make announcements about our polices, secondly, in terms of what you sign and what you don't sign, you can't sign everything. If you passed on it, regretted and tried to recapture, that's understandable, that's the nature of music. Every single record label turned the Beatles down, apart from EMI. Richard Branson's friend, Oldfield Tubular Bells, went to see every major co. in the UK, and at that time, it was 14 major corporations, and eh also saw 10 of 15 indies including Island, and everybody turned the record down, so Richard Branson started his own, Virgin. That's just music.

What is your take on Vybz Kartel?

He's got to sacrifice, stop voicing for dollars, sit and write, the potential in his songwriting is fantastic, he has great dexterity with words, but he's got to make it ambiguous, if you wrote a song about a chair, say 'I supported you all my life' instead of four legs and seat. If you write a song about Glocks, it gets played at three, if you make a video with guns, not going to get shown around the clock, but if you write about the same subject matter without being direct, it takes thought, if you have the right team, anything is possible.

JAMPRO announces partnership with CricketWorld.com

westindies-cricket.jpgJamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), through one of its Cricket Legacy initiatives - Caribbean Business Club - announces a new partnership with CricketWorld.com, the No. 1 independent cricket website in the world. The agreement affords CricketWorld.com the designated status of Preferred Sports Media (website and magazine) for Caribbean Business Club and covers joint marketing efforts that are expected to increase Club presence in international markets, specifically so in the cricket loving nations of the UK, India, Australia and South Africa.

This aligns perfectly with JAMPRO's goal to increasingly diversify the mix of trade and investment markets for Jamaica as these countries all boast strongly performing economies, and it also dovetails nicely with Caribbean Business Club's main objective to effectively network Caribbean business with international trade and investment contacts.

Cricket World CEO, Steve Whatley, is delighted to be working with the Caribbean Business Club and says "It is an exciting time for cricket in the Caribbean as over the next 6 months, 180 cricket playing countries will be focused on the Caribbean in the run-up to, and during, the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007. He thinks it "is a great opportunity for businesses, and the region, to promote themselves globally during this period, for inward investment, services and tourism." As part of the Joint Marketing Agreement, Cricket World® will be assisting the Caribbean Business Club with their 'Business Matching' service and inward investment programme" Steve Whatley added, "as well as promoting the Caribbean as a whole."

JAMPRO Acting President, Sancia Bennett-Templer, is also enthusiastic about the partnership. She believes that "the expansive reach of Cricket World® will prove to be a powerful marketing vehicle for introducing Caribbean Business Club to new and emerging markets" and expects "positive, mutually beneficial outcomes for both parties." Caribbean Business Club, Operations Manager, Matthew Lyn, sees the partnership as "the perfect entree to a captive audience via a credible source." It is the Club's view that there are no boundaries to where you talk business and so it is expected that many influential businessmen and women who are also avid cricketers will mix business with pleasure during CWC 2007.

In keeping with its general mandate to promote and facilitate investment and export development in targeted areas, JAMPRO developed a Legacy Strategy in 2005 that seeks to accelerate trade and investment outcomes likely to arise from the hosting of mega sports events such as the ICC CWC 2007. Similar strategies employed in Syndey, Australia and Atlanta, Georgia proved to effect positive change on business development, trade and investment.

Caribbean Business Club was launched in April 2006, as one initiative of JAMPRO’s Legacy Strategy designed to accelerate trade and investment outcomes. Members gain access to business matching services, networking opportunities and clubhouse facilities. Other JAMPRO initiatives include the Caribbean Business Opportunity Service, the Jamaica Investment Attractions Programme, the Creative Industries Project and the Major Events Attractions Porgramme.

Cricket World® magazine was founded and first published in 1987 and has grown to become a major recognised title in the UK, achieving a circulation of over 150,000 copies per annum throughout the 1990's. Since that time it has developed its editorial coverage to encompass cricket from International Test and One Day International's to club and youth cricket, and special features on Health, Lifestyle and Travel.

In 1996, Cricket World® launched www.cricketworld.com as its online website and it has since become a global brand, with up to 3 million users per month on the Cricket World® Group of websites. Spring 2002 saw the re-launch of Cricket World® magazine as a glossy quarterly publication and also the online launch of www.cricdirect.com as an online product directory, search engine and business to consumer service.

Peter Tosh's family - "We are Not Gonna Give It Up! - M16 Guitar

petertosh-m16guitar-reggaemusic.jpgMy name is Jawara McIntosh. I am the youngest son of Peter Tosh. It has been almost 20 years since the murder of my father, Winston Hubert McIntosh, better known as the legendary reggae artist and revolutionary Peter Tosh. And it seems even in death he cannot receive justice.

A few days ago it was brought to the attention of the Tosh family, that our father's one of a kind M-16 Stratocaster guitar, which was once thought to be lost, had resurfaced and had been scheduled to be auctioned off by the flashpoint film festival on EBAY. I have decided to release this statement on the behalf of the Tosh family to let the general public know that we are wholeheartedly against this illegal auction scheduled to take place during the Flashpoint Film Festival. This guitar was given to our father by a fan in Los Angeles in 1983 during the Mama Africa World Tour. My brother, Horace Dave McIntosh, has been in contact with Flashpoint Film Festival and Marlene Brown, and is hoping to come to an agreement.

We would like the people of Jamaica and across the globe, who are interested in this auction, to know that they are bidding on stolen property. After Peter was brutally murdered in home many of his personal belongings came up missing, this guitar is one of those items. The Tosh family is doing everything in their power to see that this auction does not take place and wants the world to be aware of this injustice. We are Not Gonna Give It Up!

-Jawara Gamal McIntosh

Kartel (Addi the Techa) responds to 'Baby Daddy' song with D'Angel

By: Claude Mills

VybzKartel-Addi-The-Teacha-D'angel-CarlingtonWilmot-Yardflex.jpgVybz Kartel has been in the lab working with the young genius, Stephen McGregor, on a couple of songs. One of those songs is 'Imagine', a remarkable magnus opus of a song that paints a portrait of what the world would be like were the structures of world economics, politics, and power different. The song also attempts to formulate creative solutions, from a black man's perspective, to some of the problems such as poverty, hunger and crime which the world faces today.

"Right now, I am working on some different songs, I have 12 exclusive tracks completed which will appear on my upcoming album, 'Vybz Kartel Presents Addi the Techa', it ah go mad," he told YardFlex.com.

The deejay denied that a recent collaboration he did with fellow deejay, D'Angel was an overt diss of Bounty Killer. He said that he had no intention of dissing the 'Killer'.

"Mi just build a song fi Arthur Wails and him say him have a girl fi sing pon it and dem mi find out say ah D'Angel, ah so the ting go," he explained.

When you found out it was 'D'Angel, did you have second thoughts?

"No, 'cause ah Arthur Wail that, ah mi link. Yu dun know star, we just ah do we ting, ah Portmore mi come from, and ultimately ah Killer form the Alliance so if Bounty Killer say Kartel no inna the Alliance, him just no inna the Alliance. It nuh mek me a better or a worse person, mi ah still the same Vybz Kartel, aka Addi the Techa."

