Cross Roads Building to be Demolished

desmond-mckenzie_hitlist.jpgThe tenants of a building located at the corner of Caledonia Road, Cross Roads expressed shock upon hearing that they have five days, which ended yesterday, to vacate the premises, as the building which is built over a gully will be demolished.

The mayor of Kingston Desmond McKenzie served demolition notice to the owner, but, according to the tenants who operate small businesses from the location, the owner has been collecting their rent while informing them of nothing.

One woman said that she was unaware of the circumstances until she saw the news.

Mayor McKenzie said that, over the past four and a half years, the owner has been served with notices to demolish the building, but has failed to acknowledge the notices.

A bartender commented that she was not sorry for the owner, "...him out of order, him should notify the people, I don't sorry fi him."
