EME special nods for Alicia Keys & Akon
By: Joseph Cunningham
Akon and Alicia Keys will be honoured for their continued support of reggae music, at the fourth staging of the Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards on February 7.
Among the 25 categories in the EME Awards is one called International Friends of Reggae, and the organizers have announced that Akon and Keys have been selected as this year's recipients.
It is known that both musicians are fans of Reggae music. Recent proof has been Alicia Keys' performance at the American Music Awards (AMA) when she collaborated voluntarily with Reggae artistes, Junior Reid, Chakademus and Pliers and Beenie Man.
Akon has made Reggae music a major alternative for himself, having worked with numerous Reggae artistes. He has many Jamaican fans garnered from frequent visits to Jamaica.
Akon recently completed a collaboration with Shaggy, titled, "What's Love," and is working with female Reggae singer, Tami Chynn, on her upcoming album. Akon is reportedly producing some of the tracks.