Idonia's thugs threatened to cut reporter in face

Idonia-thugs-carlingtonwilmot.jpgYardFlex.com photo editor and minority shareholder Carlington Wilmot has been threatened by persons thought to be affiliated to dancehall deejay Idonia because of a story that was aired on a 30 minute YardFlex entertainment programme on HYPE TV recently. The segment was centred around upcoming deejay Deva Brat who has been involved in a public feud with Idonia.

The matter was reported to the Grants Pen Police last Friday.

"The person called to say that 'p**&hole Carlington, yu diss the deejay, and we ah cut yu inna yu face when we see you 'cause we tell yu nuffi do no Deva Brat story'. They had threatened me before we did the interview segment on Deva Brat. Dem say if me do the story, dem ah go page me, and tings ah go happen to me. I had asked Idonia what his comments were, and he said he had no comments. They said I must not even put that he had no comments," Mr. Wilmot said.

"They said that me mustn't bother do that story none at all. I take these threats very seriously, and further, these artistes need to know that such a threat is a violation of freedom of the press, which is a guarantee by a government of free public press for its citizens and their associations. I should be free to share my ideas, and to express myself in writing or any other creative way. I did nothing wrong to belittle the artiste and I will not be intimidated."

Fantan Mojah - Hail The King to be Re-Released in Jamaica

Turbulence_FatanMojah-DownSoundreggaemusicphotoseanpaulbeeniemanYardFlex.jpgFantan to re-release 'Hail the King' in Jamaica, even though plans for his second album for Greensleeves has hit a major stumbling block since his fallout with Downsound Records.

"Hail the Man did well in Europe but it was never really released on a widescale in Jamaica, so that's what I am looking to do now," he said, adding that negotiations between himself and Downsound were continuing regarding his contractual obligations to indie label, Greensleeves Records.

"Mi ah ah leave the island this week fi perform ah Suriname, and mi ah go do a couple of college shows inna the US. Songs like 'World Peace' and 'Jah Time' big pon the college market right now. I am focussing on songs of upliftment for my black people. No gunshot inna head songs from Fantan Mojah, yu nah go see that, righteousness and peace me a defend," he said.

Other Fantan songs which are reportedly doing well are the roots rock influenced 'When Am I Going to See You Again' and 'Heart Cries Out'. The dancehall song, 'Watch It Mek We Dun Dem' on the Breath of Fire rhythm was also a radio favourite. When it was released last December, the 'Hail the King' album sold well and even occupied the #1 position on the local album charts for a few weeks.

StrictlyTheBest35and36-Dancehall.jpg

Another Full Installment of the Most Progressive Hits in Dancehall, Roots and Lover's Rock

"The hard-hitting Strictly the Best series is overflowing with top flight performances and talent." - J. McCallister, New York Daily News

Whether it's currently on the top the Jamaican charts, a huge underground seller on the streets or the massive club jam sweeping the dancehalls, Strictly The Best series provides the hottest catalog of dancehall/reggae music for the Winter and Spring Season. The award winning compilation has become a highly anticipated release whose popularity has increased leaps and bounds year after year. Following up after the Reggae Gold release, STB offers a more comprehensive collection of dancehall and roots sounds that have crossover potential and cater to the hard-core reggae fans alike.

Established in 1990, STB is the longest running reggae compilation series in the business. The annual series is divided into a 2 separately sold discs, providing cutting-edge dancehall hits on Volume 35 and the latest tunes in Roots and Lovers Rock on Volume 36. Each year, VP experts carefully strategize and compile a library of most exclusive dancehall/reggae tunes to keep the pace with the biggest Jamaican hits. Showcasing the most buzz-worthy and talented artists, STB series has been the proving ground for many of reggae's biggest stars, including Sean Paul, Richie Spice, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Capleton and many others. If you want to know what the next big reggae hit is in the streets or on the airwaves listen to Strictly The Best!

Highlights on Strictly the Best 35
Coming tough on and off the dance floor, everybody will "Bounce" on T.O.K.'s high energy tune on the Inspector Riddim. "The world's greatest Dancehall-reggae band," according to the New York Times, is back with their new single off their anticipated album due in early 2007.

Reminiscent to his earlier tunes that lead him to multi-platinum success, Sean Paul goes "All Out" with grittier lyrics and a slamming sound on this new tune over the Dem Time Deh Riddim. The hottest dancehall artist on the scene, Tony Matterhorn, has won over the dancehalls, streets and mainstream airwaves with two singles currently on the charts. With a creative play on words and original hard-hitting vocals over the Gully Slime Riddim, Tony Matterhorn's # 1 hit "Good As" remains at the top of the Jamaican dancehall charts.

Highlights on Strictly The Best 36
Daville's silky smooth tenor sends chills to the spine with one familiar phrase.... "Always On My Mind," after spending 6 weeks at the #1 spot on the Reggae RE Charts. Richie Spice does not hold his title without reason. His current chart-topper "Brown Skin" adds more spice and richness to the catalog of tributes made for the black woman's beauty and worth. With a sultry soulful voice that can make any woman melt, this legendary singjay provides meaningful conscious lyrics even on his love songs. No one can express "Love and Affection," better than sweet sound of Wayne Wonder. For years this superstar has been producing multiple Lover's Rock hits that have reached crossover success and plans to expand on these triumphs with his new album expected in Spring 2007.

What she smokes: Natural American Spirits. When I was in Jamaica, I used to smoke Matterhorns. Now, my poison of choice is Natural American Spririts, it's from Mexico. My doctors said that if you're going to smoke, this is what you must smoke, cause it doesn't have the additives, the rat poison and all dem tings de put in the other ones, it still might kill yu, but...until yu stop, this is what yu must smoke.

Bad habits: "Sometimes my friends have to carry food to me to mek sure because mi don't eat and that's bad. When yu don't eat, yu gain weight, 'cause yu body storing up the fat. When I have things doing, I am busy, I drink coffee, I love coffee, I don't eat...just staying up, working on my Pro Tools."

Who she's feeling: Tesanne Chin, she bad liks yars. Her vocal range, her style, similar to mine, so mi muss love it. What I admire is her big voice, her voice just big, I love that, no disrespect to other singers, I love a big voice, that's what made me want to sing when I listen to them foreign singer de...there hasn't been a lot of that in Jamaica. The night belonged to Chris Gayle

By: Melton Williams

GayleChris050125TheGayleForceGbg.jpgFor the second year running, Christopher Gayle, Jamaica's most prolific run-scorer of recent times, copped the distinguished Cricketer of the Year award in his native homeland at the Jamaica Cricket Association's (JCA's) Annual Award Ceremony held on Thursday night at the Courtleigh Auditorium.

The in-form West Indies opener was not present to collect his award as he is currently in Pakistan where West Indies and the host country are competing in a three-match Test series and five One Day Internationals.

Gayle was also absent last year, this time he was suffering from a bout of influenza. Dudley Gayle, the father of Chris, accepted the award, jointly sponsored by the JCA and Restaurant of Jamaica along with a cash prize of $100,000.

The 27-year-old Gayle was the runaway winner of the recently-concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2006 player of the tournament. The opening batsman was comfortably the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 474 runs at an average of 79.00 and a strike-rate of 92.94 runs per hundred balls. He scored three hundreds in the tournament, against Bangladesh, England and South Africa. He also took four catches and captured eight wickets with his off-spin, a mark only bettered by Jerome Taylor (13 wickets) among his team mates.

