Jamaican forward, Luton Shelton, registered a first half hat-trick in eight minutes to propel the Reggae Boyz to a comfortable 6-0 victory over The Bahamas, in their return leg CONCACAF second round qualifying match, at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on Wednesday. This feat was witnessed by a fair size crowd of spectators.
Added to the 7-0 drubbing in the first leg on Sunday, Jamaica advanced to the semi-final phase of the qualifying series with a 13-0 aggregate margin.

The Reggae Boyz now joins Honduras and awaits Mexico and Canada who holds 2-0 and 3-0 advantages over Belize and St Vincent and The Grenadines respectively.

The other goal scorers for Jamaica were Deon Burton in the 30th and 56th minute and Tyrone Marshall in the 40th.

This was the first international football match played at this venue which was built to host the Opening Ceremony for last year's ICC Cricket World Cup.
I like the way you title the article with the word "Jamaica" instead of "Reggae Boyz." For the longest while, I as a Jamaican patriot and football fan have felt insulted by the term "Reggae Boyz." I think it's full time we return to calling the team the "Jamaica National Football Team," or simply "Jamaica." The term "Reggae Boyz" is a fading fad that should be used sparingly (if at all) in reference to the original glory team of '98, that created a frenzy and took Jamaica to its historic first World Cup Finals. Apart from that, I think it's disrespectful to Jamaica to continually referring to the football team by a nickname instead of the name of the country they are representing. They are not representing "reggae" they are representing "Jamaica," and the "Jamaica" brand is far greater and more meaningful to national pride and unity, and should therefore take precedence over any and all nickname brands.
I challenge all sport journalists and bloggers to ignite the flame of patriotism in the hearts and minds of Jamaican football fans everywhere, by calling the national football team "JAMAICA" and "JAMAICA" alone. All other names are trivial nonsense and should be treated with disregard. This is not a circus football club. This is team JAMAICA.
Go JAMAICA! Qualify for World Cup 2010!
