CEO of the now defunct Cash Plus Limited in boiling hot water

carlos hill2.jpgCarlos Hill's informal investment scheme – Cash Plus - has been under investigation for some time for fraudulent activities and he was arrested along with his brother, Bertram Hill on April 10, following a police raid of his chic St. Andrew residence in Norbrook.

On that day police conducted nine raids in upscale areas of Kingston, in their attempt to glean information needed to lay formal charges on a group that has left its investors high and dry.

A court appointed Receiver General reported that the company was broke on April 9, 2008; triggering the police action.

Hill had been promising to resume payments of monthly returns for some time now and investors who were expecting their payouts on March 31 were again asked to wait until April 14 by the late CEO and suspected swindler.

Held in custody while awaiting questioning by police, a frustrated Hill fought for his immediate release, according to former lawyer Hugh Thompson.

Why are u blaming NCB for your mistakes. Would you give a person that is a known thief your life savings to invest? No. So why are you defending Carlos Hill. He was convicted for embezzlement in the U.S. and came to Jamaica to do it again. Jamaica is the only country in the world that would give a known swindler billions of dollars to invest because they want quick money. If you ask how he is paying such high interest? ohh, he is buying businesses and buildings. If it was that easy to make 120% a year everybody would be doing it. Carlos Hill said many times that he did not trade Forex and never once in all his speeches did he explain convincingly how he was making the 10% a month. You need to accept that you were fooled by a brilliant Conman, the only thing I rate Carlos Hill for. He should have run for prime minister rather than tek people money because I don't know anybody that could turn so many people into idiot.

RE: who fool u…I agree with you 100%. The JA people followed Carlos Hill as if he was Moses leading the children of Israel to the promise land. I heard that some people sold their homes, cars and cleared out their bank accounts. Carlos Hill is a mastermind criminal who carefully planned to take advantage of Jamaica. From the start, no one received any official documentation stating how funds were invested. You could not look at the company’s financial statements to see if they were in good standing. The investors did not bothered to ask probing questions because all they cared about was receiving 10% every month. When Carlos Hill gave his speech about how he invested in various businesses, he was talking to the people as if they were a bunch of idiots. He knew that all he had to do was sound good and they would follow him. The funny thing is, there are still people who strongly back him 100% and blame the banks and the regulators for the crash. I don’t know whether I should say these investors were just naïve or licky licky! Now the investigators can’t find the money, it disappeared like magic. The money is probably sitting in some bank account in Timbuktu.

Who fool u, please make your comments based on what I wrote and not your baseless assumptions. Nowhere in my comments did I say I participated in Cash plus, thank you very much. So no, mi money in di bank and other secured investments. I do not know ANYBODY personally who participated in Cashplus, but mi see the situation as it is. NCB and the FTC did launch a character assassination on the man and destroyed his business. If he did not do Forex then so what, was he found to be trading in the illegal arms trade or drugs, what criminal entity has he been linked to? I understand why people take their money and put in Cashplus, I understand how someone who is poor and just scraping by, may want to make some money, so I don't blame them, because all the investors were receivign their interest until teh FTC and NCB intervene. If Cashplus had dissolved of its own implosion then my statements would be different, but it was destroyed by external forces. Michael Lee-Chin wants to be the only Bull in di pen obviously.