Other major awards went to Taylor, who was voted 'Young West Indies Cricketer of the Year; Dexter Augustus of Manchester Cricket Association received the Newton Jacks Trophy for Scorer of the Year; Gareth Breese (the Laurie Williams Trophy for the most disciplined Jamaica senior player); David Bernard Sr (the Derief Taylor Trophy for Coach of the Year) and photographer Headley 'Dellmar' Samuels (The President's Award).

Lorenzo Ingram of Trelawny walked away with six awards including Most Runs in the Supreme Ventures Super Cup, Top All-Rounder and the G. Roy Williams Trophy for the Most Disciplined Player.

This piece of history (M16 guitar) should be in a museum - Copeland Forbes

Source: musicthing.blogspot.com

petertosh-M16-Guitar.jpgDear all journalists and Reggae music lovers

Sorry I'm not in Jamaica now as I'm in Europe making plans for my 45th anniversary celebrations tours that I'll be staging in 2007.
Love World Tour which will play the US, Europe, Japan and 5 shows in
South Africa, the all-female tour, the Icons Of The Dancehall Tour and the Children Of The Stars Tour.

I read an article yesterday (nov-16-06,jamaica gleaner) one of Jamaica's local news papers that Peter Tosh's famous M16 guitar
will be put on auction somewhere in Canada, this I cant believe. It was I who bought that guitar from a fan who custom made it specially for Peter and brought it to the Franklyn Plaza Suite hotel in Los Angeles where Peter and his group Word Sound and Power were staying on our stop in Los Angeles when Tosh played the famous Greek Theatre during the Mama Africa World Tour 1983.

During our stay at the hotel a young reggae fan came to the hotel and
asked to see Peter Tosh, the front desk clerk then called me in my room as I was then the manager of Tosh and said that a fan wanted to see Peter, I then spoke to the fan on the house phone and he told me that he had a special gift for Peter which he personally made for the Bush Doctor, I then came downstairs to the lobby and met this fan who was so overwhelmed to be speaking to the manager of Peter Tosh. In his hand he clutched this guitar which was in the shape of a M16 Rrifle he told me that because Peter was a freedom fighter and he thought that Peter's music was the weapon to free africans and trample down apartheid he personally built this guitar for him as he figured that Peter's music was the weapon to do the job and the song Coming In Hot, Hot, Hot, Firing Musical Shot Shot Shot was the song he liked and he thought that since Peter can't use a real gun to fight hence the guitar in the shape of a M16 rifle would send the message musically.

I was so taken aback with this fan expression and thoughts that I decided to take him and his gift up to Peter's room as I knew that Peter would be very excited to see such an instrument. The moment I walked into Peter's room and he saw the instrument his expression to me was 'wait, a whey yu get that bum....b....claat from, I mmediately inthroduced the young fan and told him that this fan had one of the most interesting statement to make and instantly the young fan handed him the guitar and told him the reason why he made it and what he thought of Peter's music. Peter immeditately called his guitarist Donald Kinsey to come to his room to witness his new musical weapon. Kinsey came and the minute he walked into Peter's room he saw Peter
pointing an instrument in the shape of a M16 rifle at him and Peter
said to Kinsey, "Donald a now I a go kill dem pirates deh",

Kinsey was so shocked at the sight of this guitar and took it from Peter and starting playing it. Kinsey's remarked was that its a great piece of work and craft and proceeded to make a few adjustments on the fret board and the strings.

The fact that the shape of the guitar was so unique and there was no guitar case that this guitar could fit in Peter told me to go to SIR instrument shop and order a custom built case to be made immediately for his new musical weapon. I offered to pay the guy for the guitar but he refused to take any money for it all he said he wanted was an autograph from the Bush Doctor so he could go back to his home town and show his friends that he met the great Peter Tosh. I insisted that he took the money but he kept on refusing the finnancial offer, I literally had to push the money in his pocket and held on to his hands as he tried to push his hand in his pocket to give me back
the money. After a little fun struggle with the fan by me holding on to both his hands preventing him from retreiving the money from his pocket the elated fan finally gave up and accepted the money by leaving it in his pocket.

When the Mama Africa Tour moved over to Europe the airline had lost the guitar and it could not be found, I immediately called our P R and press agent Charley Comer in New York and told him the bad news. Comer an Irish man who was a great lover of Peter's music immediately placed an article in the top German magazine "Der Spiegel' about the lost guitar and who the owner was, by the next day the guitar was found and Peter was now a happy man again.

I can remember during his performance that night in Germany at the
Sunshine Festival when he took it up to play it and he looked at Donald Kinsey and smiled and gave me a nod as I was standing on the side of the stage I could see how happy he was as he strummed along playing his famous wah wah sound on his guitar effect rack.

In December of the same year the Mama Africa Tour went to Swaziland for second concert performances and as soon as the intro of the song 'Fight Gainst Aparthaeid" was heard Peter took up his M16 guitar and started playing, the entire stadium of over 30,000 fans erupted in screams and shouts of 'freedom freedom freedom. The security forces were so amazed at the sight of such an instrument that they started speaking in different african languages, a way in which we couldn't understand what they were saying.

Within five minutes the over 5000 fans who were outside the stadium who could not afford the small entrance fee of $5usd to get in, heard about Peter's M16 guitar and the irated fans began to climb the walls of the stadium while some proceeded to push the gate which came down in no time and those elated fans literally invaded the vip section and pandomonium broke out while the very tight Word Sound and Power band belted out the reggae african anthem of south africa'We gonna fight fight fight fight gainst apartheid. This concert went down
as the most well attended concert in the history of Swaziland until this very day.

Now after this brief history of this famous instrument of one of our
musical freedom fighters Peter Tosh and to hear that this instrument will be put on an auction in Canada, I asked myself where are the administrators of the Peter Tosh Estate. This piece of history should be in a museum in Jamaica where visitors can come and see the weapon that the great musical freedom fighter PETER TOSH used in Southern Africa to help fight the fight to tear down apartheid. Where are the administrators of the Peter Tosh estate this is the property of Peter Tosh, this is the property of his 10 children, this is the property of Miss Alvira Cooke (peter's mother who's still alive) in Westmoreland and last but not least where are the Jamaican people and those who now enjoy and live an apartheid free life.'IT'S
ASHAME, IT'S ASHAME, IT'S ASHAME to treat a great son of the soil of this great country Jamaica who suffered quite a lot of humilation for his country, his culture, his people and most of all this great music called REGGAE MUSIC..Please save Peter's legacy, save Peter's name and most of all save our music and our country.

Thanks

Sanya Richards cooling out in Jamaica

By: Melton Williams

SanyaRichards_Sports.jpgIAAF Female Athlete of the Year, Sanya Richards is relaxing in her native homeland Jamaica after she received the prestigious award along with a cheque for US$100,000 at the 2006 World Athletics Gala in Monaco on Sunday, November 12.

Richards, who will depart the island on Monday, said that her mission for 2007 is to win the gold medal in the 400 metres at the World Championship in Osaka, Japan .

The 21-year-old took 15 straight victories at 400m including breaking the 22-year-old American record with 48.70 to become the seventh fastest woman of all-time.

Although fresh from breaking the record, Richards said that the world record of 47.60 seconds held by Germany's Marita Koch is not in her reach at the moment.

