Twins of Twins walk free of fraud charges
Dancehall artistes Twins of Twins yesterday (Thursday, July 30) walked free of fraud charges when they appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The two brothers were charged several weeks ago for allegedly defrauding a fellow artiste of more than $50,000.
Allegations are that the complainant paid the brothers the money to assist with the application for a visa.
He went to the police to report that he could not make contact with the dancehall duo.
However defence attorney Christopher Townsend told the court on Thursday morning that the entire matter was a grave misunderstanding.
He said his clients were on tour in the United States and Europe when the complainant was trying to make contact with them.
He said on their return to the country, the money was immediately refunded to the complainant.
Mr. Townsend said because the report was made to the police while the brothers were away, the police had to take action
