Capleton's absence angers Beenie Man
Immediately after his "Beenie Sizzle" event Beenie Man told reporters that he was upset that Capleton was absent for the show for which he was billed when he, Beenie had performed so well at Capleton's "A St. Mary Mi Come From" event just days before.
Capleton, having just arrived and overheard Beenie's comments explained that his absence was not meant to disrespect Beenie Man, but that his brother had gone missing and a search party had to be organized to locate him.
Beenie Man apologised for his comments, which he said were made in anger.
Capleton's brother was found stranded along the road. Details of his disappearance are still unknown.

Personally, I think any professionally contracted craftsman should have as his obligation whatever (or whoever) he was contracted to.
Family allegiances coming before that is unprofessionalism, unless Capleton had communicated the circumstances as soon as they became known.
A headline name like Capleton would have attracted lots of people to the event. They would have been disappointed after paying their money and making the journey, hoping to see Capleton, only to be disappointed by his absence.
Maybe a bereavement in the family or something of that order might get more sympathy, but breaking off a contractual obligation to deal with a dubious, non-urgent matter, is grounds for the promoter to sue (and win!) huge amounts of compensation.
This is just reality and not an emotional response...

Hello CeeOh Two,
I can understand where you are coming from, however Capleton and Beenie Man didn't have a written contract. Capleton did go to Beenie Man show he just turned up late because while on his way to the show he was the one who found his brother.
Beenie Man knew that Capleton was on his way, but he was still mad because when Capleton arrived the police lock off the show.
And another thing for your information, Capleton was just returning a favor to Beenie Man it wasn't a monetary thing. Beenie knows that Capleton is a man of his word and whichever artiste invites him to their show he always turns up.
In 2006 Capleton was on his US tour and skip a day and flew to Jamaica for Beenie show and then had to turn around a take the next flight back to the States to continue his tour.
Everything is ok between them they have no rivalry. Beenie did apologize over and over again saying he was sorry for going on the air with his foolishness!!

Jamaican media must start to behave in a responsible manner. By publishing such a trivial story, yardflex you are acting in an irresponsible manner. There are thousands of other important and deserving stories that need your help publicizing.By publishing negative stories about the relationships amongst artistes ,the media contributes to hostilities amongst fans of artistes and amongst artistes. These hostilities tend to further extended into personal abuse and physical altercations amongst fans and the artistes themselves. Which in turn tarnishes the image of one of Jamaica internationally recognized product, Dance hall music. Dance hall music has now taken on the international recognition that reggae music (cultural type) has assumed. Dance hall music has impacted the four corners of the world ( if there is only four corners of the world.)
Usain Bolt, the world fastest man
has added one more promotion to Dance hall Music by doing the Nu lya, after winning the
100 meters and 200 meter in world record time.
I know that you are an entertainment newspaper, but that does not give the right to abdicate your responsibility of responsible journalism. Take the international promotion that Usain Bolt has added to the recognition of Dance hall
music and publicize such story in hope of letting the artistes and fans that Dance hall music
have reach new height.
