Reggae Sumfest honours Beenie Man

Summerfest Productions, the organizers of Reggae Sumfest, have announced plans to honour dancehall artiste Moses “Beenie Man” Davis at this year’s festival.
Although the details have not yet been revealed, the celebration promises to be fitting.
“Beenie Man has grown with us and he’s definitely contributed significantly to the success of the festival over the years,” said executive director, Johnny Gourzong.

Beenie Man is one of the longest running performers in the business and has been with the reggae festival since 1993. He is also one the few performers to have performed on two separate nights in the same festival. In 1997, Beenie Man graced the Sumfest stage on Dancehall Night, and then returned on International Night to deliver another performance, including his hit at the time with Chevelle Franklin, Dancehall Queen.

He began his music career at age five and has since propelled to both local and international acclaim. Beenie Man will perform on Dancehall Night in this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest, July 19 - 25 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
