Papa Bolt had the time of his life
Wellesley Bolt, father for the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt returned to Jamaica on Monday having had the time of his life in Beijing, China.
“I became a celebrity,” he told reporters, as he relayed bits and pieces of his experience. Father Bolt was not entirely enthusiastic about leaving for the long 20 hour trip to China, but has no regrets and actually expressed how extremely pleased he was for having gone.
Bolt senior was urged by Digicel to make the trip and left the island last Tuesday for a journey he described as being beyond anything he had ever envisioned.
He explained that nothing could match his experience of greeting Usain following the 200 meter win.
Decked out in Puma accessories and shoes, Wellesley was tired but beaming with built up energy and full of pride. He brought up Usain’s jiving around after winning that left a bad taste with the International Olympic Committee’s president, Jacques Rogge; saying that his son Usain just had that type of personality. Further, he said that Usain’s diet that included a quart of cows milk daily while growing up, plus his favorite, yam, banana and coco, was what he attributed his son’s stamina to.
Usain is expected to return home in September some time and his mom will be back shortly.
