Chino Set on his Musical Path

There is no changing from the musical path that Daniel ‘Chino’ McGregor is set on. The song of reggae stalwart Freddie McGregor is definitely a talent in his own right as he shows that he has what it takes to hold his own in the competition music industry.

His accomplishments are now pretty impressive as he was recently chosen to work on the Coke Zero project, which was an overwhelming success. ..that leads to his being in the National Geographic documentary.

The documentary, 'The Music Nomad - Made in Jamaica' highlighted the Jamaican music and culture with the McGregor family taking the lead role.

“it was not about putting on or taking off anything. I brought them in the studio and captured the whole recording process,” he told Yardflex.

From Mawning since it hit the airwaves took off like a raging fire. The infectious riddim and the uplifting words seemed to have found a comfortable niche in the hearts of music lovers. Chino is now working on the video for the hot single and he says it should be ready to hit the streets in the next two weeks.

A newly released single is now getting a buzz on the scene and it’s Nuh Put Nuh Woman Pon Yuh Head, rapping about the song Chino says it’s self explanatory. “Any man in the street can relate to that song. But it’s for the youths to take in their education and leave big people things alone,” he added.

The talented artiste also shared his opinion with Yardflex on the state of the dancehall…” The production level is stepping up, we are getting a lot of positive songs as opposed to the negative styles. Outside of that, I wish a lot more Jamaican could get the chance to travel more to places in the US and Europe and Japan,” he said, adding that they would be in for a rude awakening as “no one know them or would be interested in some of the music they are raving about here.

“Make music that appeal to the wider public ,” Chino said as he told Yardflex it was a thrill to hear people who don’t speak English chanting the words of his songs.

For Chino the solution to making the music business much better is for everyone to work together. “Artistes and producers have to unite. A pure hypocrite, everyone smile until you look like you making a further step. Cut out the crab inna barrel mentality,” he warned.

Looking ahead Chino in between keeping his performance engagements in and out of the country is working on a brand new riddim, which he is for the moment keeping close to his chest.

No amount of prodding could get that information out…but all we can say is that it will be coming with some real tough tunes.
