Major Mackerel attacked by sword-wielding neighbour
According to an Associated Press report, veteran dancehall artiste, Major Mackerel was slashed in the head, arm and hand by a Brooklyn man wielding a 26-inch sword.
Mackerel’s neighbour, a 37-year-old man, was arrested and the sword recovered Sunday morning. Reports are that the man claim that Major Mackerel, whose real name is Garfield Dixon, was harassing his wife.
But, Novia Watson, girlfriend of the entertainer, is quoted as saying that this allegation is untrue. Dixon also denied harassing the man’s wife.
Major Mackerel was hospitalised for several hours. He left with bandages crowning his dreadlocks and wrapped around his left hand, his wrist and elbow, the New York Daily News reported.
The 37-year-old neighbor faces charges including assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon.
