9th Annual Celebrity Fashion Show
(Carson, CA) Hosted by Comedian LiL JJ, the 9th annual Positive Images of Self Expression (P.I.S.E) fundraiser brings together fashion and philanthropy as entertainers encourage youth to be their best by supporting the Performing Arts School’s vital youth programs.
Positive Images of Self-Expression (P.I.S.E) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 full service performing arts school for inner city youth. Founded by former Alvin Ailey dancer Imani Hayward, and teacher/youth counselor Lanet D. Love, the program is also ran by professional dancer Ms. Myisha Richmond who has worked with well-known choreographers Tony Basil, Marguerite Derricks, Hinton Battle, Dave Scott and Fatima Robinson.
For the past 11 years, P.I.S.E has been foremost in helping inner city youth change their lives through the arts. Their program includes: dance, acting & drum classes, voice lessons, modeling and etiquette. P.I.S.E is a dynamic organization serving children ages 5 to 17 years of age.
The 9th Annual Celebrity Fashion Show will allow the participating youth to showcase the fundamentals learned in the program’s stellar curriculum while raising funds to support their school. Hosted by teen Comedian Lil JJ of Nickelodeon’s Just Jordan., Angela and Vanessa Simmons (Runs House) will be on hand with their Pastry’s Brand as participating fashions featured in the show with other designers, Woven Culture, PISE Couture, Deeply Rooted Apparel, D4G Elegant Faux Furs, Brandi Michelle, as well as other celebrities on hand to show their commitment to the youth program including: gospel sensation Mary Mary, Reggie Hayes (Girlfriends), Dee Dee Davis (Bernie Mac Show), Denyce Lawton (House of Payne), Tatyana Ali, Kyla Pratt (Hotel for Dogs), Model Isaac Sullivan (Sean John), Lil C Note (Heroes), Carla Jeffery (Southland), Raven Godwin (Just Jordan), Trenyce (American Idol) and more to be confirmed.
For the programs directors, the element of dance has grossly impacted their lives and their commitment in teaching the youth to be the best they can be. Passing on her life’s motto, Myisha Richmond instructs the young people by offering, “Whatever is troubling you, dance it out and let God do the rest!”.
The red carpet affair will take place Sunday, June 7th, 2009 at Carson Community Center - 801 E. Carson St, Carson, CA 90745. Festivities begin at 3pm. For more information on the organization and to donate to the school, please visit www.pise.org.
