Monopoly NCN Radio Bans Bounty Killer & Mavado Songs
Capitol News reported yesterday evening that monopoly NCN radio has taken the decision to ban the music of Bounty Killer and Mavado from their airwaves.
According to a report carried on livinguyana.blogspot.com the move follows the government banning the two Jamaican dancehall artistes from traveling to Guyana to perform or for any other purpose. On air presenters were informed of the move late yesterday afternoon.
This is a natural move following the banning of the artistes from Guyana. Mavado was slated to perform alongside Lady Saw at the Linden Town Week this weekend but since his ban has been replaced by the self proclaimed dancehall king Beenie Man.

If more countries and radio stations take steps like these, then Jamaican artists would have no other choice than to clean up their acts.

It is hypocrical for you, to ban what the ears hear and not what the eyes see. Reggae music is coming under attack and no one is speaking out.
NCN stop the bull sh-- you people are violating the artist civil rights of freedom of speech.

Ok dis is definitely a harsh step but they have their reasons 4 doin this and the people have no hold on what their government decides its too much but the people of guyana has no hold on dat I was made to understand dat the government is tryin to punish the black people cuz they would never do dat to east indian artistes

Reggae music is not under any attack, make a clear distinction. Anybody ever heard of Morgan Heritage, Luciano, Black Uhuru or the countless other reggae artistes out there banned from anywhere, NO. Filthy Dancehall music is what is under attack. Quite frankly, I couldn't care less who gets banned or not, these fools need to know they are irrelevant to the rest of the world. Their music is not contributing anything to Jamaica or the World and when they die who will remember them, do you think they will get any National award for their contributiuons to the Island's cultural landscape? Please.

stop blaming the artist, Guyana is messed up because of the government and people attitudes but they want to blame on the Jamaican artist, I don't remember either bounty killer or Mavado telling any Guyanese to go massacre 27 innocent people, is it that their words are too close to the reality the people are living. Music is powerful but it is not a scape goat for your problems time to blaming others and take responsibility for yourselves

Incognito i don't like the way your talking is people like you ghetto people grouge dancehall is ghetto music which most of the population is living is Mavado, Bounty, Busy, Kartel, Sizzla and others dem ah chant for is dem singing all over di golbe and your biased i don't see reggae doing the same to clean up di country, music should not be responsible for bettering the goverment should, but no goverment is bribing rich people who have it already while no money is helping the rest of us so jus gweh and cool yourself.

In Guyana east indian artistses do get banned as well. The government radio station has banned D'Hitman (chutney artist) big song Firewater, which glorifies and promotes rum. The song is a big chutney song yet they have him banned from the airwaves.

I agree with Freedom of Speech. The music is under attack. I like the way you said it. Hypocrisy and the demonization of black peoples cultural expression is driving this ban.
