Top Reggae Producers name best message tunes

By: Joseph Cunningham

robbie_shakespeare.jpgFollowing on the heels of Sly Dunbar's selections, we continue to highlight the greatest social commentaries in Dancehall history, selected by some of Jamaica's greatest producers.

Today the selections are made by Robbie Shakespear, and his list includes:

Equal Rights and Justice- Peter Tosh.
This is a song appealing for a balance in favour from the state especially, to all people regardless of the social stratification.

African- Peter Tosh
A call to self pride.

Pick Myself Up- Peter Tosh
This song teaches the type of determination needed to withstand the ills of today's global society.

Revolution- Dennis Brown
A call for a change in mindset, to a higher more positive outlook.

Concrete Jungle- Bob Marley
This song highlighted just how tough it can be achieve dreams and
aspirations, when negative forces are like thorns, choking your dreams as it begins to blossom.

Dennis Brown- No Man Is An Island
United we stand, and divided we fall.

I cannot believe that Movado, with his slew of gun tunes, did not make the cut?

He has inspired countless young people to fire two inna de air!!

Fyah if the tunes he's played help shaped reggae then i cant see why he shouldnt mention them. If you are at the top of the game what should you worry about who's playing catch up!!!!!
