Did any of you read this? Americans don't know who Mavado, Demarco, Alborosie, Taurus Riley or 99% of reggae artists are. They get no sales/itunes/radio play in the USA outside of Miami and NY.
If you want to see these guys show up on these sales charts then the first thing to do is stop downloading and sharing the music.
Then tell them to get a major record label behind them (all of the artists here have one). Then do a concert tour of the US. And make sure it hits a mainstream audience and not a segment of the population if you really want to sell off.
I'm from Bermuda, and Collie has worked his *ss off touring and writing, and if you look past the white novelty aspect (which definitely didn't hurt his sales and pitch with Sony), he is one of the best artists of the last 2 years. When everyone else is buried in mediocrity and monotony, he's been creative and inspiring with his lyrics.
