Jamaican Playwriter Trevor Rhone Is Dead

Well known Jamaican playwright Trevor Rhone died this afternoon.Rhone who was born in 1940 is a writer and playwright who began his theatre career as a teacher after a three year stint at Rose Bruford College, an English drama school. He was part of the renaissance of Jamaican theater in the early 1970's.


Rhone participated in a group called Theatre '77, which established The Barn, a small theater in Kingston, Jamaica to stage local performances.


Among his works is the script to The Harder They Come, a 1972 crime film, which was instrumental in popularizing reggae in the US. He also wrote the script for the 2003 romance One Love.


In July 2007, Trevor Rhone is awarded 3rd place of the top 100 all time black screen icons in the past 100 years.


Among his popular plays are Smile Orange, Two Can Play, Old Story Time and the film Milk and Honey.

    He was and still is an outstanding and an outgoing person who has never and will never back down,he's still loved R.I.P BIG MAN we miss you.

    And this is just a girl who loves his life and stories flims and awards he has recieved. He was a great man and still is in the grave.
