PETA sends Beyoncé a wedding gift
Animal rights group PETA has sent Beyoncé Knowles a fake fur throw as a wedding present.
The singer tied the knot with rapper Jay-Z last week and the group gave her the fashion item in the hope that it will change her attitude towards wearing fur.
According to digital spy.com, a statement from the group read: "From all of us at PETA, we wish you much happiness in your life together. Please accept this faux-fur throw with many good wishes and a hope from us that together, you'll be a fur-free couple!"
Beyoncé was previously attacked by PETA for wearing a mink coat to the premiere of The Pink Panther. The group had also tried to force her to watch a video of an animal being skinned.
PETA Vice President Lisa Lange said: "Celebrities know that the easiest way to keep PETA off their backs is by keeping fur off their backs. Time will tell if Beyoncé is truly committed to being fur-free."

i think this is a real opportunity for beyonce to do a world of good. she's a role model whether or not she wants to be. people will equate her actions with class and elegance. kudos to PETA for taking this approach.
i never thought i'd be the "tree-hugger" type but the more i look at it the more it seems like we have to start taking steps now to make sure our great-great-grans will be able to see things like real stars and a giraffe outside of a zoo. we need to treat our envoronment and other living creatures the way we would want to be treated -- with basic consideration if not love. but then again most people cant figure out how to treat other PEOPLE the way they would want to be treated so, really, who knows what's going to happen.
anyway, i'm getting off the soapbox now...

So if gay rights groups send videos of two men, or two women doing it, or even getting married, she is to accept thier lifestyle?, if vegetarians want to show her how a cow, or chicken is cut up and slaughtered, she should stop eating meat?, and if George Bush wants to show a video tape to her of the terrorist attacks in other countries, she should vie for Mr. Bush? come on people, this is unfair. Beyonce must know what she wants to do, and nobody should be forced to accept, or conform to someone elses believes of how thier life should be, ie. not wearing fur because it comes from animals. I bet those same people from PETA, enjoy a juicy beef burger, or pigs feet once in a while. This world is full of hypocrites. If you want changes, then change yourself, if Beyonce chooses to follow, let it be an internal choice, not one coerced from a video depicting animal skinning. Regardless of PETA's opinion, it's still a free country, and if some of them could afford her mink, they would probably buy it too!!

...? who said anything about coersion? beyonce is a big celebrity and a grown woman; i sincerely hope she's not having anxiety attacks wringing her hands saying "oh my god they're pressuring me, what am i going to do?!" over one little piece of faux fur. if she chose to wear it, who's to say she wasn't convinced instead of corerced? there is a logical fallacy called slippery slope and it doesnt apply here. if a person does one thing it does not mean they'll all of a sudden have to do everything or even consider anything else. if in other aspects of life everbody did not one thing cause they knew they couldnt do every single thing ... well needless to say paralysis does not equal progress. the faux fur is simply a gift that represents an idea. i happen to think it's a nice idea. of all the things beyonce could do, i hope she wears the fake mink to an event where there are a lot of photographers. as for what anybody can and cant afford -- so what? money cant buy class or compassion. those are internal, too.

I would send it right back and tell them that tomorrow I would be buying two more fur coats just for them. I understand where they are coming from but I would let them know they are not going to be bullying me and their sarcasm wouldn't cut it with me.

how is it bullying or forcing? I don't get that. They gave her a gift. and how is it anything like sending videos of two men or whatever, as if theres anything wrong with being anti-fur?

The only way I can understand this act by PETA is if the animal is a member of an endangered species... other than that F*#K PETA. I agree with giving some animals consideration but people are going over board now seeing that here in America a chihuahua (chiwawa) and shih tzu (Shitzoo) have more rights than a fetus.
