edit_jamaica_flag_large_1.jpgAfter several grueling rounds of elimination, the ten finalists that will compete in the 2008 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Gospel Song Competition have been selected. Over three hundred aspiring gospel artists auditioned in Kingston, St. Catherine, Manchester, St. Mary and St. James, all with original entries.

The JCDC then invited those participants with completely original songs to participate in an elimination round. From the elimination round, 25 semi finalists were selected and invited to compete in a private session for a spot in the finals.

All ten finalists hailing from the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Thomas, St. Catherine, St. Ann and Manchester will now move on to working with some of Jamaica's top gospel producers on a compilation album that will be released before the final competition.

They will also participate in Gospel Vibe a television reality based series that premiered last year. The public will get a chance to see the finalist before the finals, as they will tour the island throughout the month of June.
