It's Fyakin time
By: Elizabeth Smith
Gordon Town in St. Andrew, Jamaica was buzzing with activity recently as the video shoot for Fyakin's hit, "You Are My Lady" brought part of the town to life. Directed by the talented, Asha, the clip will be set for broadcast in a few weeks.
The release is widely anticipated, as Fyakin has recently become a household name with the Solar Records produced, "You Are My Lady" getting good airplay. In fact the song has gained much popularity and lead lady of the video admits she was sold from the first time she heard the track.
Princess Menen, known for her song, "Listen To Me Sing" said, "When I was in New York, I briefly met Fyakin and he gave me a copy of his CD. When I got in my car, I put it in my CD player and "You Are My Lady" was the first track that played. For weeks, it was the only song I listened to in my car...I had to be in his video when he asked."
Refined yet raw connotes a quality of naturally having it together – of really being chiselled to near perfection from birth. This is how 19 year old Fyakin's music is being described; as he brings to the reggae music table an almost perfect blend of straightforward lyrics and outstanding delivery.
A Fearless Records artist, Fyakin who hails from Portmore, St Catherine is ready to raise the reggae roof with his sound that is comparable to creations by seasoned reggae veterans.
"You Are My Lady" is on the "Cloud Nine" rhythm that also features songs by Gyptian, Bascom X, Turbulence as well as a collaboration with Shabba Ranks, Sean Paul and Erup.
