Mavado Gone gospel?

mavado_pic.jpgRadio stations in Jamaica couldn't get enough of Mavado's "Jehovah Guide Me" on Wednesday when it was released for airplay there.

Said to have gone gospel with this one, the single is one of three new releases that have Mavado racing into the new year at high speed. "Money Changer" was recorded for Shane Brown and "Mi Henessey" for SSMG.

The hot "Jehovah Guide Me" comes at a time when controversy surrounds the dancehall leader. Its balanced blend of choir harmonies coupled with lyrics that refer to the police and army invading his party contrast well with his pronounced appeal for the cessation of violence in the country.

Produced by Baby G, the stand-out track is an adaptation of the Gospel version and Mavado spices it up with his unique vocal style, carving out another anthem.

Mavado's Little X produced video clip for the single, "Last Night" will have its Jamaican premier in two weeks and "Jehovah Guide Me" will have a video to match shortly.

"Mavado is legend in the making" - if the man spend some time making the songs deeper and move away from the gun and negativity in dancehall Jamaica can not hold u. Sting a small thing compared to what your style and voice can.

If sing song like "amazing grace shot fly through face, or bullet bore bore him up then mi lean him up innna the corna meck him leak out and look like a suck out bag juice and the whole perversion of the gospel songs is really getting ridiculously annoying......is time we force these artistes to come up wid some fun lyrics and stop meck them re-enap movies scene. Let it also be known that them man yah a mi artiste but from whe day mi stop pree dem. Change up the thing fi the yutes, please mi a beg unu

Yo Movado is literally the baddest ting on the dancehall scene right now, literally,is like d man fall out of the sky,and start make music fi touch earthly people, but i have to agree wit,
Badda on January 18, 2008 10:38 AM,if Movado focus on more positive lyrics, then trust me,Jamaican and the whole caribbean will not b able to hold Movado, cuz he will be too big,and i also have 2 agree wit tijado on January 19, 2008 06:07 AM,some of the songs where Movado and company sing will literally contribute to violence, cuz music is powerful, influential and persuasive. All how i analyse d situation there is no excuse an artist can give to justify the violent lyrics in their songs no reason at all,cuz even though violence, was there b4 they sang their song, they are jus fueling a fire,it surely isnt putting that fire out,cuz fans respect their artists and take their artists as roll models, and yes every man has "a mind of his own"but some of these young utes growing up they are still developing "a mind of their own"and they will surely b influenced by what they SEE and HEAR,and movado is my main concern cuz he is such a gd artist, and if he jus goes more positive in his song, doing major collaborations,he can go down like one of the greats like Bob Marley or even greater, look how sizzla wasted the possibility of Supreme Legendary status by singing those songs wit these lyrics, and now i dont even know if sizzla will ever b as gr8 as Bob Marley when he had that potential and more,Thats why i would wish to see Movado become a Gangsta for Positive vibes or something of that sort, and if Movado changes and makes that transition im sure noff utes will take example from that, dont ask if other artists did the same, trust me Jamaica and the rest of the caribbean, would see a change,Remeber Bounty himself said it in his song:
Remember good good sizzla who rise to di top
wit Black Woman & Child and some tunes like dat
How di ute powerful make "DI CRIME RATE DROP"

Lucianstar...well said mi breddren...As a clinician I know the effect of words and moreso music it evokes different emotions in us...why do u think they use certain tones or music in marketing products, at games, in documentaries, political meetings and even church...some of the most influential individuals were great communicaters, people like Dr king, Malcolm X and others inspired us with their words and as a result changed the landscape of this world...God created this world wth words and research shows that even positive self talk and positive affirmations from others can bring about astounding effects on ones psychological and physiological state...If these DJs understood how powerful their words were they would put more effort into their lyrical content.....they need to clean up their act aand remember that their influence is far reaching.....Nuff said.
