Mikey Dread passed away this evening
According to the West Indian Times, Michael 'Mikey Dread' Campbell who was always 'The Dread At The Control' has passed away. Mikey passed away at approximately 6:50pm Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, March 15th, 2008. He was surrounded by his family in the home of his sister in Connecticut at the time of his passing. We had reported in October 2007 that Mikey had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and that he was fighting with all his might to recover from his illness. Mikey constantly remained upbeat and hopeful for a full recovery so that he could continue doing what he loved; spreading Jah music to the world. Mikey's family including his children; 2 sons from Jamaica, a daughter who lives in Houston, TX, a son who lives in Canada, a daughter who lives in Belize, and his 4 month old son Zylen Jahlight had been close by in the last few months as he fought to stay with them.
We will keep you updated as service arrangements are made.
We at YardFlex sends our deep condolence to the family and friends of Mikey Dread. His passing is a great loss to the music industry and the world itself. He will be sadly missed by all. Mikey, may your soul rest in eternal peace.

R.I.P mikey, thats one ting we cant escape, you lived a good and honest life, you fed your family and serve your king well and now you shall be with him. My grandma always say when a person die we should be happy because there gone out of this world of misery, confusion, wicked and heathens and when a person is born we should be sad and cry because we dont know what there coming in this world to be. R.I.P GRANNY 06/06/1912-09/10/07. MORE LIFE AND PROSPERITY

When I found out about his passing, I realized what it felt like to be an Elvis fan in 77. Rest in peace, Mr Campbell. You will never be forgotten.
