Carnival time again!

By: Joseph Cunningham

Carnival.jpgIt's carnival time again, and as soon as this Friday, revelers will flock to Mas Camp in New Kingston, Jamaica for the soca vibe. "Mas Camp Village will be opened on January 18," declared Bacchanal Jamaica executive Michael Ammar, during the launch of Bacchanal Dreams held at the Knutsford Court Hotel last Thursday. He added that Bacchanal Jamaica will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and plans to make this year's staging a "field of dreams."

"Carnival 2008 will be extra special. What began as a simple idea of bringing Trinidad carnival to Jamaica by a few good friends one Sunday morning in 1989 has become what they describe as their dream come
true," Ammar said.

Ticket prices for the fetes will remain at the 2007 price. According Ammar this year's staging will feature seven costumes: Illusions, Dreamscape, Trance, Delirious, Indulge, Mirage and DreamCatcher, and, the audience was given a costume display of both male and female outfits. Bacchanal Jamaica will stage Bacchanal Beach Jouv'ert on March 22, Soca @ De Sandbar on March 26 before the big road parade on March 30 themed Nightmare.

This is a damn shame..."as soon as this Friday, revelers will flock to Mas Camp in New Kingston, Jamaica for the soca vibe"

This is directly against what the Bible says.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, ...
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, REVELLINGS, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Revellings or unrestrained parties such as these are not supposed to exist. And if I am not mistaken, that whole Bacchanal thing is idolatry, going back to Bacchus the greek god of wine and intoxication. People really need to realize what they are getting involved with before they go follow some "tradition" because it can keep you out of the kingdom of heaven.

I do not dispute the wisdom of your "quote" Mark, but I wonder. The children who manifest out of these "fornications", are they unclean? Tainted? Or even cursed? For out of what seems to be unclean comes new life which obviously had to willed by the father. The kingdom of God lies within. Where else can it be. In Space? The same love that is given the supposed "do gooders" is the same love that is given to the judged "sinners". God has allowed its existance, why can't we?
