Giants of the 80s low turnout…good performances
By Joan Wilson:
Giants of the 80s held at little Ochi in Alligator Pon, St Elizabeth did not enjoy the crowd support but there were some good performances especially from Professor Nuts and Peter Metro.
The Nutty Professor had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand as he went through his paces. He could do no wrong for them as they ate up everything thing he dished out and still wanted more.
There was no shortage of laughter as he performed songs such as Don’t, Jimmy Bascombe and Tan So Back.
The other big winner for the evening was Peter Metro. He was in a militant mood and wasted no time taking the crowd to task as he went into some “history lesson” and then it was comedy time with Police Inna England. Metro hit out against the killing in the society and he also had strong words for cops who were killing innocent youths and covering up.
By the time Metro was through, he left behind a totally satisfied crowd.
Earlier performers such as Squidley Ranks was a big disappointment. Echo Minott had no trouble connecting, Cush Hunta got his chance to shine, then it was time for reggae crooner Leroy Gibbons, he did his thing and made way for Flourgon who delivered…it was even more fun when he was joined on stage by Daddy Lizard.
Little John could have stayed cause he was on and off the stage in a jiffy.
General Trees had no problem keeping the crowd entertained.
All in all the Giants proved to be an entertaining evening, especially with the humorous in between quips from MC Kingsley Ragashanti Stewart.
