It’s just a rumour
On Saturday, the Asylum Night Club in New Kingston experience a power outage that had some speculating on the real cause. Rumours started flying far and wide that the light was disconnected for non payment of bills.
But not so, says Winsome Callum, head of Corporate Communication and as far as she is concerned, nothing could be further from the truth.
According to Callum who was speaking with the utility com-pany got a call from the nightclub about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday regarding the power outage and dispatched an emergency team that had the matter corrected by 4:30 a.m.
"There was no disconnection," she said. "There was a problem on the (feed) that provided power to the Quad. This resulted in the power going out."
The spokeswoman added that JPS only carries out disconnection during working hours, Monday to Friday.
Marsha Rose, operations manager at Quad, made similar comments, stating it was unheard of for a disconnection to have taken place at 2 a.m. She explained that the club was going on when a main transformer blew out in the parking lot, plunging the club into darkness. She said the JPS was immediately contacted.
