Reggae Summer Fest to benefit cancer research
The National Alliance Foundation, a non-profit network committed to promoting awareness for cancer, recently announced plans for their annual Reggae Summer Fest for Cancer Research concert which will again bring top-flight reggae acts and entertainment to Washington DC.
The event, scheduled for Sunday August 30, hopes to once again attract reggae music lovers and people who have an affinity for Caribbean culture to the DC area.
Continuing the trend of providing high-quality diverse entertainment in the nation’s capital, the foundation officials claim that this festival will again be different, as a broader slate of popular artistes will be presented.
In addition to the musical fare, there will be food and a variety of items from the many vendors who will be exhibiting. Children 12 and under will be admitted free, while adult admission starts at $45 advance ticket. Limited VIP tickets and general admission tickets are available at Ticketmaster and a number of Caribbean businesses including Caribbean Breeze located in Virginia, Caribbean Sea in Maryland and Logan Circle Liquor located in Washington DC.
The lineup includes national and internationally known reggae artistes Beenie Man, Capleton, Cocoa Tea, I-Wayne, Marcia Griffiths, Jovi Rockwell, Mahmoud Ahmed from Ethiopia, Fire Star, Nesbeth and Terry Linen.
Backing bands include Image, The I-Ternals, Lionize, Raslidj & Deep Band playing Regggo, STORM, Kadar, Kunzo & Tonestar from Nigeria, British, Hutchy, Hya Dream, Mr. Tex and Zulan Obrian.
Music will be provided by a parade of exciting DJ’s to include Glamour G from Amplex, Half Krazy, DJ Fyah-Oats, King Raw Deal, DJ Chick and Outlaw.
