Watch your debit cards!

We read a story in the Star yesterday and think it’s our duty to warn all Jamaican card holders…well maybe it’s being practiced overseas too. But from what we understand there are some unscrupulous persons who have devised new means through which to capture and steal account information.
The new developments, which include the installation of various pieces of equipment which are able to clone the user's card, and copy all the required information, are forcing local banks to come up with strong measures to combat these practices. A number of the banks using the popular multi-link network have been affected.
Here are ways to protect your pin:
Keep your pin information safe.
Don’t ask strangers for help at the ATM.
Try to shield your keypad when using the ATM or at point of sale machines.
Check out the ATMs to see if there is anything suspicious
If your card is stuck report it to the bank right away
Check your account from time to time to ensure there is no sus
