New internet gospel station coming

By: Joan Wilson

delsmall.jpgFormer Love FM disc jockey Delroy Lingo who is now based in Connecticut will be launching an Internet Gospel station called Gospel Vybz and that mission will be the fulfillment of a dream for the radio jock.

Delingo who had a one on one with YardFlex shared that while being on air in Connecticut he was frustrated by lack of outlet for the traditional Caribbean gospel. And it was there that the dream was laid on his heart to create a station that would be the avenue to play those kinds of songs.

So five years ago he started buying the essential equipment he would need, now he is in sight of that vision.

Later on this month in at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Portmore he will be officially launching the Internet site. "The internet gospel station will be streaming live gospel shows, church services and playing your favourite traditional gospel music along with the modern ones," Delingo as he is popular called in the gospel arena told YardFlex.

Delingo, has been involved in the gospel music fraternity for over 30 years. He was Road Manager for the Golden Touch Gospel Band for several years, he later joined Life Production Company as concert manager, and assistant producer; a position that allowed him to work closely with local and international artistes.

In 1999, Delingo migrated to Atlanta, Georgia to host the first ever Caribbean Gospel Music programme Gospel Vibes on WATB 1420 Caribbean JAMS. The programme helped in opening the e door for Caribbean artiste such as Papa San, Grace Thrillers, Junior Tucker and Blood Brothers to perform in Atlanta.

The following year Delingo move to Hartford Connecticut and continued his radio ministry with Father G as co-host of Wake Up and Live on WESU 88.1 FM. He now hosts his own show Gospel Vybz.

Thanks Delroy for being an inspiration in setting up your own internet station after many years on mainstream radio.

It's always positive to see Caribbean radio personalities branching out and doing their own thing like setting up their own businesses.

I look forward to checking out your internet station online in the future and wish you God's richest blessings in your new venture.
