I am really sad, but not surprised by such a non-sensical statement made by a very troubled person. The University of The West Indies should by no means be blamed for Kartel's unfortunate utterance, nor offer any apologies to UTECH. What should be done, and I will do it personally, is speak to the Guild on Mona campus to implement a ban on entertainers such as Kartel from performing at any event hosted by UWI. As a post-graduate student at UWI, I am quite sure that the UTECH community will know that it is hard to curb or control the behaviour of idiots like Kartel... As I have repeatedly said, Kartel will reap what he sows in the end.

Well all i have to say is that Kartel is not a person that should be performing at the UWI. Kartel in my opinion is a DJ who represents low class people his lyrics are of no substance. For too long we have being endorsing and casting these chesty so-call DJs on some form of plateau making them feel they can do or say whatever, wherever not aware of the sensitivity. As a people our current moral bar is so low we don't even understand good entertainment. A mean if we can't get entertainment right, how you expect the rest of the world to view us. Mr Kartel you are a LEADER but a BAD one. At the end of the day, you will not go down as a good so-call versifier, but an individual that is partly responsible for bringing our well loved culture that the world envy us for to a new low. We the young fans may not fully understand the implications, but the more we grow and become responsible decent adults, our demise will fully present itself. Mr Kartel we need an apology not just to university community, but to the entire nation for such a low blow on our intellectuality. I know you can do better.
