Portmore Empire artistes still in Guyana; maybe they will be home for Christmas

Portmore Empire artistes, Jahvinci, Shawn Storm, Pop Caan and Dose of Medicine, have been in Guyana since last weekend for a reggae concert there, and it’s not certain if they will return to Jamaica in time for Christmas.
The show was billed as a peace concert with Gaza president, Vybz Kartel, as the headline act. Kartel, however, did not show up for the event, causing the show to be cancelled and the promoter to lose millions.
Reacting to reports first carried in YardFlex that the artistes and their manager Lenburgh “Len” McDonald (Not Supreme Promotions’ Laing as was first reported), were being held hostage, one newspaper in Guyana noted that the artiste were still in Guyana, but were comfortable. The hostage reports are said to be “lies and wicked rumours”.
Guyana’s Stabroek News, quoted the management of Conscious Minds Promotions as saying that the four artistes who arrived in Guyana last weekend for the Vybz Kartel peace concert are still there waiting to perform and were comfortable in a private hose provided by the promoter. .
The report quotes one of the artistes as saying, “We here in ah Guyana safe and sound and ready to entertain the fans.”
YardFlex had reported that the promoter had checked the artistes and their manager out of the hotel Sunday morning and had taken them to a private house at an undisclosed location where they were making dubplates on rapid. Other reports also noted that the promoter in Guyana and another in St Lucia – where Kartel was supposed to perform on Sunday but again did not show up – were angry over the looses they incurred as a result of Kartel’s no-show.
Conscious Minds had initially sent out a statement that ticket holders would be refunded their money, but the story now is that that “The promoters requested that ticket-holders hold on to their tickets. If all goes well the show will be held before Christmas or at a later date.”
Kartel’s manager, “ from the comfort of the house in Guyana said he is awaiting a call from Kartel and that if all goes well the show will be staged before Christmas,” Starbroek News quotes the promoters as saying..
