Champions in Action Cancelled

The much advertised Champions in Action which was scheduled to be held in Toronto tomorrow (Saturday, October 10) has been cancelled. Up to late last night the backing band was still in rehearsal for the show, with no official word coming to artistes who are booked to be on the show.
Yardflex spoke with “someone with the ears to the streets” out of Canada and according to him for weeks there was discontent about the fact that Elephant Man is on the show. There was even an article written in one of the Canadian papers where the gay community issued a warning that Elephant Man should not perform any of his known homophobic song.
“The move was sudden, we are still not getting any official words on the real reason the show was called off. Many are speculating that it’s because of the gay community…but there has been no words from the promoter – Action Promotions,” our source told us.
The show which reigned as one of the top annual events in Jamaica was embraced with deep anticipation by dancehall loving fans in Canada.
“All I can tell you is that it’s one major disappointment for us here,” said the source.
Yardflex will keep you posted on the latest in this one.
