Tomorrow at Western Consciousness little Choc'late Allen will be one of the featured performers on the show and it is something she is more than looking forward to. In giving a 'sneak peak' on her performance she told YardFlex, "I will be embodying the theme of the show "Good over Evil" as the message that I spread in song and the word is in synergy with the ideals of the event."
For her it's a great honour and privilege to be performing with so many reggae stalwarts in light of the fact that she is coming from an island (Trinidad) which is noted for calypso.
Coming from a family that is heavily involved with music, it was no surprise when Choc'late herself wanted to follow that same path. As she says "I was inspired to be a performer by looking at my father on stage and traveling with him overseas. I loved the music, the excitement that it generates and it comes as natural to me as talking."
Born into a musical family on June 19, 1993 to Trinidadian parents Kurt and Fabienne Allen, Choc'late from a very early age always displayed that she was destined for greatness. She along with the constant support and encouragement from her parents has most definitely identified her multiple geniuses. This talented, self confident, intelligent, selfless, compassionate, highly motivated and loving individual at the age of fourteen is already being referred to as a child activist.
Choc'late did her first recording at the age of five, a remake of 'Past De Dutchie' performed by 'Musical Youth'. This song went to number one on the Heat Music Charts and a Radio Station Chart in Ottawa, Canada. She has performed in Trinidad and Tobago, throughout the Caribbean with the Windiez music band and with her very own group "Hott Bakez and Choc'late".
She has starred in her own music video and also hosted and performed for the Cable Television Music VIDEO programme called 'We Be Clubbing' which broadcasted throughout the Caribbean and North America on the CVN network. She has also toured the Caribbean performing with Caribbean Vizion and hosted her own television and radio programmes in several CARICOM States.
Currently Choc'late is in the recording studio as part of Flames Production family set to release a single. She is also doing a collaboration with Queen Ifrica.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, other acts billed to perform are Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Mykal Rose, Richie Spice and Dez I to name a few.
