Cedella Marley Booker...may your soul rest in peace

motherbooker_died.jpg

YardFlex would like to send our condolences to the Marley family who just lost Mother Booker. The mother of reggae icon Bob Marley. She died at her home in South Miami.

We at this time, would like to let the Marley family know that they are in our deepest thoughts and prayers.

Cedella Marley Booker born July 1926, has died at the age of 82. Cedella, the mother of the late Reggae musician Bob Marley, died on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 in Miami, Florida.

Booker was born Cedella Malcolm in Rhoden Hall, St. Anne, Jamaica to Omeriah Malcolm and Alberta Willoughby. Booker married Norval Sinclair Marley, a white Jamaican of English ancestry, when she was 18. Norval Marley was a Marine officer and captain, as well as a plantation overseer. He provided financial support for his wife and child but seldom saw them, as he was often away on trips. Bob was ten years old when Norval died of a heart attack in 1955 at age 60. Cedella and Bob then moved to the Trench Town in Kingston.

Booker later remarried an American man and moved to Delaware, USA. She passed away at 82 years old in Miami, Florida on Tuesday April 8th, 2008. Cedella Marley Booker has written two books about her son.

R.I.P always, its so sad to have a loved one go on to the next side..
I read her book a few years ago and was touched by her story and love for her family,

Posted by: germaicangirl on April 9, 2008 05:16 AM

you all need to change the headline, her name is Cedella Marley-Booker (nee Malcolm) not Booker Marley. I am thinking that was just a typo error though. just sayin

Ms. B returns home to Zion and joins her sons, Nesta and Anthony. Her laughter and song will be missed; her wisdom and courage will inspire. She was a pleasure on earth and will be an even greater pleasure in Zion. Love and strength to her beloved family and friends. Remember her smile...and every little thing will be all right...
