Jazmine Sullivan, Nas, Junior Gong to rock Sumfest

R&B sensation Jazmine Sullivan, rap music luminary Nas and reggae royalty Damian ‘Jnr Gong' Marley are among the international acts confirmed for the 17th staging of the ‘Greatest Reggae Show on Earth', Reggae Sumfest to be held in Montego Bay from July 19-25



Sullivan is slated to bring her flavour to spice up the Festival's International Night I on Friday, July 24 when Summerfest Productions takes over Catherine Hall in Montego Bay



Summerfest Production’s head honcho, Johnny Gourgonz stated in a release that Sullivan “has been having a phenomenal year on the music scene internationally, and some of her songs are even reggae inspired.”

Jazmine Sullivan is most well known for the songs Bust Your Windows, Need You Bad and Lions, Tigers and Bears, while among Nas’ hits are It Ain’t Hard To Tell, NY State of Mind and his controversial 2006 album,

Hip Hop Is Dead. Grammy winner, Junior Gong, son of reggae icon Bob Marley, is the original Mr Welcome to Jamrock, and has an extensive repertoire of hits.



At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Nas confirmed that that he was collaborating on an album with Junior Gong. It is expected to be released in Spring 2009 and a portion of the profit is planned to go towards building a school in Africa.



The Festival, which starts with a beach party on Sunday July 19 and then has three nights of pulsating live performances from Thursday July 23 to Saturday July 25. Included on the Sumfest line-up are Bounty Killer, Mavado, Etana, Tarrus Riley, Busy Signal, and a host of other local talents.

right now all those acts are stale news. We want Twin of Twins on sumfest this year. I would book my ticket tomorrow to see dem.
