Buju wheel and come again with "Inna Heights"

By: Joan Wilson

buju_banton.jpgGood music can never die...like good wine it gets better with age and after 10 years since the release of the Buju Banton VP produced album "Inna Heights" the album will be enjoying a re-release. Of course there will be a little 'brawta' on it and that is 3 previously unreleased tracks and a bonus DVD of live footage...what more could any Buju Banton fan ask for!

Inner Heights is already available for digital download and will be in stores on Tuesday.

YardFlex rapped with the gargamel himself on the 10 anniversary re-release and as he says, "The songs were potent 10 years ago and I don’t see why we should recreate it."

Why not indeed as the tracks speaks reality and the hard-hitting social commentary of 10 years ago is still very much relevant now. The timeless message that comes across in the prolific tracks such as
"Hills and Valley," "Cry No More," "Mother's Cry" and "Single Parent" will linger in the annals of dancehall for a long time.

Considering the longevity of these tracks YardFlex couldn't help but ask the Gargamel his opinion on the trend dancehall has now taken.

"To be frank, I don't really think about what's happening too tough. It's just a fad, it comes and it goes...if it catch my ears then..." was the cryptic comment.

"Inna Height" album is one that every musical collector should have as it's one that captures the true essence of live as we know it in Jamaica. If you missed it the first time around, make sure you crab it now...with the added perks!

Digitally-remastered, the Inna Heights - 10th Anniversary Edition boasts 3 previously unreleased tracks from the time period: "Bad Boy," "Politics Time Again" and "Situations" featuring Morgan Heritage.

The 2 Disc Deluxe package also includes a Bonus DVD containing 40 minutes of live footage from Reggae Sumfest, circa 1996, and the accompanying music video for the smash single "Destiny."

Presently Buju Banton is putting the finishing touch on his latest project the Gargamel Music produced album "Rasta Got Soul."

As he says, "we have to do some work to keep the dancehall community satisfied."

buju should be appointed a UN goodwill ambasador because of his positive vibes and real life issues he sings about in his music. in africa he is probably jamaica's biggest export after bob marley. he is probably the one jamaican artist who has inspired most aspiring and upcoming reggae artists and in my native uganda he will never be forgotten for the 1997 show he staged, the equipment brought in by the organisers were'nt great but because it was buju performing people just couldnt get enough of him never mind the fact that the sound quality was not so good. he will forever be a legend to his fans in africa.
