Nesbeth climbing to the top
By: Joseph Cunningham

Nesbeth has high hopes of becoming the next superstar, and, he has the talent to make the transition. Like many successful DJs, Nesbeth was born and raised in humble upbringings. Gloria Wright and Neville Nesbeth had a son they christened Greg. Due to economic hardships young Greg was forced to leave his Arnett Gardens home to live with relatives in Waterhouse and then Maxfield Avenue. Each move meant a new school and a new set of hardships.
Despite the lack of stability in his family life, young Greg was able to find and maintain an interest in music. He was encouraged by his friends to take music seriously and pursue it as a career. In 1992, Greg took on the stage name Nesbeth and made his Debut Performance at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre where he was well received.
Nesbeth recorded his first single "Reflection of Love" with a singer named Samaria in 1993, starting his professional career in earnest. Jack Scorpio, King Jammys and Shocking Vibes are just a few of the labels he has graced in his career.
His music covers a broad spectrum of subject areas, but he admits that those that address adversity are closest to his heart. This is evident in tracks such as "Sad Situation" featuring Beenie Man, "Only God Knows Why," "One Life to Live" and "So Let It Be," on the Golden Bathtub Riddim as well as his current track "Tears Falling," on the Emotion Riddim produced by Nesbeth and Rising Sun Production.
He has performed extensively, making appearances at a number of shows in Jamaica such as Teen Splash, Bob Marley's Birthday Bash, Sting 2005 and The Jamaica Peace Day Concert both in 2005 and 2006. He has also performed overseas in Antigua, St Kitts, Atlanta, and New York.
With enormous amounts of energy, Nesbeth delivers each performance and this helped him sweep the Big Stone Talent Show at the Doctor Bird Night club in 1999. At the end of the night Nesbeth walked away with the Best Dressed, Best Performance and Most Disciplined Awards. With the well laid foundation in the business Nesbeth hopes to achieve success through the four D's: Discipline, Determination, Dedication, and Desire.
He draws inspiration from artists like Beenie Man, Lauren Hill and all the performers who have paid their dues before him.
Currently Nesbeth has the following popular songs on rotation: "Board House," "Gun Rise" and the most current, "Friend Killa." Stay tuned to Nesbeth who has begun releasing hits in succession.
