Chaos reigned at Tarrus Riley show in Antigua
 Newsflash! Bottles and stones pelted on stage at a widely anticipated Tarrus Riley show in Antigua.
From what YardFlex could glean it would be apparent that the "She's Royal" singer and his road manager were told that the show would begin at 7:00 pm. However, they never got to the stage until the wee hours of the morning which understandably would have anyone upset.
A frustrated Riley and his crew instead of taking he matter up with the promoter vented on the respected Antiguan emcee Kenny Nibbs, whose only sin was announcing the wrong backing band for Riley! Seemed that turned out to be the final straw where the Riley and his manager were concerned – they totally lost it!
Instead of just making the correction and getting on with the performance Riley and his road manager Dean Fraser started to hype and carry on, dragging the mic away from the emcee's hand, shouting expletives at him telling him to get the %$#@ off stage!
Let's bear in mind that not only are these radio disc jockeys responsible for getting you where you are, but he was also responsible for touting him as a breath of fresh air!
This man has also emceed shows that had the likes of Capleton, Buju Banton, Garnet Silk, Gregory Isaacs, John Holt, Dennis Brown, Kenyatta Hill and his father Culture and so many others, and was never ever disrespected by any of them the way Riley did.
The emcee Kenny Nibbs refused to be treated in that manner, hence the shouting match began. This brought the crowd nearer for a first hand glimpse of what was taking place.
It wasn't until Tarrus Riley shouted expletives announcing, "ah Jamaica me come from,"... and that was all it took to set the crowd in over hype.
Many watched with mouths wide opened...couldn't believe the man they have grown to love by crooning his way into their hearts was behaving like that.
Competely turned off many left, one was so disgusted that he commented, "ah some body gi him dah song fi sing cause him nah royal" while the another answered, "she's royal but he's not!"
Although Riley later apologised to the emcee Kenny Nibbs for his conduct, it still did not erase the bitter disappointment for his many fans there.

Taurus Riley didn't do anything. i was at the show since 7pm so i can tell u how it go. i was at the from of the stage. first and foremost kenny is gay. Mr Riley was standing on his feet for hours and kenny was there wasting time.
after awhile a tall slim man came up and was talking the mic from him but he refuse and said a antigua you dey not jamaica. In about a minute Mr riley came up on the stage he didn't do anything until after awhile kenny gave him the mic.
Mr riley hail up the crowed n all was happy to see him with a load should them he stated to say "man come off a di stage" he repeat that about 6 times which the crowed was repeating. kenny feel disrespected n started to get angry and ready fi war while at the same time Mr riley was performing n the crowed love him. IN minutes a bottle was thrown on the stage just one bottle. Mr riley said just one xplicit. thatwas it all went loose. pplce and their own started the war, while antiguans and jamicans suporters in the crowed started to argue. Mr riley didn't do a thing. Antigua are just badminded FUCKED ppl
It was bad and it is clear that antiguans don't like jamaicans. So jamaicans plz be aware

unbelievable story!.....Tarrus full a class....there must be more to this story...maybe u guys should interview Tarrus himself and get a more balanced account of the event

I truely hope this information is false. This youth has such a bright future in the business. If Riley and the big man Dean really behave so, then I am once again very sadden and disappointed by the actions of some of these so call Rastafari Artist dem, whom continue to give his Majesty a bad name. Riley you need to iditate on more self-control. Remember what you preach. The MEEK shall inherit the Earth. Humble ya self.

I was most disappointed to read the events that allegedly unfolded in Antigua but am not surprised. Artists should NEVER be judged by the material they sing since many of them merely see the music business as a way to carry them out of the ghetto.

a lie no stone and bottle throwing at the show i was there i have it on video tarrus went overboard yes,but i did not see anything like that tarrus was on stage making song off nibbs who is so innocent the crowd thought that its disrespectful apatron in front of the stage tell tarrus that him dis the man some one threw a beer can at tarrus and he said to the band to stop the music at which time the music did not stop and he said again stop the bombocloth music man ,then he go and stand in a corner on stage he did not say another word,then the band pack up. at the same time a photographer was taking picture the police pull the picture man off stage and give him a royal beating breaking his jaw and cheek bone which is police brutality. by right tarrus did not act like a rastaman he is the one that should get the royal beating instead ,he act like a girl chasing the emcee i dont know what get into him he should be more professional some of these entertainer need to go bellevue and get anger management treatment. no stone and bottle was thrown

Me shame shame shame for Taurus. Me know Johnny Wonder dam disrespectful and nuh body like him. Even VP fire him ass because him disrespect dem family in Miami over a vehicle dat belong to VP family. Imagine him expect first use of de car over VP family. Him tooooo hype.