Richards said: "It's not one of my targets for next year but I will attempt the record before I end my career, probably over the next four years or so. However, I'm hoping to challenge Marie-Jose' Perec's time of 48.2 next season."

Commenting on winning the award Richards said that "I was so excited when I found out that I was the Athlete of the Year. This is more than just the icing on the cake. Can I believe it?

"Yes and No. I have worked very hard this year; at the beginning of the season one of my main objectives was to be the 2006 Athlete of the Year but I knew it was going to be hard, with for instance someone like Yelena Isinbayeva who's been dominating the Pole Vault. Thank God I managed to remain on top and get this award," she told YardFlex.com.

She recalled her favourite memories for the year were breaking the American record at the very last meeting of the season and winning in Berlin to remain undefeated in all six meetings of the Golden League.

Wadda Blood, Junior Reid's son, confirmed that his father would be appearing alongside The Game.

"We're flying up today to get ready for the show, it's going to be a hyped performance, my father is excited about it," he told YardFlex.com last week before the show. "It's going to be hype."

Jah Cure has no son, Iyah Cure Music responds

JahCureMusic-ReggaeJamaica.jpgYardFlex.com has been making checks on a story published a few days ago in YardFlex's 'What's Popping' column that suggested that Jah Cure might have an eight year-old son conceived before his incarceration.

The rumour had been around for a while, but has gained momentum in recent weeks as sources close to the family involved say that the son bears a resemblance to the imprisoned singer. However, given the delicate nature of the situation, we cannot divulge more information at this time.

Iyah Cure Music has however contacted us to refute any paternity claims which might be out there.

"I read what was on the site today and I wanted to inform the readers that the comment is simply UNTRUE. Jah Cure does not have any children. He has brothers but no son nor any children of his own. Mama Cure is not even a grandmother yet," Christina Grand, executive director of Iyah Cure Music told YardFlex.com.

"Also, Mama Cure and I just spoke regarding the comment made on your site and we both concluded that if someone had a child for Jah Cure, you better believe that the mother would have come to her or the camp already begging money. And that has not happened in the almost 8 years that he has been in because of the simple fact that DNA testing exists and a woman simply just cannot lie about that any longer. We are living the world of technology, so if any woman wants to say that they have a baby for Jah Cure, they need to present the child to the camp and be ready to pay for the DNA Paternity test outside of Jamaica at a high tech lab. I can guarantee you that this is an out and out lie,"

"It seems that people have too much time on their hands and need to create more media hype. Jah Cure has been falsely accused twice now, enough is enough," she concluded.

Flashpoint Film Festival auctions Peter Tosh's M16 Guitar

Peter-Tosh-M16-Guitar-Reggae.jpgKingston, Jamaica: - Peter Tosh's notorious Stratocaster M16 guitar will be auctioned by the Flashpoint Film Festival on eBay, November 26 - December 3.

At 10pm on Sunday, November 26, Reggae fans, and guitar enthusiasts will be able to bid for Peter Tosh's 'one of a kind' M16 guitar. The auction will run on eBay for 7 days and end at 10pm on Sunday December 3. Online computers will be set up for patrons to bid at the festival from Friday, December 1 - Sunday, December 3, 2006 at The Caves, Negril.

Born Winston Hubert McIntosh in Jamaica in October 1944, reggae's most committed revolutionary, Peter Tosh pioneered musical crusades for the legalization of marijuana and the dismantling of South Africa's apartheid system. During his 1983 tour of Europe, Peter unveiled a new instrument to fight against injustice. That instrument was a Stratocaster guitar, which he requested to be shaped like an M16 rifle. It was through the sweet sound of his guitar that he cried out for freedom. Concerning his newly fashioned guitar, Tosh had this to say: "This guitar is firing shots at all them devil disciples. Music is my weapon to fight against apartheid, nuclear war and those gang-jah criminals". Peter Tosh died at the age of 42 on September 11th, 1987.

When asked how Peter Tosh's M16 guitar ties in with Flashpoint, Paul Bucknor, Co-founder of the festival, responded: "Peter Tosh's M16 Guitar is a Jamaican icon that has been misunderstood as promoting violence when in fact it's quite the opposite. Tosh used music as a weapon to fight injustice and so too film is our weapon to fight the misconceptions about life in our home, Jamaica. Flashpoint wants to make Jamaica better understood through films"

While shooting Scoundrel in Gordon Town, Paul Bucknor met up with his long time friend Andrea (Marlene) Brown, Peter Tosh's common-law-wife. The topic of the guitar soon came up and Marlene told Bucknor that she in fact owned the M16 guitar, which had been locked away in a closet in the US for the last 19 years. Peter Tosh's M16 Guitar has finally returned home to be auctioned, the proceeds of which will go to The Penfield Orphans Home & The Cedar Valley Home.

Peter Tosh's Stratocaster M16 guitar will be auctioned by the Flashpoint Film Festival on eBay, November 26 - December 3. The 2006 staging of the annual Flashpoint Film Festival is set for Friday, December 1 - Sunday, December 3 at The Caves, Negril. Firefly Films, The Caves, Island Outpost, JAMPRO, Phase 3, DB&G, Rockers Its Dangerous, Palm Pictures, Final Draft, Digital Edge, On Que Productions, CVM TV and HYPE TV sponsor the festival.

Asafa Powell - back in Jamaica, Sanya Richards to return home as well

AsafaPowell_SportsJamaicaWorld.jpgJamaican world 100-metre record holder Asafa Powell returned home on Monday night after he was awarded the title of 2006 World Athletes of the Year along with a cheque for US$100,000 at the prestigious 2006 World Athletics Gala in the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Club d'Ete', Monte-Carlo on Sunday.

The annual global awards ceremony for athletics was hosted by International Athletic Foundation (IAF) Honorary President HSM Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAF and IAAF President Lamine Diack, in the presence of 600 distinguished guests.

Powell, who this year won a share of the IAAF Golden League Jackpot, sped to a record (12) sub-10 second clockings for 100m including twice equaling his own World Record (9.77).

Powell said that he went after the award this year after injury had grounded him in 2005.

He said: "last year I wanted to win this title but I didn't because I got injured. This year I worked hard and I'm thankful to get this award. It is a major accomplishment to realize that people recognize the hard work that I put in the sport and they actually vote for me. Next year, I'll work even harder and hopefully win the World title.
"Zurich is definitely the best memory of my 2006 season. It's a race that I won't forget. Brussels is also another good moment, I know it would have been another World record if I hadn't had such a bad start."

Meanwhile, Jamaican-born Sanya Richards, who took the title among the females is expected in the island before the end of the week.
Richards, now competing for the U.S.A., also won a share of the Golden League Jackpot. She took 15 straight victories at 400m including breaking the 22-year-old American record with 48.70 to become the seventh fastest woman of all-time.

Vybz Kartel and D'Angel combination - could this signal a split in the Alliance?

By: Claude Mills
Photos by: Carlington Wilmot

What is going on in the Alliance?

D'AngelandVybzKartel_AddiTechaDancehall.jpgRumours of friction in the Bounty Killer-led camp are set to ratchet up to an insane level as the new combination song between Vybz Kartel a.k.a Addi De Techa and D'Angel has hit FM radio. Killer has been making derogatory comments about D'Angel, his former girlfriend, ever since she announced her engagement to Killer's lyrical nemesis, Beenie Man. It is not sure how Vybz Kartel's latest move will be construed by The Alliance.

