The ‘Nuh Linga’ dance creator, Marlon ‘Ova Marz’ Hardy has been highly overlooked in all the global hype surrounding the moves he concocted. Still, the young dancer and choreographer who hails from Nannyville, Kingston is humbly emerging stronger these days with a positive force and is taking his energetic, creative moves to the world.
Ova Marz is a member of the Ravers Clavers dance crew and he had the immense honour of watching the dance he had developed being broadcast on television live from Beijing, China, as the overjoyed record breaking Usain Bolt put ultra expression in the ‘Nuh Linga’ that is loaded with head, hand and foot movement.
‘Nuh Linga’ has become the most popular dance in the world for 2008, as it was introduced internationally not only at the Olympics but also by Elephant Man and others.
Creator, Ova Marz, who started dancing at the age of 12 – on his own, was inspired by watching ‘Fowla’ who would dance to music from the popular Caveman Sound System at the Market Shed Centre. He would go home and practice steps to perfection, and then perform them in different arenas. At one street dance Ova Marz was recognized as mesmerizing when he tore up the place after being invited in the dancing ring with ‘Ding Dong’ and ‘Fowla’..
More invitations came for Ova Marz to appear in videos like 'Jah Love' by Sabba Toot and dance videos like 'Passa Passa’ vols. 30, 45, 46, 47, 50, 51 & 53 and 'Gabba Sundays Volume 1’.
Mr. Vegas invited the dancer to the studios for his production of a song to the popular new dance that Ova Marz had initiated called, ‘Raging Bull’.
Ova Marz says he respects and has great admiration for all dancers in the business. “Each has their own style,” he said.
Taking his creative steps to the United States, Canada, Antigua and England, the gifted dancer ‘nah linga at all.’
