Passing of Professor Rex Nettleford’s mother Labertha Palmer



Labertha Palmer (born March 1909) passed peacefully at the Beth Abraham’s Home Care Center, Bronx, on September 20, 2009, leaving two daughters, Daphne and Iris, and a son, Professor the Hon. Rex Nettleford, a roving ambassador for his native Jamaica and Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the University of West Indies, along with several grand and great grandchildren, resident in Jamaica, the United States and the United
Kingdom.


A Thanksgiving/Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 26th, 5pm, at the Wake Eden Community Baptist Church,2074 Strang Ave., Bronx, New York 10466 (at Murdock Ave), with Rev. Dr. Samuel G. Simpson as the officiating Pastor.


In lieu of flowers a contribution to the UWI American Foundation Scholarship Fund, in Ms. Palmer’s name, will be accepted.
