David Cropper co-creator of the Caribbean version of MTV Tempo was enjoying being his own person in Toronto, doing his thing…life could not be better.
Then one day he had a dream about about a black angel with black wings, and he was standing on a rock and he started to tell me about all the people that he is about to devour. He awoke from the dream that seemed more like a nightmare and told his wife about it.
Little did he know that it was a warning for things that would later happen in his life.
With life continuing to be great for him, he soon put all that dream behind him.
When his friend Doug E Fresh told him about a man who was looking for someone like him to help kick off a Caribbean network for MTV he soon found himself being persuaded by his friend who told him "I want you to get some of this corporate $ bro..and you have a chance to give back to your people and help build the Caribbean industry across the region"
“I met with FM In Toronto the end of the week, it was cool.... he was cool I was like let's do it... 2 week's later I was in the US, I said to him if I'm going to leave my life here it better be worth it for me...my wife did not want to move to NYC...he promised that the job would be well worth it for me,” Cropper related.
FM assured him that he would ensure he and his family were OK as they discussed MTV Networks for the Caribbean.
FM asked him to be his right hand man and Cropper was all for it as he was excited about the project and he was not fazed by hard work.
“We started to knock heads in the first year...I had a big position at MTV all that you saw the first year that was me. from 06 to 07 yes!!! from after that I don't know.
As time went on things started to go downhill. According to Cropper employees started to lodge complaints against FM as they claimed he has a problem himself when comes to controlling people he needs to do it because he 's so weak as a man...he uses fear and intimidation to control... so in the first year there was an investigation on him by MTV from all the employees for a hostile environment, work place..
“So you see this is a major problem here this man needs to be stopped!!! If the people and government continues to support this man you all will be held responsible for the down fall of it's kids and the people in the Caribbean.
“When I signed up, I thought I was in it to make history and change lives... but when you work for a dictator who wears a collar backwards around his neck, it just becomes an assembly line in a factory. Being a creative person its hard to create goodness out of evil..if you want the best out of creative people you need to make sure that your team is happy in all ways...we would always disagree about that , he wanted me to rule with intimidation, but always I treated the teams with love and respect,” Cropper said.
Things started to hit rock bottom when FM told Cropper that he was a revolutionary and he was a dictator. “We started arguing about his dictatorship. I told him he was the Hitler of the Caribbean. People like this man rise up every so often in the world and they must be stopped. The media is one of the most powerful outlets in the world. As God says, until I am heard throughout the 4 corners of the world, the end will not come. So the enemy is trying to beat God to this, and he comes through people like FM to try and reach the people in taking them astray. They claim to be God but we as a people can see that they are nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing. This is why Tempo gets no love from the people,” Cropper concluded
