Students Taking On Prevention

novio.jpgIn light of the recent upsurge of violence against children that has plagued our nation, members of the entertainment fraternity and other concerned citizens have joined forces to launch S.T.O.P.; Students Taking On Prevention. A self funded effort aimed at denouncing violence and bringing about awareness.

The effort will see members of the dancehall community alongside members of the Christian entertainment community, taking part in audio and video clips denouncing violence and pleading with children to be more vigilant. The clips, which will be aired on all local networks, will also provide preventive tips to both children and parents alike.

Although the number is expected swell, involved parties so far include the likes of the Swallowfield All Age Principal and faculty members, (the school Ananda Dean used to attend) Rev. Al Miller, Mrs. Betty Ann Blaine (Head of Hear the Children Cry), dancehall luminaries Buju Banton, Macka Diamond, Lady G, and Merciless, alongside members of the gospel entertainment fraternity such as Ryan Mark, Prodigal, Omari, Goddy Goddy and Papa San.

Audio and video clips will be shot on Saturday October 11th between the hours of 3pm-5:30pm, at Buju Banton’s Studio, 10 Carlisle Ave off Red Hills Road.

I Commend those who have choose to participate in this project especially those from the dancehall community. I would however, love to see the final list, because I dont see any names thus far from the Alliance Crew. I believe they as well as others should head the list of Dancehall members willing to participate in this project. Please dont get it twisted and not to pin point any person or crew in particular I love dancehall and reggae music on a whole. Love Munga Honorable Yeah Yeah. But this is a good thing to support and contribute to. This is Jamaica land we love we should try and preserve it's heritage especially it's youths. I am currently living in the United States and I am still very connected to Jamaica and Jamaican and sometimes very sad to hear of things that keep happening from time to time. Politician your next, some of you are like Wall Street. All you promote is greed and fear in the society especially among poor people.

I too tend to agree with Real, not finger pointing as well but these things need more influencial artists like Beeniman, Bounty Killa, Movado, Cartel etc. I had kids of my own and it is very sad to see how these sick people are turning on the ones who are not able to defend themselves, I wonder if they dont have small brothers, sisters or nieces and nephews. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MOVE I HAVE SEEN HAPPENING IN JAMAICA SINCE THE START OF THE YEAR. Nuff respect to the organisors.