The song is creating major buzz in the dancehall, especially as it could signal a split in the Alliance, as Kartel's move is being seen by some dancehall insiders as a "diss" of Bounty Killer.

The song, 'Baby Daddy', is produced by 'Arthur Wails' on the Klampute riddim.

"The deejay is just voicing songs right now, he is just working, this is music, he is a deejay, this is what he is doing, just working," Patrick 'Roach' Samuels, Kartel's manager, told YardFlex.com.

Kartel deejays: Hey baby, buss a mad wine fi Addi/ Cause u know u baby daddy/ U no tek di ladi dadi from any an anybody/Which gal no have no fair an a sleep wid di cabbi

However, she does take a swipe at the Killer, deejaying : Tell them I am safe and sanctified/Mi run weh the waste boy/Find a real mckoy/I'm giving birth to a life.

"Me and Kartel ah friend fi life," D'Angel, who celebrated the birth of her first child, Marco Dean, just last week. She was married to Beenie Man, Bounty Killer's long-time musical nemesis, in August of this year.

"He recorded his part and then I recorded mine. Is not like we coulden work together, but because of time constraints, he did his part, I went and did my part, and now it is on everybody's lips," she told YardFlex.com

"I did it at the ninth hour, just before I went in. And I plan to do a video as soon as possible...in fact it will be my first video when I am back, I will also have a new image, so everybody can look out for that, it not going to be normal."

Tessane Chin's musical experience - "This is what I was made for"

By: Tessane Chin

Its been a year already and a hell of a ride.

TessaneChin_RockDancehallsinger.jpgWell where do I begin? My Name is Tessanne, My passion and every breath is music, all types of music, but especially the kind of music that leaves a message and gets yah thinking, The kind a music that lives on even when many many years have passed, and basically that's the kind of music I wanna make, and with Yahwehs help I'll get there. I've been singing since forever and I pretty much knew all my life that this is what I was made for.

I've had some good experiences on the way, and some bad ones too but hey, all the best songs come from when yah feel like just calling it a day and crawling under some rock hahahah so everything for a reason, but to put everything in a nut shell right quick (cause I hate talking bout my self) I've toured with international reggae superstar and legend "Sir Jimmy Cliff" as his back up singer for about 2-3 years, Most of my fellow Jamaicans may know me as the lead singer from a rock reggae band called Mile High but that came to an end for me about a year and a half ago.

Soooooo, for a solid year I've practically buried myself in the studio with the best producer and yes, the best friend a girl could haveRudy Valentino. I also worked with one of the best drummers/producers in Jamaica, Paul Kastick,. I did the best I could to start working on music that was true to me, music that would move you, make yah think and music that would uplift ...and yes at times ....music that would blow yah God damn head off hahahahahaha!!!

Our type of music cannot be put in a box, it is a mixture of Reggae, Dancehall, Rock and Soul. All these types of music have touched me the most through my journey in music, soo ultimately when I wanted to make music that represented me, this came out! I hope I've succeeded in my efforts, and I pray that my music touches you in some way and if it don't (piss off!) joke! Thanks for listening anyway. For now I'm satisfied (for now) but eventually I know I'll be back in the studio with something else. So thanks for taking the time to visit My space, enjoy!!

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Adoption Plans Ruined by Madonna

brad-angelinaJolie.jpgOne report had claimed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would adopt a baby while they were in India working on the film, 'A Mighty Heart.' But now those plans have reportedly been scrapped and the reason being reported is the grief Madonna has been hit with over her recent adoption.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that the Hollywood couple - who have a baby daughter Shiloh and two adopted children, five-year-old son Maddox, who is Cambodian, and Ethiopian daughter Zahara, who is 22-months-old - planned to give a home to an Indian orphan but have been put off by the criticism Madonna has received for adopting a 13-month-old Malawian boy

A source told Britain's New magazine: "No one wants to be dragged through the heartache that Madonna has. It's a real shame.

"Angelina was so saddened. When people start questioning the legality of adoption, of whether you'll be able to keep the child, it gets into a territory that's just heartbreaking."

The article also claims that the source revealed: "Angelina has a philosophy that people enter your life for a reason - that you go to a place for a reason. This made India a perfect spot for them to explore introducing a new culture into their lives. She believes so strongly in adoption.

"Brad would prefer a boy no older than 18 months to even out the sexes but Angie has told him she can't guarantee she won't fall in love with a little girl. They had originally hoped to be able to bring the child home before Christmas, and had even thought of a name, India, to honor the child's homeland."

Brad has said he would like at least six children, enough to make a mini-soccer team, while Angelina earlier said she wanted thirteen.

Dancehall artiste Assassin steady and deadly - "Last year was a rough"

assassinDancehallartiste_sexygirls.jpgDeejay Assassin lives up to his name with unfailing accuracy. His musical moves have been calculated, versatile, deliberate, and deadly, and now that he's back from a smashing nine-week tour with the Penthouse family, dancehalls can again look forward to more smashers from the prolific deejay.

Ever since his mainstream emergence in 2001, Assassin has guaranteed his fans a steady string of chart toppers every single year and this year has been no different. Gully Sitten, Anyweh We Go, and Gangsta Rock have been ripping up the charts both in Jamaica and overseas, giving the deejay's argument of quality over quantity more credence.

He describes 2006 as a refreshing year with unique challenges. "Last year was a rough year on the personal side, so I never really got to revel in what was happening musically," he recalls. "I had a couple of number ones, made some progress cause we always want to find ourselves in a better position than what we were in the year before...we trying the father thing now, getting used to it, and even while being on the road now so many weeks, my tunes people a recognize them, so we have been doing good."

His tour spanned several states, and the love and respect he received from diverse audiences have made him understand the relevance of his approach to music.

"Being on the road yu learn seh it's not about 100 songs, it's some proper song to add to your catalogue and people can sing them constantly…material sticks around when there's substance to it and how people can relate to it. It must relate to people now and five year's time people must still can relate to it and love it still."

His studies in Business Management have also been going well. He has begun to appreciate the value of proper time management. "I have found that in my readings there are things that I can apply to things happening around me last week, last month, last year," he explains. "It's that type of study. I can manage it easily, and it's more understandable 'cause I can relate it. You can see exactly how it fits in the world, so we're going good and it should make me a better person, when I'm finished."

In five meteoric years, Assassin has climbed past scores of other deejays who all left the starting blocks with him. Many have fizzled and others have lost the focus they started with. Assassin's hunger and rock hard motivation for excellence however, have remained intact for a simple reason. "In my mind I have not made it yet...it's the love that's more important now than anything else. My love of the music is the motivation. It is clean, it's pure, it's sincere. From me a five year old I don't find myself with anything else in my life that gives the joy that music does. That's the motivation".

Despite the achievements however, the deejay feels there are still some hurdles left to clear. "In lyrical content there's always room to grow," he states. "To sing songs that give people cold bumps, to have the tunes standing the test of time, that would make me feel accomplished."

"I have some things that I listen to and feel I would like to try that. I would like sometime to experiment somewhat with tunes, tracks. When yu do that it shows you are on a next level with music, it shows experience."

Though he's just returned and the dust has not yet settled on his last album Infiltration, plans are advanced for another album, and he has started with a plan for recording his material.

