Jamaican Diaspora in UK urged to be ambassadors

jamaican-diaspora.jpgDuring a recent trip to the World Travel Market in London, Tourism Minister, the Hon. Edmund Bartlett spoke with more than 200 members of the Jamaican community there.

Providing updates on the island’s new developments, the Tourism Chief urged the UK based Jamaican Diaspora to represent their homeland as ambassadors.

Emphasizing the importance of contributing as ambassadors while investing assets in Jamaica, The Minister referred to the involvement of Jamaicans in the UK as crucially significant.

He said, “I recognize that every Jamaican living overseas is integral to the country's survival, especially with the current global economic crisis now affecting everyone. Your assistance in maintaining and creating partnerships between the UK and Jamaica in order to keep the tourism product profitable is very important, especially at this time.”

Jamaica’s High Commissioner to the UK, Mr. Burchell Whiteman and other Tourist Board leaders were in attendance.
