There are a lot of Heroes around!

By Rootzgirl
Today, as we celebrate National Heroes Day, let’s big up those who have put their lives on the line to make our lives better. Kudos to them who have sacrificed…their lives even to ensure that we have a freer Jamaica.
Flowers will be laid at our seven National Heroes graves and speeches will be made…nothing is wrong with that…but today, I am taking time out to big up our modern day heroes, who might not even hear a ‘thank you’ for all the sacrifices they have made.
Year after year the country presents badges, OJ and all kind of awards to those they deem worthy of them…nothing is wrong with that either.
This day is about giving credit to all the unsung heroes who day after day go about their sometimes thankless task…just because they care and want to.
Big up to all the single mothers who are using $3,000 a week to ensure food is on the table for their children and they are still wearing clean clothes, going to school and holding the best of grades amongst the more privileged.
Big up to the fathers who are there for their children, even when they have to deal with baby mama dramas, but still they hang in there and ensure they spend quality time and pass on good values.
Big up to all those who have made it their life’s mission to contribute to some positive movements. People will never know how many hungry kids you helped, or many you aided secretly to go to school. Nor will they know how many donations you made to a hospital, church or some other project…just because you are that kind of person.
Big up to the regular parents who are doing really great jobs with their kids…being there for them, showing them love and allowing them to feel secure and confident on this planet.
To all the unsung heroes Rootzgirl and Yardflex just want to let you know, you are appreciated…even if no one else says so.