"I will start adjusting the material to satisfy the local market, but at the same time can reach a man in Arizona or Colorado. It's not just about Asylum and Weddy Weddy anymore, it must can reach further. It's not a cross over thing, there's a way to do songs that satisfy the ghetto and overseas markets too. I'll be choosing the rhythms carefully for this one, so look for even better things."

RAS PTAH COMES TO TELL EVERYBODY, HE'S BACK

RasPtahDancehall_Baby_SexyGirls.jpgRas Ptah ak.a Galaxy P has been blazing a fire in recent times with a bunch of new hits that have grabbed the attention of dancehall fans everywhere.

Known for the hits like 'Ms. Goodie Goodie' under the name Galaxy P, he has since changed his name to Ras Ptah as he has adopted a Rastafarian lifestyle. Amun means self-hidden essence of all things, Ra denotes the sun god, and Ptah represents the physical of all things.

A video was shot for 'Tell Everybody' recently, and plans are well advanced to shoot 'Prettiest Gal as well.

"Mi come back fi the gal dem ting billias, sikka than before," he said.

He performed at Anthony B's album launch last week and he will be one of the feature acts on a show called 'Tell Everybody' in Philadelphia on December 22.

He has also taken issue with Fantan Mojah's repeated references to Macka Tree

"People always ask me if he really comes from Macka Tree but mi no know him, he doesn't come from the community and he keeps saying Macka Tree family, I don't know if is a controversy him a try create," he said. "But me come from the real Macka Tree."

By: Claude Mills

BeenieManandWifeD'Angel.jpg

D'Angel became a mom for the first time when her son, Marco Dean, entered the world at about 9 p.m yesterday.

A release from the couple declared that "Mr. and Mrs. Moses Davis would like to announce the birth of their son, Marco Dean on November 9, 2006. We are indeed grateful to God that he is healthy and that there were no complications during birth. We are certain that he will bring joy to our lives and strengthen our love for each other. We would like to thank family, friends and our fans for their prayers and best wishes at this time. We love you all."

YardFlex.com learned of the happy arrival only a few minutes after the delivery, but at the request of the couple's privacy, declined to reveal too many details about the baby at this time. After a whirlwind romance played out on the front pages of the nation's tabloids, the couple had got married in August of this year, and had confirmed the pregnancy in March.

We wish the happy couple all the best.

The return of reggae singer Yvad - "The message has to get out"

YvadDread_Reggaemusic.jpgOnce hailed in music circles as the Next Big Thing, these days, music aficionados have had to be asking instead: What happened to Yvad?

Well, these days Yvad is signed to New Beat Records, and is working on a new album which will be completed within the next two months.

"Since teaming up with Victor Simpson, I am just getting ready to launch the attack," Yvad said.

At this point, 12 tracks have been completed, and Yvad had worked with such industry heavyweights as Clive Hunt, Wayne Armond, David Kennedy, Michael Myrie, Bobby Digital, and Mikey Bennett.

When Yvad hit the scene with the album "Young, Gifted & Dread" - released by Ras Records in 1996 - he was surrounded by hype, but promptly disappeared.

Of the years since then, Yvad only commented:
"Sometimes, a lot of artistes have to struggle with contractual things, but I am good to move right now," he said.

Industry insiders disclosed that Yvad was locked into a contract that he did not like, but never stopped working, amassing an impressive catalogue of unreleased songs while working out of a studio in New York.

Since returning to Jamaica, he has traveled a lot between Kingston and Central Jamaica, getting his head together, and he readies himself to re-launch his career.

"Over the years, I have been writing and recording consistently, I have the Yvad catalogue, and once this new album builds momentum, I have a lot of unreleased stuff that the whole world is going to want to hear," he said.

Yvad was born Kevin Davy in Kingston, Jamaica. When he was two years old his parents sent him to the country to escape political violence. In the peace and quiet of the country, he attended school and church, and discovered his love for music. While attending the Moravian Church, he began singing, playing guitar, and became a member of the choir. Yvad was at school with his friends when he formed a singing group. As time passed, he realized that he lived for the moments when they were singing together. He also found that through songwriting he could record his inner-most thoughts in his pensive moments. He was always hanging out at the Bob Marley Museum singing and playing guitar, and it was there that he was discovered by Cedella Marley.
Yvad's sophomore album was "Justice" in 2004 which included an awesome cover version of John Lennon's "Imagine" which earned rave reviews from critics and disc jocks. Now, he is looking to seal the deal with his third.

The lead single for the album could be 'Sweet Jamaica' or 'The Cry for the Youths' which are both awesome tracks that this reporter was able to listen to during the interview. It showed that Yvad remains as irrepressible as ever, and his mellow, ital vibes bleed out of the tracks.

"When the album is complete, I intend to shop it around to the major record companies, but if doesn't work out, I plan to sell and distribute this album myself. The message has to get out," he said.

And that it will. We have a feeling that the whole world will be beating a path to his door to listen to Yvad's unique reggae stylings. You can bet your house on it.

Luciano drops Copeland Forbes as personal manager

Luciano-copelandForbes.jpgSinger Luciano, known for the mega-hits 'Sweep Ova My Soul' and 'It's Me Again Jah', has terminated the services of Copeland Forbes, head of Comar Productions, as his personal manager effective November 4, 2006. He will, however, retain Mr. Forbes' services as a booking agent and tour manager.

"Ever since Jah Messenjah has been on the road, Mr. Fobres has been my tour manager, 'Fattis' was my personal manager at the time...Mr. Forbes is an influential, important and busy man as the world can see...this is to add somebody to the Jah Messenjah movement, Mr. Forbes will be in charge, we have never operated under a contract for the past 13 years, so we realize that Mr. Forbes needs help, and that's why we have brought in someone else," Luciano, who is now on his 'Child of a King' promotional tour in the United States.

Luciano's new manager is Lewis Folkes a.k.a Sean, who is the head of a production label called JALPO and according to Luciano, "has many connections in American and other parts of the world".

"Any changes being made is for the better of Jah Messenjah and not to take away from anyone," Luciano said.

Has Mr. Forbes failed you as a manager?

'He has not failed me in I and I eyes...is only fair to find someone to concentrate on the personal management aspect..I have always had a spiritual connection with Mr. Forbes, it is deeper than just business, and we share common bonds...I have no qualms working with Mr. Forbes."

For his part, Mr. Forbes, a 45 year veteran of the music industry, welcomed the move, saying that it gave him more free time to focus his energies on other projects.

"Luciano had been talking about making some changes, and he came over to my house and we had a meeting and sat down and discussed some things. One of the things he said was that a lot of my strength is in bookings and in live shows because I have a good contact around the world, so I will concentrate on bookings and another team will deal with the management side in terms of co-ordinating other things different from live concerts. The fact is that I had played the manager and booker right after previous management...after Xterminator, he had another manager, and I had to pick up the slack, and I've been doing it for the past nine years...it is time for a change," Copeland Forbes told YardFlex.com

"Next year is my 45th anniversary in the business, and I need to concentrate on my book, 'My Reggae, My Life', a book that will be very important to the industry because it will be a book that people will learn how tours are done, various artiste management skills and various things that have to do with the industry...three major publishers are bidding, so to speak, for the righst to that book."

