police.jpgVenet Guthrie otherwise called Judith, a 39 year old Constable who was stationed at the Lucea Police Station in Hanover, Jamaica was shot and killed by a lone gunman, at her home in Kingsvale, Hanover on Friday morning October 17, 2008, while at home with her 19 year old daughter Kaderie Watson.

It is alleged that the gunman who was wearing a mask gained entry to Miss Guthrie's bedroom by prying a window open. He then searched her handbag where he saw her police identification card and her service revolver which the gunman took after fatally shooting the Constable in front of her daughter.

When Yardflex visited the scene yesterday evening, several family members and friends were seen mourning. Guthrie is the 10th police officer to be killed since the start of the year. She has been in the force for well over six years. Prior to that the late office worked at Jockeys Garment Factory in Lucea, Hanover.

I really thought this was an incident abroad when I saw pictures of those police officers. Whatever. But the Government really need to do something about crime in Jamaica, this is getting ridiculous. Where is the law and order and all who think Capital Punishment will solve the problem are idiots. Yes Pastors a yuh mi a talk. Create more jobs, develop the inner cities, help the poor, export more products, build factories to create more jobs, stop depend on other countries for basic necessities you all can easily provide yourself. Develope and invest in the youth because there is so much talent in Jamaica its amazing. Jamaica is too blessed for people to be living in such fear and shame and having crime and violence taking control.
