cown.jpgJody-Ann Wallace, 18-year-old Mannings High School student, is Miss Jamaica Global.

She copped various prizes, including an all-expense paid trip to London, a trip for two to the United States or any Caribbean destination of her choice as well as jewelery, courtesy of Rainbow Souvenirs, among others.

Interestingly, Wallace did not produce a top 10 talent piece, however, her poise and the confidence she exuded on the night gave her the edge.

On a night when third-place winner Natasha Brown was a big crowd favourite, she asserted, "I need to be number one in every area." As such, she was dominant in all other categories. "I like to think positively," she told reporters, adding, "I thought to myself, I'm gonna do my best to win. After the final five questions, I felt very confident that I'd make it into the top three."

She is now focussing on the international pageant to be held in London at the Watford Coliseum on August 10. Referring to that competition, she said: "I'm confident that I will represent my country well. I am going to give it my best."

Third-place winner Natasha Brown also walked away with the prize for most talented, while second-place winner Jodane Russell was named most aware.

Miss Global Jamaica will compete against at least 35 women from across the world.
