Legendary Reggae songbird and former member of the Bob Marley led I-Threes, Marcia Griffiths has scored with a number one hit song in the United States of America.
YardFlex made the discovery whilst interviewing Marcia via telephone at her home in Jamaica. In the current Jamaican music industry where Dancehall and its artists appear to rule all local charts, the work of the stars from the past often goes virtually un-noticed.
Nevertheless, Marcia Griffiths has scored with "I Told You So," on the South Florida Reggae Chart in Miami. She added that the song also peaked at number two on the New York Reggae Chart.
"The song is a love song, which tells the tale of a woman, who after leaving her unappreciative ex-partner, is now telling him that she had warned him that she would somehow find the strength to move on," Marcia explained.
In related news, she is currently working on an album titled, "Marcia and Friends," which will feature many of the contemporary Dancehall era's biggest stars. "I appreciate everybody in the [reggae] music, despite the message in some of the music being released, the fact still remains, these youngsters do have tremendous talent."