Dancehall Singer Lukie D - six-week European tour

LuckyD_Dancehall.jpgTop notch crooner Lukie D is embarking on a six-week tour of Europe which will see him appearing in gigs in countries such as Switzerland, Germany, and Spain, as well as two shows in the Middle East hotbeds of Tel-a-Viv and Jericho.

"I am looking forward to the tour because I always hold a nice vibe in Europe because that is place that loves roots music," he told YardFlex.com.

"A lot of people don't even know I can sing roots, but I have a good repertoire of songs. When I go to Europe, I can perform songs that don't get any airplay in Jamaica, but it shows that if you do good music, you can always earn because there are people who appreciate it," Lukie D, who scored a major roots hit, 'Heavy Load' in Europe as far back as 1995.

He attended the Oopsala Sundance festival in August.

He has a new album entitled 'Deliver Me' which is racking up sales all over the world. It was number two on the reggae charts in Japan, number five on the New York reggae charts and number six on the South Florida charts.

"I don't even know how the album made it to North America as it was really done for the European roots market, but it is a pleasant surprise to see it doing so well in the United States," he said.

Lukie D says all the songs are originals except for one, a cover of the Backstreet Boys' 'Drowning'. He will return to Jamaica to perform at shows such as Campfire and Jam Jam in December.

Matthew Knowles and Omarion signs New Boy Group 2 Much!

2Much2.jpgFew teens who one day fantasize about forming a hip-hop group, cutting a record and hitting the road, see that dream become a reality a year later, but that is exactly what has happened for Milo Stokes.

With the help of his cousin, stage and film star Omarion, and his dad, manager/director Chris Stokes, Milo and his two talented singer/dancer friends Marcel Wildy and Chris Cheeks, went from dancing and rhyming in each others' living rooms to cutting songs in a state of the art studio. The group was discovered by Omarion, who signed 2 Much to his O Records label, and is currently recording under the leadership of Chris Stokes, the man behind B2K and writer/director of "You Got Served."

While hanging with Omarion and B2K touring the states just a couple years ago, Milo, Wildy and Cheeks were eager to start their own group, one that would, like B2K, fuse hot dance moves with smooth R&B and hip-hop. During a New York show on the tour that dream took a giant leap toward reality when Chris Stokes spotted a young kid in the crowd with strong pipes and killer moves. After a brief audition backstage for Omarion the Bridgeport, Connecticut-native Myles Cleveland, became the missing link to the group Milo and the gang had dreamt about. And just like that, 2 Much was born.

"I saw something special that I've never seen in a young boys group before," says producer/manager Chris Stokes. "They're like the new Jackson Five." Remembering when his son, Milo (the "crooner of the group"), expressed interest in following in cousin Omarion's footsteps, Chris says with a laugh, "I hate it-but he loves the business so whatever my son wants, I want to back him up."

Not long after that fateful tour stop, the L.A.-based teen quartet showcased for Music World Entertainment chief executive Matthew Knowles and Senior Vice President of A&R Max Gousse, who immediately signed a deal with the group for its debut released via O Records/ T.U.G./Music World Music. Ever since, 2 Much has been recording daily and performing to packed houses on the weekends on a national mall tour. While each member boasts sharp dance skills, vocally the group is split down the middle: Cleveland and Cheeks handle the rhymes, and Milo and Marcel bring the smooth vocals: Says Milo: "We have real ghetto, hood stuff, but Marcel knows how to get to the ladies."

Says Cheeks: "We're here to make music for everybody. We're not trying to separate hip-hop and R&B and make it into different genres, we're trying to put it all together to make feel good music."

2 Much is the type of group both destined to be embraced by both teens and their parents. "I know this might be a big cliche," says Omarion "but I think they're B2K, a different version-a better version.

Together, the four members of 2 Much fuse such diverse musical influences as the Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye and Jay Z, plus classic soul. All four members have been singing and dancing all their lives, be it in front of friends, family, classmates or even the public. Performing, says Chris Cheeks, "is the best feeling, it's like a rush, a crazy rush, it's a totally different experience than what people take it for, I'm a different person when I'm up there."

Says Marcel, "For me, it's the ultimate joy. It's like utopia for me." Right now, says Milo, "We're having so much fun, we're kind of like kids in a candy store."

The group is slated to embark on the MX2 national teen tour with fellow Music World Music star J. Xavier and Def Jam Recording artist Mic Little in the spring of 2007 and are managed by Music World Entertainment and T.U.G Entertainment.

Elephant Man now officially a Bad Boy - "I knew that he was the one" (Diddy)

Bad Boy Records Inks Landmark Deal with VP Records and Dancehall Superstar Elephant Man

ElephantMan_pdiddy_beenieManSeanPaulRihannaDancehallPhotoBadBoy.jpg

Sean "Diddy" Combs of Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment announced today a landmark deal with reggae/dancehall music label VP Records to market and distribute dancehall superstar, Elephant Man. "Elephant Man is one the greatest entertainers in his genre of music. When I saw him at Madison Square Garden ripping down the stage, I knew that he was the one. He will be a great addition to our team," Sean "Diddy" Combs said. The first release from Elephant Man under the new Bad Boy/VP Records venture is slated for spring 2007 with a single and video expected in early 2007.

Known for his high-energy live performances, Elephant Man a/k/a O'Neil Bryan is one of the few dancehall acts to crossover into mainstream music. Collaborations with Diddy, Cassie, Rhianna, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy, Mya, and long time collaborator Lil' Jon, are expected on his upcoming release. In addition to the new CD in the works, Elephant Man will also hit the road as a supporting act on Diddy's world tour to begin in February 2007 in support of Diddy's new album "Press Play," in stores this October.

A protege of dancehall king, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man signed with VP Records in 2003 and crossed over into the pop mainstream with his hit single "Pon Di River" and collaborations with The Ying Yang Twinz, Lil' Jon and Twista. Regarding the joint venture with Bad Boy, Elephant Man, known to fans as the Energy God, remarked: "Ya know we are excited to work with P. Diddy, the vibes are there, and with this combo we are gonna take dancehall to another level. I'm looking forward to dropping (the album) and the promotion, cuz Diddy is creative, and with him and the Energy God together...It's gonna be madness!"

Willie Daniels of VP Records commented: "Elephant Man has collaborated with many international stars, Lil' Jon, Janet Jackson, Will Smith, and Mariah Carey to name a few, but I have never seen him so motivated to succeed. This collaboration is a natural progression in his career as an artist and entertainer."

Bad Boy Records GM, Harve Pierre added, It's a pleasure working with Elephant and VP Records and I know that it will be a great experience."

VP Records, established in 1979 as a retail store, is the largest independent label for new Jamaican music in the United States, and holds a predominant position in the influential hip-hop-flavored dancehall niche. The 2002 release Sean Paul's debut on VP Records catapulted the Jamaica-born reggae artist into a multi-platinum household name.

Sony Pictures Pushing Shottas To the Top

By: Janice Dayle

ShottasDirectorCessSilvera_SingerMonica.jpgShottas, an action packed urban classic film, is officially hitting the streets on Friday, November 3, 2006. This long awaited news was released on November 1, 2006 at a South Beach, Miami launch held at Santos. Select theatres in Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Boston and Chicago will roll out the crisp, brand new version, as distributors Sony Pictures puts the Caribbean focussed and produced film to the gruelling mainstream test. Harbouring feelings of anxiety, described as being greater than an expectant dad's, director Cess Silvera is certain of box office success, saying Shottas today far surpasses all previously viewed underground bootlegged copies, with the inclusion of previously unreleased scenes.

