Attempted Hijacker Found Guilty

Stephen Fray who attempted to hi-jack the Can Jet plane in Montego Bay has been found guilty on eight of 10 charges.
The 23-year-old Montego Bay resident who is on trial for his role in the hostage drama on a Canjet Flight at the Sangester International Airport earlier this year was convicted Thursday.
The verdict was handed down in the Western Regional Gun Court in Montego Bay on Thursday afternoon.
In court on Thursday the judge made her deliberation, then ordered a social enquiry which is to be handed in on October 8 when Fray's case will be decided.
Fray's lawyers George Thomas told RJR News about the charges and noted that they ranged from assault to illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
It was on the night of April 19 that Fray eluded security personnel at the Sangster International Airport and boarded a Canjet flight destined for Canada via Cuba.
He held passengers and crew hostage for eight hours before being disarmed by a crew member and was nabbed by a special security team that had surrounded the aircraft.
The incident drew international attention with media personnel arriving in droves the following morning.
