Patrick Johnson charged for ganja Possession
30 year old Patrick Johnson was charged for possession of, dealing in and trafficking ganja in the Corporate Area Magistrates Court on Monday after collecting 150lbs of marijuana.
On January 26, he was stopped by police in the Eleven Miles area of Bull Bay, St. Thomas and his car was searched and a bag of weed was discovered in the trunk.
Johnson explained to Resident Magistrate Glen Brown that he went to the country to pick up the weed for a friend of his father's who was traveling to the Bahamas. The car was a rental borrowed from a friend.
He was sentenced to $15,000 or six months for possession, admonished and discharged for dealing in and fined $200,000 or six months for trafficking ganja. He was also sentenced for 12 months. If his fees are not paid his sentences will run consecutively.