SHOTTASPaul_Campbell_aka_Mad_Max.jpgDeveloped from the story ideas of Silvera's brother, the late Fada Screw, Shottas evolved as a family affair. Based on true life experiences, the screenplay was written by both brothers and produced by their cousin, Ritchie Epps. Hailing from St Ann the creative trio succeed in capturing dramatic Caribbean realism that forces dialogue about controversial issues of stereotypical mayhem intertwined with tropical and cultural serenity.

Featuring highly acclaimed actors like Paul Campbell and stellar musicians - Ky-Mani Marley, Wyclef Jean and Spragga Benz, Shottas' captivating raw roughness, is smoothed out by the Silvera's distinctive approach to film style.

SHOTTASdeb_and_richie_X_movie_producer.jpgProducer, Ritchie Epps, a St Jago High School alumni was simply aglow with delight as he described the project that was created in 2 months and then took almost 5 years to appear on the big screens. Recounting personal production highlights, Ritchie Epps said, "Coming down to 36 and Biscayne in Miami on the first day of production, shooting scenes on location in Jamaica and the final official unveiling of the movie tonight - have been the best moments for me."

Silvera said, "Shottas has the potential of becoming the first Caribbean film to be marketed globally by a major movie studio and releasing Shottas in limited locations is a Sony marketing strategy designed to measure the possibility of wider success." Consumer response is paramount at this juncture, since extending the movie's availability in additional US cinemas as well as internationally, will depend on box office records over the next few days.

SHOTTASCess_Silvera_and_wife.jpgDedicated to Fada Screw, who died a year and a half ago, this official release comes as a challenge to Caribbean movie lovers to support a classic film. After all, millions of the bootlegged copy circulated over the years...so it is high time to prove a YARD based movie can also shine. Get out and pack the cinemas over the next few weeks.

ONE THIRD RECORDS ON VIP RIDDIM

Claude Mills
YardFlex Writer

Risingstars-OneThirdYardFlex_DancehallSexyGirls.jpgSince winning the Rising Stars competition, the group One Third has been inundated by requests for shows all over the island.

"Basically, we have a whole lot of events which we are booked through right to the end of the year, and into early January. The boys will also be appearing on Heineken Startime on November 11th, plus we have the Manhattans shows in Jamaica where we'll be performing on two legs in Mandeville and Montego Bay," manager Ray Alexander told YardFlex.com

The members of the group One Third are Al Johnson, Adrian Campbell and Miguel Walters.

They have recently recorded singles such as dancehall-flavoured 'Fatty Fatty' on Danny Champagne's VIP rhythm, and dabbled in social commentary with the Collie Bud-produced 'Candlelight', and the socially conscious 'The Call' produced by Norman Owen on the MNC label.

Sika medley featuring Turbulence and Sasha

Turbulence_and_Sasha-YardFlex.jpgThe Turbulance and Sasha clash songs on this rhythm "sell off" because of the buzz in the streets about the bitter end to their much-publicised relationship. Turbulance's 'No Man No Perfect' served as an excellent first blow to comments allegedly made by Sasha during a television interview recently as it mocks the ex-couple's 'We've Got The Love' song, and suggests that it was rumour-mongering that caused the end of their relationship, and declared in no uncertain terms that "mi nah look yu back".

For her part, Sasha replied with 'Got What You Need', a competent rebuttal of Turbulance's comments. There are some choice lines such as 'mi know yuh a man and mi muss get bun, but sex without a condom a careless fun'. But she also pokes fun at him using a man's voice to illustrate how Turbulance tried to justify his actions by saying: "Selassie I Jah Rastafari, a jacket dem a gi I, anno lie I a lie."

Apart from all that passa passa, 'Sika' is a rhythm that is getting a lot of love on FM radio, especially since Kartel's socially conscious, 'Better Living (More Money, More School, More House' hit the airwaves and has just entered the local charts. He has another song called 'Party Ah Gwaan' which has been overshadowed by the previous. Maybe Kartel is really dancehall music's Picasso, who really was better than everyone else. This could be his last hit song as Vybz Kartel as he will be doing an album with Stephen McGregor entitled 'Vybz Kartel Presents Addi de Techa' as he changes his name to escape his contract with Greensleeves Records.

The rhythm has also firmly established the youngblood, Lion Cub as a force to reckon with as he delivers the title track, 'Sika Sitten' in a rollicking radio hit that is climbing up Richie B's Tru Juice charts, and is now at #28. Standout tracks include Natalie's 'Big Things' which has forced radio disc jocks to sit up and listen to this new talent with her ice-cube clear vocals and tight harmonies.

Up-and-comer Millennium lowers the boom on the rhythm with 'Neva Know', Harry Toddler's 'Beggy Beggy' is a decent effort, while Goofy's 'X-Man' offers his take on the Turbulance-Sasha dust-up. Other songs include Frisco Kid's 'Ah That Mi She', and I-Maroon chimes in with 'One Woman Kill Nature', and Conrad Crystal and Sugar Roy have 'Ah Mi Fi Tell Yu'. Heavyweights such as Bling Dawg, Anthony B, Ras Ptah, Hit List and Perfect have recently showed up at the studio to add colour to the mix and even Elephant Man has chipped in with 'Do It Mek She Cry' as well.

Could parents of 'Dutty Wine' girl sue Matterhorn?

Tony_Matharoon_Baby_Cham_Bares_Hammond_GoodasHypeTVSue_DuttyWine.jpgCould Tony Matterhorn be sued by the parents of the Tanisha Henry who died while allegedly doing the 'Dutty Wine' dance during a party in her Beacon Avenue community over the weekend?

Legal eagle Lloyd Stanbury believes that there are no legal grounds under which the family could successfully sue the performer or his record label for wrongful death and negligence.

"That would be a bit far-fetched," he said. "You can sue for anything but whether you are successful is another matter."

He went on to say: "There is no basis for liability, and I can't imagine how a court would interpret such a case because I don't see how one could extend liability to an artiste for simply doing a song. If he had been staging a concert, it would have been different because under the law, he would have needed insurance to cover his invited guests."

In the meantime, the autopsy to determine cause of death will reportedly be conducted tomorrow in Spanish Town , St. Catherine.

DMX child support - The mother of the baby "raped me"

dmx-783954.jpgDMX told S2S magazine that he bears no responsibility for his illegitimate child because the mother of the baby "raped me. I mean, you know, that might sound like some bullsh-t. No man has ever been. you know what I mean, like never?"

And DMX' wife, Tashera Simmons, is standing by her man, claiming that the woman "came up to us [and] said 'I work for kids that are sickly," Simmons said in an interview with the magazine. She added that DMX said to give the woman his number. "At first, I said OK," Simmons said, "But, then I thought she looked deranged and obsessed with him."

news_ludacris.jpgLudacris' "Money Maker" (featuring Pharrell) tops the Billboard Hot 100 for the second consecutive week after knocking Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" last week. Ludacris' run at the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart ends after Chris Brown's "Say Goodbye" took the top spot on that chart.
