Jay-Z puts money rumours to rest

jay_z.jpgWill he be kicked out? Will he renew his contract? The Internet was abuzz with rumours surrounding Jay-Z's contract renewal...well he came clean in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the gist of which was posted on eurweb.com.

The Def Jam president cleared up misinformation that has been reported about his contract renewal talks being stalled over money.

"It's not about money," he said. "That's really the last thing. Of course, as a person that does these type of things and puts his heart and soul into it and it's effective, as the Grammy's would indicate you want to be compensated for what you do. But it's really not about money.

"It's really about the future of the music business, and not wasting anyone's time. I don't ever want to sit in a seat just to sit in a seat. I could be off doing something else that's beneficial to the future of the music business as well as myself. So it's not about money. I mean, you couldn't pay me enough."

Jay-Z was responding to a recent article in the New York Daily News that said his contract negotiations had hit a brick wall because of impossible money demands. While Jigga denies that salary is a factor, the mogul does admit uncertainty about retaining his Def Jam title next year.

"Yeah, I think I don't know. Let me not even say that. I don't know. We'll see how it goes," he admitted.