THAT STORY IS NOT ALL TRUE, BUT IN ANY EVENT THE THEME FOR THE SHOW WAS THOUGHT OF IN A GOOD TIME BECAUSE OF WAT IS GOIN ON IN THE WORLD NOT ANTIGUA ALONE. I THINK THAT BEING THE HOST OF A SHOW DO NOT GET ME WRONG BOTH PARTIES WERE WRONG AND THE M.C HAD A RIGHT TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE MATTER DIFFERENTLY. THE OTHER THING THAT I THOUGHT IS THAT A CHANCE WAS GIVEN TO A PASSING ARTISTE TO PERFOM AND DID NEED TO COME BACK ON STAGE, BECAUSE OF THE CROWD WAS NOT IN TO HIM AND ALSO IT WAS LATE ENOUGH AND THE PERSONS THAT ATTENDED THAT SHOW WENT TO SEE RILEY, SO AT THAT TIME WHEN HE WAS FINISHED SINGING THE MAIN ACT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LOOKING TO PERFORM. AND AT LEAST RILEY WAS MAN ENOUGH TO GO AND APOLOGISE.

As Caribbean people, in this day and age when the rest of the world looks as us as 3rd world which is catergorically degrading...we find it within ourselves to further belittle each other calling others small island and what not. Yo next to Jamaica no Caribbean Island have more International Shows than Antigua even Antigua Dee jay and Selecta dem up to date with the music like those in Jamaica. Antigua embrace the Dancehall and Reggae Culture for years and we have been Supporting it. It hard to find a big name Jamaican Artist that has never been to Antigua to perform except for Jah Cure and he a go they Next Week. But u cant disrespect Antigua ppl cause we will cause drama a so we stay. It dont matter who u be u.....I guess Tarrus found that out the hard way..............

i think what we should all remember is that no one is perfect, and if some one has made a mistake what can we do but try and get past that mistake, Tarrus Riley is one of the one of the sweetest persons i have ever known second to his father, many of the persons bashing tarrus are persons who i'm sure have been to more hostile state shows and have to just accept what was served to them, so why are you all bashing tarrus, please!!, Tarrus some ppl just wan to defile the "I" character, just remember "I will stay with you, through your ups and your downs",staynice seh dat.

I too was at the show and I think that Taurus was wayy out of line and acted in a very unprofessional manner. The fact that the show was going well overtime is true but was not the fault of the MC and any aggravation T.R felt as a result of the delay needed to have been taken up with the promoter. Further, the wrong band name could easily have been rectified by Taurus simply announcing the correct name when he got on stage. The crowd need not have been made aware of ANY grievances Riley was experiencing. We paid to watch him perform and he should not have allowed immaturity to ROB us of the experience. I take great offense to the comment being made that Antiguans simply do not like Jamaicans. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is an EXTENSIVE Jamaican population and obviously whenever there are reggae shows they come out in their numbers. Sad to say however, Riley actually got stoned from some of his fellow Jamaicans! These said Jamaicans explained that it 'hurt them' to had to do it but ANtigua is where they live and where they eat, so the man can't just come disrespect jus so. Antigua is very disappointed and still awaiting a sincere apology, not just to the MC but to the paying patrons who all felt disrespected and robbed.

Seems to me that negative vibes were in play here. A great pity that Tarrus behaved in this manner, only takes one mistake and the whole world is on his back. Same goes for MC. Both performers should hold back on any grievances until after the show. Having said that, the manager should 'manage'... perhaps rather than looking at the big bang on stage we should be looking at the diffuser and pointing fingers.
We all have bad days, we all make mistakes that effect other people. In this case, the customer was robbed of good vibes - a robbery for which the performers will no doubt pay. But... blaming one person or another will not find any solution. Am sure they have sorted out their differences in private, perhaps though... in view of their public argument, they should apologise just as publically?

No difference which island you come from all Africans hate disrespect and often over react when we are dissed. Lucky Dube(RIP)found out the hard way in Dominica too. He called some camera man barboon for filming him and everyone at the show felt dissed and stoned down the stage. Mash up everyting. Buju Banton too,came to DA to perform on a sound system that was horrible. People pay big money for de show and felt dissed. Stoned and bottled down the stage. Next time he came with Shiloh Band and blaze up de place. Artist or not don't dis no one. You might jus see a side you never seen before.

I was at the show. Taurus was a bit unprofessional. The incident did not have to go so far, if a little restraint was administered. I think Taurus had a little too much ego. I still would love to see him perform and I still think his song is a great song. Loved Ithana, sweet voice, very pretty Empress. Pray that God will take her great places. I would love to see some comments on Ithana.

If riley Act up or what ever did ah gwarn... Ah fi Rileys ting dat.. an Nobody ah show no discrepancys towards Jamaica.. Ah criss island dat aswell.. Mi baby Mudda ah Jamaican and Mi ah Antiguan.. I have been jamaica 4 times and enjoyed di island each time and mi woman has been wadadli (antigua) 5 times and she love it also.. Big up and bless all
